Why Is It Easier To Become President Than Miss America?

That was the question asked by contributer Michelle Wolf on 'The Daily Show's' Sept. 12 show. And she makes an excellent point. Why does Miss America have to be a person of fine character, ready to represent all of America, when the president doesn't have to meet those requirements?.....»»

Emails that were exposed in the new report show that Sam thought it was funny when one of his colleagues wrote “It should have been Kate Shindle” while writing about the death of former Miss America Mary Ann Mobley. Shindle won the pageant in 1998 and went on to become a successful theatre actress with starring roles in Legally Blonde, Cabaret, and Fun Home. She currently is the president of the Actors’ Equity Association, the union the represents stage actors and stage managers. “I almost don’t have the words to respond to Yashar Ali‘s revelations about the current leadership of the Miss America Organization,” Kate wrote in a statement released on Twitter, in which she called for the full Board of Directors to resign. “Today, I read that a member of the production team wished I were dead, and that Executive Chairman and CEO Sam Haskell laughed about it. I read that the Board of Directors conspired to change the rules of the competition specifically to destroy another Miss America’s business. I read that that same board passed around photos to email each other degrading comments about a Miss America’s body,” she added. “It makes me physically ill.” You can read the full statement below. .@yashar pic.twitter.com/Aer8XyoCjE — kate shindle (@kateshindle) December 22, 2017.....»»

Her moving acceptance speech has now rallied the Internet into launching a campaign for Miss O to run for President in 2020! And get this... the TV personality's longtime partner Stedman Graham said the 63-year-old would 'absolutely' do it! Related: This Photo Of Oprah, Gayle King, & Ava DuVernay Is Everything! After the pageant’s CEO Sam Haskell resigned after inappropriate emails he wrote about former contestants, past winners Kate Shindle and Gretchen Carlson have released a statement for a much needed call to action for the program. “While it is reassuring that some of the perpetrators of the abuses within the Miss America Organization have resigned, this by no means fulfills the need for a thorough housecleaning of the Board of Directors,” Kate and Gretchen started her statement. The ladies continued: “We will continue to demand the resignations of every individual who either participated in the abuse of women or stood by and was complicit by failing to conduct proper due diligence, as legally required by their fiduciary obligations. In addition, we expect that no new board members will be appointed until every implicated board member has resigned.” “As evidenced by the thousands of voices – of contestants, former titleholders, local, state and national volunteers – being raised in support of our goals, this Board of Directors has lost the trust of the country,” Kate continued. “For the good of the organization, they must step away. The women of Miss America are determined to take back our program. South Park Skewers Donald Trump"s Handling Of North Korea AND Everyone Freaking Out Over His Tweets!

South Park doesn't even need to show "The President" in an episode to mock Donald Trump anymore! Matt Stone and Trey Parker admitted they didn't want to focus on POTUS as much as they did last season, which featured a yuge election storyline in which Mr. Garrison raped and killed the show's version of Trump before taking on his personality and winning the presidency. Even though he hasn't physically shown up in South Park yet, the president -- who remained nameless in this week's episode -- was still satirized in what seemed to be a response to Trump's antagonizing remarks to North Korea. Related: Trump Lashes Out The Emmys' 'Bad' Ratings! Just a day after Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in his UN address on Tuesday, the cartoon series acknowledged the fear of living under world leaders caught up in a nuclear pissing contest. The episode started with the boys' classmate Tweek playing a song about the current political climate for the school talent show. In his "song," Tweek frustratingly bangs on the piano and yells about how North Korea is going to kill us all and it's all the president's fault, screaming: "We're all going to die! They have nuclear missiles. Why are you just sitting there doing nothing?! We have to get out of here. North Korea wants to kill us and our president keeps making it worse. Why are you all just sitting there? Why are you all acting like nothing's wrong? North Korea is going to bomb us. We are all dead. We have to do something. Do something! Do something! Ahhhh!" The main question driving the episode is if Tweek is overreacting or not. His boyfriend Greg suggests Tweek send the North Koreans cupcakes so they know that all Americans aren't as shitty as the president. This gesture works... until the president gets involved. Soon, CNN reports that the president -- who appears to still be Garrison -- has launched a Twitter attack on North Korea, saying Tweek "took a dump in the batter." Which, of course, blows up the whole situation. Here are a few of his tweets: LOL, but how sad is it that these aren't really that farfetched? Amid the North Korea drama, other students are trying to raise awareness about the deadly effects of distracted driving, since multiple parents have been running over kids due to freaking out about the president's tweets from behind the wheel. The plotlines tie together in the end of the episode, when Tweek partners with Greg to perform another song. This time, the duo sings about the dangers of being distracted by your phone -- joined by a choir of South Park kids who tell the president to "Put It Down," singing: "Don't be on your phone while being president / Put it down / You might do something dumb and cause an accident." After the song, locals pledge to put down their phones if they become president -- even Hillary Clinton makes a cameo! Hey girl! The moral of the story? Put down your fucking phone, Trump. Also, recklessly freaking out about the president's tweets only makes things worse. [Image via Comedy Central.].....»»

