As you may've heard, Cam Newton was put on blast for being sexist after he made a dismissive remark to the Charlotte Observer's female sports writer, named Jourdan Rodrigue. Smh. Related: Harvey Weinstein Gives First Interview Since Times Exposé Specifically, during Wednesday's press conference, the Carolina Panthers star was taken aback when Miz Rodrigue asked an insightful question about the team's passing strategy. After hearing Jourdan's question, Newton responded with: "It's funny to hear a female talk about routes. It's funny." So rude. And countless others agree with us as the football stud was DRAGGED online for his behavior. This controversy caused the NFL quarterback to lose Dannon's Oikos Greek yogurt as an endorser AND Gatorade publicly denounced Cam's remarks as "objectionable" and "disrespectful." Not to mention, the NFL called Newton's comments "just plain wrong and disrespectful to the exceptional female reporters and all journalists who cover [the] league." In order to diffuse the ongoing controversy, Newton took to Twitter and shared the following apology video: pic.twitter.com/Rwxzcu883T — Cameron Newton (@CameronNewton) October 6, 2017 Hopefully, this QB has learned something from this experience. Carolina Panthers" Cam Newton Slammed Over Sexist Comment To Female Reporter

During a press conference on Wednesday, Cam Newton laughed at a female reporter when she asked him a question about the physicality of wide receiver Devin Funchess' routes. While smiling in disbelief, the Carolina Panthers quarterback responded: "It's funny to hear a female talk about routes. It's funny." Now, we don't need to tell you that journalist Jourdan Rodrigue is one of two beat writers assigned by The Charlotte Observer to specifically cover the Panthers, or that she's been studying football strategy for the past 10 years. Her sports knowledge does not need to be proven or defended. What's important here is that Newton saw and heard who was asking him a legitimate question, and immediately belittled her without hesitation. This is the world we're living in in 2017. Related: Justin Timberlake Reportedly 'Finalizing' Super Bowl Halftime Show Deal! After the sexist comment, the sportswriter approached Newton as he left the locker room for follow-up. He did not apologize. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy later told The Observer: "The comments are just plain wrong and disrespectful to the exceptional female reporters and all journalists who cover our league. They do not reflect the thinking of the league." As for Rodrigue, she had this to say: I don't think it's "funny" to be a female and talk about routes. I think it's my job. — Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) October 4, 2017 I spoke with him after and it was worse. I chose not to share, because I have an actual job to do today and one he will not keep me from. — Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) October 4, 2017 For those of you who don't see anything wrong with this, it's sexist comments like these that perpetuate biases against women on every level. If it's natural for us to not believe a woman could possibly understand what "routes" are in football, how in the world will we ever believe she could become President? You can watch the moment, and the rest of the press conference where he addresses male reporters as "sir," (below): [Image via Twitter/YouTube.].....»»

Charlotte Observer beat reporter Jourdan Rodrigue asked about one of Cam‘s wide receivers and the physicality of his routes. For non-football fans, a route is the path the wide receiver runs before catching the ball from the quarterback. “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes like — it’s funny,” Cam responded back to her. Jourdan then released a statement (via ESPN), saying, “This afternoon, I did my job as an NFL beat writer and asked Cam Newton a question about one of his receivers. I was dismayed by his response, which not only belittled me but countless other women before me and beside me who work in similar jobs. I sought Mr. Newton out as he left the locker room a few minutes later. He did not apologize for his comments.” Apparently, Jourdan also asked Cam if he knew her name after working with the Panthers since October of 2016. He said he did not. Cam‘s comment quickly went viral and many weighed in on social media…including Jourdan. I don't think it's "funny" to be a female and talk about routes. I think it's my job. — Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) October 4, 2017.....»»

It is entirely inconsistent with our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in every workplace. It's simply not OK to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him." Damn straight, Dannon! Something tells us Cam doesn't find this all quite so funny anymore. [Image via YouTube.].....»»

Earlier that day, the 45-year-old Westworld actress was spotted posing for a photoshoot in a white trench coat while out on the streets of the city. During a recent interview with Allure, Thandie opened up about joining the RoC “For Your Age”campaign and shared one of the terms she can’t stand the most. “One of the things I find most offensive is the term MILF,” Thandie said. “The first time I was put in that category I was sick to my stomach. Thandie is mom to three kids – Ripley, 16, Nico, 13, and Booker, 3 – with husband Ol Parker. “It’s so disgusting because it objectifies women and that qualifier — a mother I’d like to f-word?” Thandie continued. “Like it would be a favor to an older woman? Unfortunately, it gets a cute abbreviation, and you see it everywhere online.” Read more from Thandie‘s interview at Allure.com. 10+ pictures inside of Thandie Newton stepping out in NYC….....»»

Amid the backlash for his comment, the 28-year-old Carolina Panthers quarterback lost his endorsement from Dannon Oikos yogurt. “I understand that my word choice was extremely degrading and disrespectful to women, and to be honest that was not my intention,” Cam said in a video posted to his Twitter account. “If you were a person to took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize to you.” “I’m a man who tries to be a positive role model in my community and tries to use my platform to inspire others. And I take ownership to everything that comes with that. And what I did was extremely unacceptable,” he continued. “I’m a father to two beautiful daughters and at their age, I try to instill to them that they can do and be anything that they want to be,” Cam added. “The fact that during this whole process I’ve already lost sponsors and countless fans, I realize that the joke is really on me, and I have learned a valuable lesson from this. And to the young people who see this, I hope that you learn something from this as well: Don’t be like me; be better than me. To the reporters, to the journalists, to the moms, supermoms, to the daughters, the sisters and the women all around the world, I sincerely apologize and hope that you can find the kindness in your heart to forgive me.
