The 15-year-old actress plays the role of Janice, a young orphan who gets possessed by the soul living in the doll Annabelle. Read her 10 Fun Facts below: 1. If I wasn’t acting I would probably want to be a photographer. I have a Polaroid camera, which I take everywhere with me, snapping photos throughout the day. My favorite pictures that I take, I put up on my bedroom wall. 2. I like to collect trinkets. I usually look for one when I’m having a good day, so I can have something that will remind me of that time. Sometimes I’ll just find a piece of metal that looks cool and add that to my collection. 3. I need the cold air of a fan blowing on my face, or else I won’t be able to fall asleep. So when I travel for my career, I take a mini portable fan with me so I can sleep. 4. If black was a color it would be my favorite, but since it isn’t, my favorite color is dark purple, like a chaotic purple. 5. My favorite fruits are, mangos, watermelon, blueberries and green grapes. Not in that order. Click inside for the rest of Talitha Bateman’s fun facts… 6. When I’m not acting I spend most of my time hiking, at martial arts, or hanging out with my family. 7. I’m the second youngest in my family, but I feel like I’m the eldest, because I’m kind of a control freak so I’m constantly bossing my siblings around. 8. I love the cold. My favorite season is winter and my favorite types of days are rainy and cloudy ones. 9. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I get so lost into the world of whatever book I’m reading, that’s why I love reading. Because I can be sitting in my bedroom but my mind can be in a whole different place. 10. My favorite animal is an arctic fox. They’re beautiful, extremely clever, love exploring and picky eaters, like me. Go see Annabelle: Creation, in theaters this weekend!.....»»

The Dark Tower Is Getting Toppled By Critics! See The Vicious Review Roundup!

We didn't expect The Dark Tower to be Shakespeare (or even Captain America), but one of the worst reviewed movies of the year?? Yep, as of this writing the movie sits at a sad 16% on Rotten Tomatoes, something that probably shouldn't be too much of a surprise given reviews were embargoed until the day it came out. But even the kind reviews are so half-hearted, it sounds like the Stephen King adaptation is a movie for NO ONE. Related: The Emoji Movie Is An Appalling Pile Of 💩! The saddest part is, the books have been coming out for decades, and an adaptation has been in some form of development for about 15 years. And after all that time... eesh. Too bad for Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, too. Because they sure are doing their part being adorable to sell it! Ch-ch-check out the TERRIBLE responses in our review roundup (below): Dan Callahan, The Wrap: "The 95-minute culmination of years-long efforts to bring The Dark Tower to the big screen is a complete disaster, a limp, barely coherent shell of a movie." Kate Erbland, indieWire: "King's Dark Tower universe is rich with cultural reference points and is always totally unpredictable, but in cutting it down to consolidate its highlights, The Dark Tower can't even shoot the most necessary bullets straight." Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic: "The Dark Tower is a near-total whiff, a mess of a movie that took forever to get made and by the look of things should have taken about twice that long." Darren Franich, Entertainment Weekly: "Bad dialogue, lame plot, fine. The bigger issue: How could a film with Elba and McConaughey have so little swagger?" Stephanie Zacharek, TIME: "It could use more magic, more dread, a more staggering sense of wonder. It's wholly inoffensive, but it's unmemorable too. This is a fantasy that runs like a business." John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter: "Heaven knows, the books offer more invention than could fit in one feature film, but in their effort to introduce newcomers to this world, the filmmakers make the saga's contents look not archetypal but generic and cobbled together." Scott Mendelson, Forbes: "Even without having read the books, I can only imagine the outrage and frustration that will be felt by fans of the source material... I enjoyed it on its own merits, but I imagine fans of the books are going to be horrified, and not in the right way." Owen Glieberman, Variety: "It's a highly competent and watchable paranoid metaphysical video game that doesn't overstay its welcome, includes some luridly entertaining visual effects, and -- it has to be said -- summons an emotional impact of close to zero." Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger: "Where's the story? As in – any of the story. We're given no sense of either of the two characters – just told they're locked in eternal, infernal battle, with our cosmic cowboy dedicated to stopping the villain from bringing on a demonic apocalypse... This isn't ‘The Dark Tower.' This is a small, sad pile of rubble – the foundation to a franchise you can only hope is never built." Brian Truitt, USA Today: "So much potential in terms of star power and source material goes to waste simply because it seems like the filmmakers couldn't figure out what movie to make. ‘Dark Tower' tosses out a lot of plot threads that never go anywhere and even the ending is rushed, like somebody forgot to study for an essay test and then has to B.S. their way out of a failing grade." Mike Ryan, Uproxx: "‘The Dark Tower' is so astoundingly awful that when you leave the theater you'll likely be less mad you wasted your time than flabbergasted that something like this could a) happen and b) be released as something that, theoretically, is going to launch a multi-platform franchise. ‘The Dark Tower' has been in production for around ten years in some form or another. This final product reminds me a lot of the GOP healthcare plan: You've had all this time and THIS is what you come up with? I can already picture John McCain strolling into a theater this weekend, giving a dramatic thumbs down, killing ‘The Dark Tower' forever." The Dark Tower hits theaters on Friday, with Thursday preview showings tonight. You know, if you still have to see for yourself. [Image via Sony Pictures.].....»»

