Joel Osteen Has A Message For Twitter Devils Who Think His Church Didn"t Do Enough To Help Hurricane Harvey Victims!

Joel Osteen is unbothered by the critics. In a new interview, the megachurch pastor spoke on the backlash he received for not opening his Lakewood Church doors sooner to shelter Hurricane Harvey victims. For those who missed it, Osteen had to make a round of toothy interviews to address accusations saying Lakewood kept its doors closed to hurricane evacuees, and he had a rosary of excuses for doing so. Related: Tyler Perry Donates $1 Million To Hurricane Harvey Relief! Now with Lakewood finally giving shelter to a worthy amount of displaced locals, the church leader has no desire to answer to the haters on social media -- because he's only worried about serving @God. Speaking to ET's Kevin Frazier on Thursday, he explained: "You know, I'm not really concerned about the Twitter critics. We're concerned with these people [victims now at the church] and how they move forward. And there were safety issues that people don't understand. But, I really believe that if people were in my shoes, they would have done the same thing. When the building is clear, when it's safe, we can start taking people. That's what we have done for 60 years. We love helping people and that's what our message is all about." Originally, Lakewood posted that it was "inaccessible due to severe flooding." However, videos shared on Twitter appeared to show the 16,000-seat Houston church in rather dry surroundings. Osteen told critics not to go by those pictures, because he has others that prove the building flooded (Of course, you'll have to take his word for it): "I think another thing that people don't understand -- it could flood. That street could flood and in 14 hours it can be down. ... So, you can't go by that. I have video of it flooded on either Saturday night or Sunday night, I can't remember. But, you know, it can go down in 14, 15 hours." Lakewood eventually opened its doors on Tuesday. In a round of subsequent interviews, Osteen said the city didn't originally ask the church to be a shelter, but instead a "distribution center." Related: Miranda Lambert Has Rescued Over A Hundred Dogs In Texas! Still, that doesn't mean Lakewood couldn't have been better prepared for the disaster. He admitted: "Knowing what I know now, I would have put staff in here before the storm hit, put beds, do everything we could to be prepared. When it catches us by surprise, even when the cities overflow and, you know, nobody dreams that shelters will overflow. ... Hindsight, it's 20/20, but we got to move forward and do what we've done for the last 60 years and take care of these people, help them rebuild their lives, bring hope to their spirits and let them know that they can come out of this stronger than before." Despite Osteen's charitable efforts, a deluge of haters continued to rain down on him on social media. Though the 54-year-old didn't seem to care, as that's a layer of hell he has no intention on giving energy to: "I don't spend any energy on the Twitter universe or social media. And I don't mean that disrespectfully. I just don't put any energy into it. I mean, life is too short to put energy into negative emotion and I feel at peace because we did the right thing….Hey, my reputation is in God's hands and he can take care of that. We're going to continue to help people." That's right, Joel. Judgment is for the Lord -- not your 6.22 million followers on the platform you "don't spend any energy on." Hurricane Harvey Victims Being Told To File Their Insurance Claims BEFORE Friday — Here"s What You Need To Know!

Hurricane Harvey victims have a tough road ahead of them. And it won't get much easier, even with insurance. And it won't get much easier, even with insurance. Apparently many lawyers are urging victims to file their homeowners' insurance claims before Friday, September 1, when a controversial new law goes into effect. Related: How Celebs Are Helping With Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts House Bill 1774 is meant to reduce the number of lawsuits against insurance companies who don't pay off claims for weather-related lawsuits, including damage or loss of property due to "forces of nature" (hurricanes, wind, hail, snow or rainstorms). So what's the issue? If you do have to sue your insurance company and win, the penalty interest rate the insurance company will owe you drops from 18% to 10%. Additionally, lawyers must give insurance companies a heads up about future lawsuits, giving them more time to mount a defense. It does require insurance companies pay for the plaintiff's legal fees as long, but only if the homeowner has 80% accuracy in depicting the damage done to their home -- something that may be tough to prove. Basically the law is making it easier for insurance companies to flake on their payouts to policy holders. One lawyer from the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Craig Eiland, says if homeowners file before Friday, they will not be subject to the new law, even if their lawsuit comes later. Related: Twitter Reacts To Shocking Charlie Hebdo Cover Portraying Harvey Victims As Nazis Important note: flood insurance claims won't be covered by this new law. According to an Insurance Information Institute survey, just about 15% of homes in Harris County, Texas even have flood insurance. And if you did purchase flood insurance, most likely through the National Flood Insurance Program, it will be exempt from state laws. The Texas Trial Lawyers Association also confirmed the new law won't affect much in terms of flooding, though if you have other damage, it wouldn't hurt to file before Friday. Loretta Worters, an exec with the Insurance Information Institute, recommends at least reaching out to your insurance agent to let them know of storm damage to your home, vehicle, etc. Also, be sure to beware of spam insurance calls! Stay safe out there! We will continue to keep the victims of Hurricane Harvey in our thoughts during this difficult time......»»

