DiCaprio Saving Tarantino’s Career

Statutory rape is not really rape according to the laws of consent in Call Me By Your Name and Quentin Tarantino when he’s talking about tipsy 13-year-olds. Statutory rape is not really rape according to the laws of consent in Call Me By Your Name and Quentin Tarantino when he’s talking about tipsy 13-year-olds. The peach scene in CMBYN was pure filth hiding behind arthouse symbolism and Tarantino is a poo person hiding behind Leonardo DiCaprio’s good name that hasn’t been marred by MeToo. Not yet at least. Sony has refused to comment officially on whether or not they will cancel the new Charles Manson movie they’re developing with Tarantino and DiCaprio as a star. According to Tarantino’s agents at William Morris, DiCaprio is committed to the film and “we’re full steam ahead,” on track to start principal photography in June. And what studio is going to say no to a movie with DiCaprio committed to star? The plot reportedly involves a down-on-his-luck TV actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) looking for a comeback via spaghetti westerns; his stuntman is rumored to be either Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. But both Polanski and Sharon Tate are (controversially) included in the movie (Margot Robbie is said to be in talks). There’s clearly a conflict of interest going on here for women that wish to see the film. On one hand there’s a creep that openly supports the actions of Romain Polanski. Expressing your heartfelt belief that hammered 13-year-old girls deserved to be hammered by older men crosses a few lines. But on the other hand Leonardo is an actor most women see when they close their eyes and play with their vibrator. Will women do the right thing and boycott the Mason movie until it’s an official flop? Or is MeToo movement only utilized when it’s convenient and there’s a possible large sum to receive from a settlement? Find out next time on Hollywood selectively supports the darndest things. In a resurfaced interview, Quentin made some extremely controversial remarks about Samantha and how she “wanted to have it.” “He didn’t rape a 13-year-old,” Quentin said during the 2003 interview. “It was statutory rape. That’s not quite the same thing. … He had sex with a minor, all right. That’s not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you’re talking about violent, throwing them down.” Click inside for Quentin Tarantino’s full statement… Quentin Tarantino’s Apology Statement I want to publicly apologize to Samantha Geimer for my cavalier remarks on “The Howard Stern Show” speculating about her and the crime that was committed against her. Fifteen years later, I realize how wrong I was. Ms. Geimer WAS raped by Roman Polanski. When Howard brought up Polanski, I incorrectly played devil’s advocate in the debate for the sake of being provocative. I didn’t take Ms. Geimer’s feelings into consideration and for that I am truly sorry. So, Ms. Geimer, I was ignorant, and insensitive, and above all, incorrect. I am sorry Samantha. After Parting Ways With Weinstein, Tarantino"s Manson Family Movie Becomes Subject Of A MAJOR Bidding War!

Quentin Tarantino hasn't had to think about what studio he's going to make his movies at for over two decades. But now that longtime collaborator Harvey Weinstein's career has gone down in flames, the Django Unchained director and his new Manson family murders script are up in the air. Funny enough, when you already have Jennifer Lawrence, [...] Quentin Tarantino hasn't had to think about what studio he's going to make his movies at for over two decades. But now that longtime collaborator Harvey Weinstein's career has gone down in flames, the Django Unchained director and his new Manson family murders script are up in the air. Funny enough, when you already have Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, and Brad Pitt interested, the whole script-selling business becomes something of a seller's market. Related: Robert Rodriguez Says Weinstein 'Buried' Grindhouse Because Of Rose McGowan According to a new report in The Wrap, Tarantino is shopping the movie around to Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, etc. -- but requiring execs to actually physically travel to his agent's office to read the damn thing! You may recall Quentin had some trouble with his script for The Hateful Eight being leaked. Then the studios have to place their bids, after which they have to pitch themselves to him! Damn! Apparently one smaller studio made an "aggressive" bid without even seeing the script. (We're going to guess the rising A24, who've recently made waves with award-winning indies like Moonlight, The Witch, and Ex Machina. But that's just a guess.) Of course, Quentin has said for the past couple years that he would be retiring after ten movies. Securing the ninth Tarantino movie would go a long way toward getting first dibs on the last Tarantino movie, assuming they kept the filmmaker happy. Innerestingly, neither Amazon nor Netflix -- who have both been winning a lot of bidding wars lately -- were included in the report. We're guessing Mr. 70mm doesn't want his penultimate movie going straight to the small screen. What do YOU think of QT starting a bidding war for his Manson movie?? Quentin Tarantino KNEW Harvey Weinstein "Did A Couple Of These Things" — Read His Confession In Frank New Interview!

