Whitney Houston Was Molested By Cousin Dee Dee Warwick, According To New Documentary

Whitney Houston and her half-brother Gary were molested as children by their cousin Dee Dee Warwick, according to the new documentary Whitney. On Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, filmmaker Kevin Macdonald told Vanity Fair he suspected the singer had "suffered childhood sexual abuse" as he watched hundreds of hours of private footage. Related: Bobby Brown Responds [...] Whitney Houston and her half-brother Gary were molested as children by their cousin Dee Dee Warwick, according to the new documentary Whitney. On Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, filmmaker Kevin Macdonald told Vanity Fair he suspected the singer had "suffered childhood sexual abuse" as he watched hundreds of hours of private footage. Related: Bobby Brown Responds To Nick Gordon's Domestic Violence Arrest He told the publication: "There was something very disturbed about her, because she was never comfortable in her own skin... She seemed kind of asexual in a strange way. She was a beautiful woman, but she was never particularly sexy. I've seen and done some filming with people who have suffered childhood sexual abuse, and there was just something about her manner that was reminiscent to me of that sort of shrinking—a lack of comfort in her own physicality that felt, maybe that is what it was." After he was told off-the-record about the abuse, Macdonald finally persuaded Houston's longtime assistant Mary Jones to come forward with her account. Jones said in her emotional interview: "[Houston] looked at me and said, 'Mary, I was molested at a young age too. But it wasn't by a man—it was a woman.'... She had tears in her eyes. She says, 'Mommy don't know the things we went through.' I said, 'Have you ever told your mother?' She says, 'No.' I said, 'Well, maybe you need to tell her.' She said, 'No, my mother would hurt somebody if I told her who it was.' She just had tears rolling down her face, and I just hugged her. I said, 'One day when you get the nerve, you need to tell your mother. It will lift the burden off you.'" However, Whitney never told mom Cissy Houston about her painful childhood trauma. Jones revealed: "I think she was ashamed... she used to say, 'I wonder if I did something to make [Dee Dee] think I wanted her.' I said, 'Stop. A predator is a predator is a predator.' If Cissy had known, she would have done something about it, because Cissy loves her children.'" According to Macdonald, Cissy has been informed about the accusation and was "very upset." He added: "I think she will watch the film at some stage, but it's obviously up to her when she wants to do that." When discussing his addiction issues, fellow alleged victim Gary told the filmmaker: "Being a child—being seven, eight, nine years old—and being molested by a female family member of mine. My mother and father were gone a lot, so we stayed with a lot of different people... four, five different families who took care of us." While the film was initially going to emphasize Houston's alleged relationship with longtime best friend and employee Robyn Crawford, Macdonald ultimately decided against it. "I initially thought the story was maybe about her sexuality—that she was somebody who was not able to be gay [publicly]... I realized that actually is not the story... [Houston] only had, as far as I'm aware, one proper homosexual relationship, with Robyn Crawford, which people know about. I think that only lasted quite a short time. I found some documentation that proves, without a doubt, that it was a romantic relationship between them... The real story, as I dug deeper, had to do with her family, and to do with race, I suppose, and her childhood." Additionally, Crawford declined to participate in the film. Whitney passed away on February 11, 2012, while Dee Dee died on October 18, 2008. [Image via WENN.].....»»