Donald Trump and Melania Trump jetted off to Texas on Tuesday to aid those affected by this weekend's natural disaster -- only, they weren't exactly dressed for the occasion. Especially FLOTUS, who drew comments on Twitter for looking more like she was going on a post-hurricane *photoshoot* than to an actual disaster site. We mean, you're looking fly as usual, Mel -- but those stilettos make Bryce Dallas Howard's Jurassic World heels look like sensible footwear! Photo: Ivanka Fails To Notice Trump Shade In Her Own Twitpic! In her defense, the First Lady could have a very good reason to be wearing such high-fashion stems while going to help hurricane victims. Maybe she doesn't want to get her heels wet? Maybe she wants the right line of vision while directing Secret Service to prop up any damaged confederate statues? Or maybe these are just her backup pair of Louboutins she doesn't mind getting tainted by water or the poor (ew!). Twitter was ripe with theories, but mostly criticism over the model's wardrobe fail. Your followers become idiots. Supporters took to Twitter this week to praise Donald Trump's response to Hurricane Harvey -- you know, the one where he exploited the tragedy for political gain and just two weeks previously rescinded an executive order to improve flood protections. Sorry, did we say praise Trump? We meant raise him up by tearing down Barack Obama, obviously. Related: Trump Is Literally The Most Unpopular First-Year President EVER The Twittersphere was filled with people talking about how Obama hadn't been nearly as good a president during Hurricane Katrina because he was too busy golfing. Of course, Obama wasn't a good president during Katrina. BECAUSE HE WASN'T PRESIDENT DURING KATRINA! Obama didn't take office until 2009, nearly three and a half years after the Hurricane hit the Gulf Coast. But that didn't stop the parade of ignorance (see below): Will you please get lost. Where were you when Katrina hit, oh right, playing golf. Now you want to play president. NEVER again — Annie Kleynjans (@AnnieKleynjans) August 28, 2017 He literally told the Gov of TX "anything u want, u got it". WTF else is he supposed to do? Be on the golf course like Obama was w/katrina? — Middle America Spoke (@GoBlue1131) August 28, 2017 Obama played golf at Martha's Vinyard when Katrina hit. Now he tries everything to upstage current POTUS. Pathetic. — Shawn Vermillion (@VermillionShawn) August 28, 2017 u guys are so quick to criticize Trump. Where was Obama when Hurricane Katrina hit… o yeah, he was playing golf for 3 days!! … SAD!! — fontaineaux (@Lynchburged) August 29, 2017 He isn't playing golf, like Obama during Katrina. — CJES (@Carolyn31806792) August 29, 2017 Obama played golf for a whole week before doing anything after katrina hit. — Joy Stewart (@ColtsFanJlynRN) August 26, 2017 On this anniversary of #HurricaneKatrina making landfall let us never forget... Barack Obama wasn't president. Stay in school kiddos. pic.twitter.com/qnBxOVTbZF — Schatz 🤦🏻‍♂️ (@emjbourne) August 29, 2017 Yes I do. I was immediately fixed it but the haters pounced quickly while not denying its point which was that Obama stayed golfing. — sheila (@sheila06942158) August 29, 2017 Right. The point still stands. Even though every aspect of it was factually inaccurate. Why are y'all being haters? Are there really THAT many completely ignorant American voters?? Maybe. But some analysts believe most of these Twitter users are actually bots -- fake accounts to send the same message en masse. This kind of commenting is a more pervasive form of spreading propaganda; while the message can be easily disproven, unlike a single website it can't be easily policed. This kind of fake news spreading is believed to have slightly influenced the election, so as ridiculous as this story is, it's no joke. Photos: 10 Times Donald Trump Helped Spread Fake News! Whether Trump supporters are delusional or illusory, we have a real problem here. Oh, and BTW -- Obama, an Illinois Senator at the time, wasn't golfing either.
