Why Is It Easier To Become President Than Miss America?

That was the question asked by contributer Michelle Wolf on 'The Daily Show's' Sept. 12 show. And she makes an excellent point. Why does Miss America have to be a person of fine character, ready to represent all of America, when the president doesn't have to meet those requirements?.....»»

On Sept 10 we presented Lady Gaga with a Miss Gay America crown, making her the first honorary Miss Gay America. South Park Skewers Donald Trump"s Handling Of North Korea AND Everyone Freaking Out Over His Tweets!

South Park doesn't even need to show "The President" in an episode to mock Donald Trump anymore! Matt Stone and Trey Parker admitted they didn't want to focus on POTUS as much as they did last season, which featured a yuge election storyline in which Mr. Garrison raped and killed the show's version of Trump before taking on his personality and winning the presidency. Even though he hasn't physically shown up in South Park yet, the president -- who remained nameless in this week's episode -- was still satirized in what seemed to be a response to Trump's antagonizing remarks to North Korea. Related: Trump Lashes Out The Emmys' 'Bad' Ratings! Just a day after Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in his UN address on Tuesday, the cartoon series acknowledged the fear of living under world leaders caught up in a nuclear pissing contest. The episode started with the boys' classmate Tweek playing a song about the current political climate for the school talent show. In his "song," Tweek frustratingly bangs on the piano and yells about how North Korea is going to kill us all and it's all the president's fault, screaming: "We're all going to die! They have nuclear missiles. Why are you just sitting there doing nothing?! We have to get out of here. North Korea wants to kill us and our president keeps making it worse. Why are you all just sitting there? Why are you all acting like nothing's wrong? North Korea is going to bomb us. We are all dead. We have to do something. Do something! Do something! Ahhhh!" The main question driving the episode is if Tweek is overreacting or not. His boyfriend Greg suggests Tweek send the North Koreans cupcakes so they know that all Americans aren't as shitty as the president. This gesture works... until the president gets involved. Soon, CNN reports that the president -- who appears to still be Garrison -- has launched a Twitter attack on North Korea, saying Tweek "took a dump in the batter." Which, of course, blows up the whole situation. Here are a few of his tweets: LOL, but how sad is it that these aren't really that farfetched? Amid the North Korea drama, other students are trying to raise awareness about the deadly effects of distracted driving, since multiple parents have been running over kids due to freaking out about the president's tweets from behind the wheel. The plotlines tie together in the end of the episode, when Tweek partners with Greg to perform another song. This time, the duo sings about the dangers of being distracted by your phone -- joined by a choir of South Park kids who tell the president to "Put It Down," singing: "Don't be on your phone while being president / Put it down / You might do something dumb and cause an accident." After the song, locals pledge to put down their phones if they become president -- even Hillary Clinton makes a cameo! Hey girl! The moral of the story? Put down your fucking phone, Trump. Also, recklessly freaking out about the president's tweets only makes things worse. [Image via Comedy Central.].....»»

Former President George H.W. Bush Apologizes To Actress Heather Lind Following Her Sexual Assault Claims Against Him

How very unpresidential of him! On Monday, actress Heather Lind accused former President George H.W. Bush of sexually assaulting her during a photo opportunity four years ago. In an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Lind claimed the 41st President of the United States "touched her from behind" and then "told her a dirty joke." Related: Donald Trump Pelted With Russian Flags Before GOP Luncheon Oh no. Of course, Bush Sr.'s team has already moved quickly to downplay the accusation as a rep noted in a statement: "President Bush would never—under any circumstance—intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind." We're sure Heather doesn't view a fondling as an "attempt at humor." Like, c'mon!! The Turn star's admission comes amid the many Me Too confessions about sexual assault and/or harassment. At first, the brunette starlet didn't have plans to expose the former POTUS. However, when she saw a snap of Barack Obama shaking hands with 41 at the recent Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal concert, Heather decided to speak out. Earlier this week, the 34-year-old shared: "I was disturbed today by a photo I saw of President Barack Obama shaking hands with George H. W. Bush in a gathering of ex-presidents organizing aid to states and territories damaged by recent hurricanes. I found it disturbing because I recognize the respect ex-presidents are given for having served. And I feel pride and reverence toward many of the men in the photo." Understandably, Heather does NOT revere Bush Sr. as she continued: "When I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo. He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side." How awful. The awkward moment then took a turn for the worse, as the Boardwalk Empire alum added: "He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say 'not again.' His security guard told me I shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo. We were instructed to call him Mr. President." While it is standard for past Commander-In-Chiefs to be addressed as Mr. President, the security detail shouldn't have victim-blamed the young woman. Regardless, Heather has doubled down on her refusal to call George, "Mr. President." She went on: "It seems to me a President's power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy. He relinquished that power when he used it against me and, judging from the comments of those around him, countless other women before me. What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn't so different from a President really... I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them. I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character." Oh snap. Thankfully, Heather's castmates and producers helped her get through the ordeal. She also applauded the many others who've spoken out against sexual misconduct. Although Heather didn't share "where, when, and how" details from the alleged incident, it's believed that the encounter took place during a private screening for AMC's Turn: Washington's Spies on March 29, 2014 in Houston, Texas. There is a photo of Heather posing next to George and Barbara from this event. Lind concluded her note with: "And I thank President Barack Obama for the gesture of respect he made toward George H. W. Bush for the sake of our country, but I do not respect him. #metoo." Thank you for sharing, Heather. We can't imagine it was easy. [Image via Dominic Chan/WENN.].....»»