25 Years Later, We’ll Always Love Whitney Houston In ‘The Bodyguard’

During the 1980s, Whitney Houston became one of the biggest names in pop music. And after Madonna parlayed her musical success into a Hollywood career, it seemed only natural for the photogenic, personable Houston to follow suit. It was 25 years ago this month that her acting debut, The Bodyguard, hit the big screen. She played Rachel Marron, a singing superstar who’s being hunted by a ruthless killer. (Hence, the need for Kevin Costner’s title character.) At the time, Houston was being offered a lot of different roles, but she told us why this was the one she decided to take. (Click on the media bar below to hear Whitney Houston) The movie was a hit, grossing more than $400 million worldwide, and also spawned one of the most successful soundtrack albums in history: It sold more than 10 million copies, and its first single, I Will Always Love You, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a record-setting 14 weeks. But all of that almost never happened. Although Houston loved the part, she had some serious doubts about whether she could handle a role like that in her first movie. She told us it was her co-star, Kevin Costner, who really convinced her to go for it. (Click on the media bar below to hear Whitney Houston) While the movie didn’t get much love from the critics — it was nominated for seven Golden Raspberry awards — it remains a fun film to watch, with an added poignancy now that Houston is no longer with us. Hong Kong Gold Medalist Claims She Was Sexually Abused By Her Coach When She Was 13 Years Old

Another athlete has accused a team official of sexual assaulting her at a frighteningly young age. Lui Lai Yiu, a gold medalist from Hong Kong, took to Facebook last week to share her own horrifying #MeToo story in hopes of breaking the taboo in Chinese culture surrounding topics related to sex. Inspired by Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney's claims of being sexually abused by her team doctor, the 23-year-old revealed that she was sexually assaulted by her then-coach 10 years ago, when she was just 13 years old. Related: Aly Raisman Was Sexually Abused By Gymnastics Team Physician Remembering the incident like it was yesterday, Lui said that her coach called her up on a Saturday and offered to give her a massage. She agreed, since "massages, from the viewpoint of an athlete, are considered absolutely ordinary." Though the two met at the sports ground, Lui recalled her coach suggesting they go to his house instead. She agreed again, because she respected him as a professional. After the massage began, however, the so-called "professional" took full advantage of the middle schooler's trust in him. Lui wrote: "We went to his house, and he pointed for me to lie on the bed. After he pressed on the back of my thighs three or four times with his hands, he said to me that it was hard to massage my legs with my jeans on and suggested I take them off. I trusted him, so I had never imagined he would do something so despicable to his own student. Next, he continued the so-called 'massage.' Finally, he took off my jeans and underwear and touched my private parts." Lui was so stunned, she didn't know how to react at the time. She didn't tell anyone about the incident except for a close friend several years later. Related: Bryan Singer Denies, Denies, Denies Sexual Assault Allegations The athlete was so conflicted, in fact, she continued to keep in touch with the coach -- even wishing him a happy birthday every year -- despite not understanding why she did it. Analyzing her actions at the time, the gold medalist mused: "Perhaps I thought I could deceive myself, tell myself that this never happened." Lui finally decided to come forward after reading about Maroney's experiences, along with learning the news about Lin Yi-han, the Taiwanese author who killed herself after claiming a former teacher sexually groomed and raped her. In response to Lui's admission, Hong Kong's chief executive Carrie Lam asked police to investigate the matter and treat it with the utmost severity. The coach has reportedly been fired. We applaud this brave young woman for coming forward, especially coming from a culture where saying #MeToo isn't exactly embraced with support and warmth -- not yet at least. Read Lui's full post (below): "#metoo I was sexually assaulted by my former coach. This summer, when I read the news about Taiwanese author Lin Yi-han, I felt the urge to share the unhappy experiences from my childhood, but I lacked the courage. A few months ago, after I saw Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney sharing her experiences of being sexually abused by her team doctor, the idea to share my own story resurged. It's been many years since it happened, and today I finally plucked up the courage to tell the truth for three reasons: - to call on people to pay attention to the sexual assault of children - to encourage victims to be brave and come forward to tell their stories - to show