Top 10 Differences Between the Harry Potter Books and Movies

It is typical for movies made from books to have to make some slight changes due to time constraints, budgeting issues, or even due to the direction that the producers or film directors wish to take the story. While this can happen and the movie still is excellent–like the Harry Potter series is–it is pretty sad to see key plot points or character arcs be cut from the final product. For this Top 10, we will explore what is in our opinion the ten biggest differences between the Harry Potter films and books. Despite these key scenes and characters ultimately being cut, we still believe that the filmmakers were able to truly capture all the magic of the Harry Potter universe. 10: The Animagus Rita Skeeter An important aspect of Rita Skeeter as a character and her story arc was left entirely out of the movies. The real answer to the question of how the reporter for the Daily Prophet Rita Skeeter was able to get her exclusive scoops will elude those that have only seen the Harry Potter movies and have never read the books. Rita Skeeter is what is known in the Harry Potter universe as an Animagus. An Animagus is a witch or wizard that has mastered the ability to transform themselves into an animal or creature. An Animagus usually has to take a test and become licensed by the Ministry of Magic. Some well known Animagii include Professor Minerva McGonagall, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew. Rita Skeeter’s Animagus form is a shiny emerald green beetle. She utilized this transformation to eavesdrop on the titular characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. 9: Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington’s Deathday Party Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington–who is commonly called Nearly-Headless Nick–celebrated his 500th Deathday during the story in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This important character development arc was completely absent in the film. One of the important aspects of Nearly-Headless Nick’s Deathday Party is that it allowed Harry Potter fans to date the events that happen in the Harry Potter universe. Based on his 500th Deathday Party and the year of his actual death (1492) we know that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was set in 1992. Many important ghost characters showed up to celebrate Nearly-Headless Nick’s party, such as the members of the Headless Hunt, Myrtle Warren, Peeves the Poltergeist, the Bloody Baron and the Grey Lady. Additionally, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger were also guests at this party. 8: Hermione’s Potion Challenge In the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (also known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone), the central trio of characters each have a trial that they must pass to get to the Philosopher’s Stone. The first trial was the Three-Headed Dog, which was overcome through the help of all three characters. The second trial is to get past a Devil’s Snare plant. The third test is the one that is overcome by Harry Potter and is a Quidditch-oriented trial. The [...].....»»

Fourth Narnia Film In The Works

[caption id="attachment_22123" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Narnia gets a new lease on movie life."][/caption] Good news for the many fans of the Narnia books! An adaptation of "The Silver Chair," the fourth book in the classic series by C.S. Lewis is in the works. Deadline say that a new production team has picked up the series after Walden Media, which filmed the first three books, let the rights expire. Now the Mark Gordon Company and the C.S. Lewis Company have made a deal for the books' film rights. Mark Gordon and Douglas Gresham, Lewis's stepson, are among the producers. Or maybe this isn't good news for Narnia fans--most seemed happy with "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" (2005),  not so much with "Prince Caspian" (2008), and were very unhappy with "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (2010). Nevertheless, the three movies have combined to earn $1.6 billion "The Silver Chair" is one of the almost stand alone books in the series, with only one character, Eustace,  who connects to the days of the first book's famous characters: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. It's also a very dark story, but it was probably my favorite book in the series. Do I have any reason to believe they might not muck it up? No. Could it be brilliant, giving new life to the series? Sure, why not. As always, hope for the best, prepare for the worst......»»

Maybe the MPAA folks blocked it out... CBS Tries To Set Itself Apart From The Rest With ‘9JKL’

If you looked at the ratings each TV season, it wouldn’t be unusual to find that at least half of the top ten shows were comedies. (In 1978, 60 Minutes was the only non-comedy to make the list!) But that all changed in the new millennium. Between the rise of reality programming and high-profile dramas, top-rated comedies became harder and harder to find. Shockingly, between the sign-off of Everybody Loves Raymond and the ascension of The Big Bang Theory, six years passed without a single comedy in the season-end top ten! Despite the genre’s struggles, CBS has stuck by the traditional comedy. Along with Big Bang, its lineup features conventional sitcoms like Mom, Man With A Plan, Superior Donuts and Kevin Can Wait. They’re adding to that roster this fall with 9JKL. Created by and starring Mark Feuerstein, it’s based on his real-life story, when he lived in Apartment 9K, sandwiched between other family members in 9J and 9L. The cast also includes veteran actors Elliot Gould and Linda Lavin. After taking a look at the first-look feature CBS has produced, are you ready to move into the building with them? 9JKL premieres Monday, October 2 on CBS. The pull for Marvel’s Inhumans is the titular characters are not a super group cobbled together within the Marvel Universe but instead are a royal family blessed with powerful abilities. Whether it’s Medusa’s (Serinda Swan) suffocating hair or Black Bolt’s (Anson Mount) destructive scream, they are a force to be reckoned with. “There’s this beautiful thing between the two of them, because - and part of the reason why I loved Medusa and why I really wanted to play her was she’s not just his translator,” said Swan. “She’s this symbiosis between the two, you see this strong, powerful man and this powerful woman, and then it’s husband and wife, and it’s king and it’s queen. And there’s a real dynamic there.” Click on the media bar below to hear Serinda Swan discuss the challenges of wearing her wig (she praises wigmaker Victoria Wood in the clip): Are you looking forward to Marvel’s Inhumans?