Former President George H.W. Bush Apologizes To Actress Heather Lind Following Her Sexual Assault Claims Against Him

How very unpresidential of him! On Monday, actress Heather Lind accused former President George H.W. Bush of sexually assaulting her during a photo opportunity four years ago. In an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Lind claimed the 41st President of the United States "touched her from behind" and then "told her a dirty joke." Related: [...] How very unpresidential of him! On Monday, actress Heather Lind accused former President George H.W. Bush of sexually assaulting her during a photo opportunity four years ago. In an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Lind claimed the 41st President of the United States "touched her from behind" and then "told her a dirty joke." Related: Donald Trump Pelted With Russian Flags Before GOP Luncheon Oh no. Of course, Bush Sr.'s team has already moved quickly to downplay the accusation as a rep noted in a statement: "President Bush would never—under any circumstance—intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind." We're sure Heather doesn't view a fondling as an "attempt at humor." Like, c'mon!! The Turn star's admission comes amid the many Me Too confessions about sexual assault and/or harassment. At first, the brunette starlet didn't have plans to expose the former POTUS. However, when she saw a snap of Barack Obama shaking hands with 41 at the recent Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal concert, Heather decided to speak out. Earlier this week, the 34-year-old shared: "I was disturbed today by a photo I saw of President Barack Obama shaking hands with George H. W. Bush in a gathering of ex-presidents organizing aid to states and territories damaged by recent hurricanes. I found it disturbing because I recognize the respect ex-presidents are given for having served. And I feel pride and reverence toward many of the men in the photo." Understandably, Heather does NOT revere Bush Sr. as she continued: "When I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo. He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side." How awful. The awkward moment then took a turn for the worse, as the Boardwalk Empire alum added: "He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say 'not again.' His security guard told me I shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo. We were instructed to call him Mr. President." While it is standard for past Commander-In-Chiefs to be addressed as Mr. President, the security detail shouldn't have victim-blamed the young woman. Regardless, Heather has doubled down on her refusal to call George, "Mr. President." She went on: "It seems to me a President's power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy. He relinquished that power when he used it against me and, judging from the comments of those around him, countless other women before me. What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn't so different from a President really... I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them. I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character." Oh snap. Thankfully, Heather's castmates and producers helped her get through the ordeal. She also applauded the many others who've spoken out against sexual misconduct. Although Heather didn't share "where, when, and how" details from the alleged incident, it's believed that the encounter took place during a private screening for AMC's Turn: Washington's Spies on March 29, 2014 in Houston, Texas. There is a photo of Heather posing next to George and Barbara from this event. Lind concluded her note with: "And I thank President Barack Obama for the gesture of respect he made toward George H. W. Bush for the sake of our country, but I do not respect him. #metoo." Thank you for sharing, Heather. We can't imagine it was easy. [Image via Dominic Chan/WENN.].....»»