the public that topics related to sex should not be treated as awkward or embarrassing and shouldn't be something that can't be discussed publicly. I'm very thankful for McKayla Maroney. Because of her one action, I'm willing to discuss this again, to bravely face the past in the hopes of bringing a positive impact to more people. Ten years ago, when I was around 13 or 14, I met coach Y while participating in extracurricular activities at school. Coach Y put a lot of effort into training me and building my confidence. We often had afternoon tea or lunch together. You could say he was my teacher and also my friend. A year later, my sporting achievements had definitely improved, and it made me further believe that this coach could help me achieve even more. I still remember it was a Saturday around noon. I had just gotten out from cram school when I received a phone call from him. He asked me if my muscles were tense after last week's practice. He said he could help me massage and relax those muscles. Massages, from the viewpoint of an athlete, are considered absolutely ordinary. At the time, I didn't see any issues with that, and in my mind he was still a professional coach. We met at the athletic field. Then he said it was difficult to give me a massage there and suggested going to his house instead. I agreed. Again, I hadn't noticed anything wrong with that, because I was just a middle school student, and because in my eyes he was a coach I respected. We went to his house, and he pointed for me to lie on the bed. After he pressed on the back of my thighs three or four times with his hands, he said to me that it was hard to massage my legs with my jeans on and suggested I take them off. I had trusted him, so I had never imagined he would do something so despicable to his own student. Next, he continued the so-called "massage". Finally, he took off my jeans and underwear and touched my private parts. Even as he took off my underwear, I couldn't react. And so that was what happened. About two years ago, I told this to a very good friend of mine. And to this day, she was the only person who knew about it. Human beings are full of contradictions. I still kept in touch with this coach these past few years. He had taught me for some time, so every year I still wished him happy birthday. Am I insane? How could I wish the coach who sexually assaulted me happy birthday every year? I don't know. Perhaps I thought I could deceive myself, tell myself that this never happened. But I couldn't lie to my body. After that, every time he came close to me, my body would tell me to move back. After that, physical contact was limited to just patting on the head. When I grew up, I'd sometimes come into contact with him, and I'd force myself to say a few words but all I wanted to do was run away. And this only brought about a bunch of gossip about how I was rude and didn't understand the concept of gratitude. After I decided to tell my story, I spent a lot of time debating whether to describe my experiences in detail. On one hand, I didn't want people to put the emphasis on the act itself, but on the other, I wanted everyone to know that the aggressor will rationalize everything and use the victim's trust for him to achieve his goal. I have yet to hear of cases of sexual assault or indecency in the Hong Kong sporting world, but I believe that similar cases do exist. If you unfortunately, like me, have gone through a similar experience, I hope that you will pluck up the courage, seek support from those around you, and no longer be lenient toward offenders. In Chinese culture, topics related to sex have always been considered awkward, embarrassing, and not something you should talk about openly in the the public. Come forward — your courage will affect a lot of people who have travelled down the same road, the same way McKayla did for me. As to my family and those who care about me, please don't blame yourself. Don't feel guilty, because your trust, like mine, was taken advantage of. It wasn't my fault, it wasn't my parents' fault, and it definitely wasn't the school's fault. It was the fault of my offender. As a victim, I don't feel shame. I don't want you to feel sad for me. I want you to applaud me for my courage. "I am not broken. It was not my fault. I am growing strong. I refuse silence." These are the words of a #MeToo victim, and the words of my heart. Today is my 23rd birthday. Telling the truth is a form of release. It's me transitioning from a victim to a survivor. It's a birthday present to myself. If you want to wish me well and show you care, then I hope you will share this post so that the #MeToo movement continues to burn on, touching more people who have been affected and showing the true faces of the offenders. "Is it possible to put an end to this type of abuse? Our silence has given the wrong people power for too long, and it is time to take our power back. And remember, it is never too late to speak up." — McKayla Maroney, 2017 Lui Lai Yiu 11/30/2017" [Image via Facebook.].....»»