Joe Biden Comes For Donald Trump In Powerful Op-Ed — "We Are Living Through A Battle For The Soul Of This Nation"

Always proving to be the Vice President we need but don't deserve, the longtime politician penned an op-ed for The Atlantic over the weekend that slammed Donald Trump and his response to the violence in Charlottesville. Biden penned: "Today we have an American president who has publicly proclaimed a moral equivalency between neo-Nazis and Klansmen and those who would oppose their venom and hate. We have an American president who has emboldened white supremacists with messages of comfort and support." Related: Will Joe Biden Run For President? He continued: "This is a moment for this nation to declare what the president can't with any clarity, consistency, or conviction: There is no place for these hate groups in America. Hatred of blacks, Jews, immigrants—all who are seen as "the other"—won't be accepted or tolerated or given safe harbor anywhere in this nation." After calling out a few specific examples of Trump's "willingness to divide this nation," Barack Obama's right-hand man concluded: "You, me, and the citizens of this country carry a special burden in 2017. We have to do what our president has not. We have to uphold America's values. We have to do what he will not. We have to defend our Constitution. We have to remember our kids are watching. We have to show the world America is still a beacon of light. Joined together, we are more than 300 million strong. Joined together, we will win this battle for our soul. Because if there's one thing I know about the American people, it's this: When it has mattered most, they have never let this nation down." Preach!.....»»

Third Woman Comes Forward Accusing Former President George H.W. Bush Of Groping

Former President George H.W. Bush has been accused of groping by another woman. In an essay for Slate, Kline says she was invited as a guest author for the Barbara [...] Former President George H.W. Bush has been accused of groping by another woman. Similarly to the first two accusers, Christina Baker Kline recalls being grabbed on the rear by the wheelchair-bound politician during a photo op back in April 2014. In an essay for Slate, Kline says she was invited as a guest author for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy fundraiser. After the luncheon, where she was seated next to the former First Lady, Kline and her husband lined up for a pic with George, Sr. That's when the unexpected happened: the now-93-year-old grabbed her ass, making the same "David Cop-a-feel" joke the other two women had remembered. Related: Lina Esco Comes Forward With Harvey Weinstein Allegation Kline wrote of the interaction: "'Hello,' I said. 'It's truly an honor to meet yoicku.' He cocked his head at me for a moment, then said, 'You're beautiful.' 'Thank you,' I said. 'You're a writer.' 'Yes.' 'You wanna know my favorite book?' he whispered. I had to lean close to hear him. 'Yes, what is it?' By now the photographer was readying the shot. My husband stood on one side of the wheelchair, and I stood on the other. President Bush put his arm around me, low on my back. His comic timing was impeccable. 'David Cop-a-feel,' he said, and squeezed my butt, hard, just as the photographer snapped the photo. Instinctively, I swiped his hand away." Wow. After the picture, Christina and her husband were "whisked away" and told to "be discreet" by a member of the Bush staff about what happened. As for why the writer didn't come forward sooner, she explained: "First, the only thing that made this incident unusual was that it involved an ex-president. Most women I know have experienced this kind of joking and groping dozens of times. You become inured to it. It happens, you try to forget about it, and later you exchange war stories with other women. Second, I didn't want to face the scrutiny I knew an accusation like this would bring. Exactly one year earlier, at age 49, I'd finished a harrowing series of treatments for an invasive form of breast cancer. My hair had only just grown back. I was vulnerable enough; I didn't want to face the consequences of making such an accusation. (Remember Trump's comment that a woman wasn't pretty enough to be sexually harassed by him?). I also didn't want to seem opportunistic, as if I was reporting the former president's transgression for publicity purposes. (Although, ugh, who wants this kind of publicity?) I didn't want to collaterally damage the reputation of the literacy foundation, which does wonderful work. Most of all, I didn't want to be perceived as being cruel to a harmless, aging former president with a reputation for courtly gentility." That's a lot of pressure! You can read the rest of her side of the story -- and see the pic snapped at the exact moment of the grab -- HERE. P.S. When asked for comment on Kline's allegation, Bush's camp referred the outlet to the President's former statement which reads: "At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures. To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke — and on occasion, he has patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner. Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate. To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely." This is not acceptable behavior, and hopefully the courage of these women to share their stories will spark change. [Image via FOX.].....»»