Quentin Tarantino knew way too much about the exploits of Harvey Weinstein to sit by and do nothing. And now he's finally, publicly acknowledging that hard truth. And now he's finally, publicly acknowledging that hard truth. Related: All 45+ Women Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein So Far In a very confessional interview with The New York Times out on Thursday, the Django Unchained director declares: "Everyone who was close to Harvey had heard of at least one of those incidents. It was impossible they didn't." As for himself, he addresses a few of the incidents involving well-known actresses, including the fact Harvey had reached a settlement with Rose McGowan over her alleged rape way back in 1997. Quentin admits: "I knew enough to do more than I did... There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn't secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things." He says his inaction now fills him with shame and remorse: "I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him." That would have been a start. Related: LAPD Opens Harvey Weinstein Rape Investigation So why didn't he? He begins to explain: "What I did was marginalize the incidents." Though he already realizes: "Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse." Yep. Specifically, Quentin addresses the incident he was most familiar with, Harvey's unwanted advances toward Mira Sorvino. The director heard all about it directly from the Mighty Aphrodite star when the two dated shortly after. When she relayed the story she would wait over 20 years to tell publicly as part of Ronan Farrow's New Yorker exposé, Quentin says he didn't understand it as a pattern of a predator but as an isolated incident: "I was shocked and appalled... I couldn't believe he would do that so openly. I was like: ‘Really? Really?' But the thing I thought then, at the time, was that he was particularly hung up on Mira... I thought Harvey was hung up on her in this Svengali kind of way. Because he was infatuated with her, he horribly crossed the line." Quentin ultimately brushed off even what he knew was "crossing the line" because his attitude at the time was that his own presence in the situation would put a stop to it. He recalls thinking: "I'm with her, he knows that, he won't mess with her, he knows that she's my girlfriend." Weinstein didn't go after Mira again, so that seemed to be that. Though obviously it wasn't. Related: France's Got Talent Judge Accused Of Sexual Misconduct Against NINE Women, Including A 14-Year-Old! Tarantino says he heard other stories through the grapevine over the years but admits they didn't weigh on him either: "I chalked it up to a '50s-'60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk. As if that's O.K. That's the egg on my face right now." After taking some time to come to terms with his own complicity, Quentin says he now believes Hollywood has been "operating under an almost Jim Crow-like system that us males have almost tolerated": "We allowed it to exist because that's the way it was." Now Quentin says he's through keeping his eyes and mouth shut -- and hopes his colleagues will do likewise: "I'm calling on the other guys who knew more to not be scared. Don't just give out statements. Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. Vow to do better by our sisters." Ultimately, Tarantino, who worked with Weinstein for decades, says he is still perplexed by all the things he's read about the man he thought he knew: "I don't have an answer for why he could do this and be stripped of his entire legacy." As for whether he believes the public will forever link him and his film legacy to Harvey's misdeeds, he says simply: "I don't know. I hope it doesn't." "My Rape Is Being Used To Attack" Quentin Tarantino — "And I Really Don"t Like That"

Samantha Geimer does not want anyone twisting her words. The woman who was raped by Roman Polanski in 1977 when she was just 13 years old found herself in the spotlight again this week after an old Quentin Tarantino interview was unearthed in which he flippantly defended Polanski. Related: Uma Thurman Defends Tarantino As She Releases Kill Bill Crash Footage Geimer naturally had something to say about that, but now she says her words were misconstrued by many. She clarified to IndieWire: "I did not call him out or slam him. When asked, I said he was wrong, as in incorrect, about what happened. I thought he knew better now, 15 years later, and did not expect that he would repeat that, because he would only make himself look bad. Okay, I said, "like an ass." But the sentiment was that he certainly knows better. The wording that he assumed I wanted to be "raped," I don't know where that came from, but he never said that. What I was really trying to say to those who called is, I don't care. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not upset, this and worse has been happening to me for years. And mostly, I am aware that my rape is being used to attack him and I really don't like that." Geimer says she never expected to speak to Tarantino on the phone but made the most of his personal apology: "I think he realizes that the things he said to be shocking involve an actual person — me — and he wasn't thinking about that at the time. He felt bad about it. While I had him on the phone, I made him talk to me about some of his movies. Ha, ha. Didn't want to waste that opportunity. He is sincere in his apology and I told him I felt my rape was being used to attack him by people who don't care about what happened to me, and I do take offense to that." Ha! She asked movie questions! She also apparently tried to get a scoop about his upcoming Sharon Tate film, which she thought sounded in bad taste: "I asked him about his upcoming movie, because I heard it's about Sharon Tate's murder. I was like, "That's just freaking me out. I don't know why. It sounds awful." He said, "No, that's not what it's about. It's about that time period and that year." Although it certainly has nothing to do with me and I'm not sure quite sure why, but I was thinking, "Don't make a movie about that!" I was happy that he could put my mind to rest on a completely random thing like that." Cannot blame her a BIT. But ultimately Geimer says the apology did make a difference, just as the one from Polanski did many years later. She says: "I think apologies go a long way to help the person who was wronged and the person that is apologizing. I often say I don't need them, but in truth, they always have a positive impact... Talking to Quentin, I know he just wasn't thinking and I didn't take it personally the way he was talking on Howard Stern. But then once I saw it in writing the next day, I realized, it did make me feel better. So, apologies — I think you should take them, even if you don't want them." As for people being offended on her behalf, she's sick of it. In her opinion people should spend less time policing jokes and gaffes and more time fighting for real change: "I am one of those people who thinks that you can have humor about anything. I have a good sense of humor, and when people make jokes about me, I laugh. I think that people should just take their indignation and not watch people they find offensive. If you don't think it's funny, you don't think it's funny. You don't have to apologize for making a joke unless you really screw it up. Apologies should be sincere. I don't think we should apologize for stuff we don't feel sorry for. All this nitpicking and attacking people is missing the point. It's like, hey, could we have some equal rights over here? How about equal pay? Perhaps stop sexually harassing people at work? Instead, it's all, "Quentin Tarantino made shitty jokes!" No, women, focus. It's not all about celebrities and taking people down. Let's be positive and move forward. I think being spiteful and taking people down you don't like them isn't helping anybody. We all see what's happening. If you're not doing something positive, if you're not making a difference, stop pretending you are. Just be like, "I hate that guy." [laughs] I'm in a weird spot. I've been in this weird spot my whole life. People are like, "We hate Roman because of what he did to you." I'm fine, I don't want anybody to hate anybody, and you actually don't give a shit about me. What bothers me is that people are attacking somebody else at your expense. Let's throw your rape out there to attack Quentin Tarantino. That hypocrisy bothers me because I'm in that spot where that happens to me. This is just the way it goes, in my life anyway, and we all say stupid things." What do YOU think of Geimer's take? [Image via ITV/FayesVision/WENN.].....»»