The 21-year-old and her mother delivered victim-impact statements in the form of letters to the federal judge presiding over the case against the disgraced team doctor who sexually abused McKayla and her teammates for years. Erin Maroney described the severe impact Nassar's abuse had on her daughter: "This experience has shattered McKayla. She has transformed from a bubbly, positive, loving, world class athlete into a young adult who was deeply depressed, at times suicidal. At times, I was unsure whether I would open her bedroom door and find her dead." We can't even imagine how painful it must be to have to write that about your child. Related: Aly Raisman Admits She Was Sexually Abused By Larry Nassar Erin went on to say that she and her husband "were not allowed to stay with McKayla" while traveling abroad and "sometimes we were not even in the same hotel": "We were never allowed to the U.S. Olympic Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch nor any other training facility. My husband once questioned the propriety of the isolation of the girls during international travel. He was assured by Steve Penny that the girls were safe at all times. 'More safe than the President of the USA,' he said to him. We now know that this was a lie." The mother went on to describe a disturbing incident she now knows about, but was unaware of at the time: "I ... learned a few weeks ago from my daughter that at the world championships in Tokyo, [Nassar] drugged her, made her lay nude on a treatment table, straddled her and digitally penetrated her while rubbing his erect penis against her. She was only 15 years old. She said to me, 'Mom I thought I was going to die.' I cannot tell you the anguish her Dad and I feel and the responsibility we feel for not being aware of this or being able to stop it." McKayla described the same encounter saying Nassar "had given me a sleeping pill for the flight, and the next thing I know, I was all alone with him in his hotel room getting treatment." Erin went on to call out the institutions that kept Nassar's abuse in place: "Our daughter was totally failed by USA Gymnastics, by Michigan State University and by the U.S. Olympic Committee. No one from the USOC has ever reached out to me or my husband or my daughter to inquire about her well being. Not once. No one has apologized. After McKayla spoke with an investigator with USA Gymnastics in July 2015, USA Gymnastics and the USOC kept the knowledge of [Nassar's] status as a child molester secret from Michigan State University after 2015 and even said nothing when he ran for school board in his local school district!" McKayla added: "A simple fact is this. If Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee had paid attention to any of the red flags in Larry Nassar's behavior, I never would have met him, I never would have been 'treated' by him and I never would have been abused by him." The gold medalist powerfully concluded: "He abused my trust, abused my body and left scars on my psyche that may never heal. Larry Nassar deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison." Cosign. This is about as shocking as finding out that Mama Ariel Winter, Crystal with a capital C, whored out her daughter to anyone that would have her from the second she could stand on two feet. With Thorne, it’s more like since the age she could lay on her back, because she states in a new Insta confession that her recollection of sexual assault in the home goes back as far into her childhood as she can remember. Thorne isn’t naming names, but… um, her dad. Major issues in the daddy department are the only explanation for Thorne’s relentless trick-turning and tit-flashing: I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14..when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it. All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again. Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did. But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated. #timesup Parents of child celebrities – something that Thorne allegedly was – are almost always more fucked up than their kids, and I think there’s an exclusive spot in hell for people who not only molest children, but also turn their children into crack whores. I imagine Rosie O’Donnell sits on your face while Kathy Griffin cracks jokes for the rest of eternity. Thorne followed her initial Instagram statement with the tweet: I never knew what was right or wrong growing up..I didn’t know the person sneaking into my bed room at night was a bad person. #timesup That truly is a horrifying thought. Can only imagine how many of Woody Allen’s kids have said the same thing. And yes, please defend Woody Allen in the comments. The catch 22 for Thorne is that she shared her experience at the same time as time as Sunday’s Golden Globes in order to ride the Time’s Up wave, but because she’s not famous and nobody cares about her, the knowledge that she was assaulted until the age of fourteen was soon eclipsed by literally everything else that happened that night. You pretty much only get one of these explosive confessions every couple of years, so Thorne is going to be relegated to flashing the proud work of a drunk plastic surgeon officed in a strip mall and dating Z-list Kardashians until she has something juicier. I’m not trying to dog on Thorne, I just feel bad that the fourteen years of child touching didn’t culminate into anything greater. I would have been much better at being sexually molested.   I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14..when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it.
