Five Women Detail James Franco"s Alleged Sexually Exploitative Behavior To The Los Angeles Times

As you've likely heard, amid The Disaster Artist star's big win at the Golden Globes on Sunday, several women called Franco a hypocrite for wearing a Time's Up pin as they claimed he had previously been sexually inappropriate with them. While James has since made the press rounds to defend his innocence, five women have spoken to The Los Angeles Times to detail their experiences with the A-lister. Related: Ronan Farrow Talks The Abuse Allegations Against Woody Allen Sarah Tither-Kaplan, who attended the acting school founded by Franco and starred in several of his projects, said James' public Time's Up support at the Globes "was like a slap in [her] face." Of the five women who spoke with The Times, four claimed to be ex students and one noted that James was once her "mentor." On her working experience with the Freak & Geeks alum, Tither-Kaplan noted: "I feel there was an abuse of power, and there was a culture of exploiting non-celebrity women, and a culture of women being replaceable." Having taken Franco's Sex Scenes class, Sarah jumped at the opportunity to work professionally with her teacher. Sadly, the experience was not what the actress expected. Apparently, while filming an orgy scene with the Ivy League educated star three years ago, James removed the protective plastic guards that covered the actresses' vaginas amid simulating oral sex on them. Also, per Tither-Kaplan, one actress was sent home after she balked at James' direction about acting topless: "I got it in my head pretty quickly that, OK, you don't say ‘no' to this guy." Although, to James' credit, he did apologize to Sarah amid the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The complainant confessed: "I want to give him credit for at least being open to communicating with me. I felt that he was still not really taking accountability for the environment on the sets." Man, oh man. Actress Violet Paley also vocalized an upsetting encounter with James, as she opened up about the romantic relationship she had with him in 2016. According to Violet, James pressured her to perform oral sex while they were sitting in a car. She relayed: "I was talking to him, all of a sudden his penis was out. I got really nervous, and I said, ‘Can we do this later?' He was kind of nudging my head down, and I just didn't want him to hate me, so I did it." Eventually, Violet stopped performing the sexual act as she told Franco she spotted someone near the vehicle. On how she'd handle the situation today, Paley said: "I would say, ‘No, stop, get out of my car.' The power dynamic was really off." Paley reached out to Franco about the incident, but he defended that he hadn't done "anything illegal." He also insisted that he was a "changed man" and acknowledged it was wrong of him to pursue a sexual relationship with someone who was recovering from substance abuse. Related: Here's What Tommy Wiseau Would've Said At The Globes… Two additional students, from a course taught at Playhouse West, confirmed that they've had negative on set experiences with the industry vet. Both women, named Hilary Dusome and Natalie Chmiel, have claimed that Franco became angry when actresses on set refused to be topless while filming. Dusome recalled: "I felt like I was selected for something based on my hard work and my merit, and when I realized it was because I have nice [breasts], it was pretty clear that was not the case. I don't think he started teaching with bad intentions, but he went down a bad path and damaged a lot of people in the process." Smh. Chmiel confirmed that James got "visibly angry," and added: "He just took advantage of our eagerness to work and be a part of something bigger. We were all these up-and-coming actors who were so hopeful." Although more than a dozen students have vouched for Franco's acting school, named Studio 4, enough performers have expressed dissatisfaction with James' teaching method. In addition to claims that the 39-year-old would fall asleep during class, a few former students have suggested that Studio 4 falsely promised to funnel actors into the superstar's personal projects. Los Angeles based actress Devyn LaBella shared: "They would tell us that smaller parts in their projects were being held exclusively for students — often they were opportunities for extra work or parts that required nudity. I didn't have agency representation at the time, so I thought, ‘Well, I'm not going to be able to get into good auditions, so this might be my opportunity.'" After uploading auditions to a website, she admitted that no one she knew ever heard back. A woman, named Katie Ryan, suggested that Franco seemingly implied there were roles for those who performed sexual favors on him. She stated: "[James] would always make everybody think there were possible roles on the table if we were to perform sexual acts or take off our shirts." Allegedly, for years, Ryan received audition requests from James to play "a prostitute or a hooker." How awful. Unsurprisingly, Franco's lawyer Michael Plonsker denied each of the troubling allegations and advised The Times to refer to James' denial on The Late Show. Not to mention, Rabbit Bandini co-owner Vince Jolivette defended that Studio 4 "was always run professionally." We're sure this isn't the last we've heard about this scandal, be sure to check back for any updates. [Image via Regina Wagner/Future Image/WENN.].....»»

James Franco Talks Being A Bad Boyfriend, Quitting Instagram, & His TERRIBLE Job Hosting The Oscars In Candid Interview!

It's a question James Franco has been trying to answer for years. Video: Watch Franco Grab An Ax And Scare People At Halloween Horror Nights! On the eve of his already critically lauded effort The Disaster Artist, the actor-director sat down with Variety to talk about all his different real-life roles through the years -- and we don't mean the guy who cut his arm off. Franco says he accidentally developed a "public persona" different from his private one: "My public persona is this weird part of me, but not part of me. Other outlets use it to sell magazines. Why can't I have fun with it? On the other hand, it becomes you. There was a period 10 years ago that I wasn't the James Franco that everyone suddenly knew, doing all these things. It's almost like the mask gets fused to your face. That mask of fame, sort of gets stuck on your face whether you're being facetious or being serious. It's a hard thing to talk about, because you start sounding like a douche." Speaking of douche-like behavior, Franco tells a story about a time in his career when he let his preoccupation with work turn him into a terrible boyfriend! "This old girlfriend was visiting me in New York. I had come out here for school. My cat had scratched her in the eye. I had so much work to get done for the next day, I didn't take her to the hospital. I had my assistant take her. That moment haunted me so much. What kind of selfish, self-centered boyfriend are you?" Thankfully new girlfriend Isabel Pakzad is with the more mature Franco. (No, not Dave Franco, we're still talking about James! LOLz!) He already got the chance to do better, accompanying her to the hospital when she got a throat infection during the San Sebastian Film Festival this past September. Related: Franco Says He Doesn't Watch Porn Anymore! Also helping with the personal growth? Franco quit Instagram! "It's very liberating. I just got rid of it. When I first got on, it just felt silly. I treated it like it was a joke. You get in that weird seductive space where it feels private, but it's also public. And you get hooked on the reaction." That reaction led him to be more and more provocative just to see what would happen. Like when he infamously posted this nearly nude pic (below): Franco explains: "I was testing the bounds. It's sort of the way I see people like the Kardashians. They are staking out new ground and what these spaces are. They are making a lot of money off of it. What will happen if I do that? And you get reactions. There was some photo I did. I wasn't naked. I'm sure Rihanna has posted a bunch more risqué photos. It was just the attitude of the photo. It was sweaty. My hand was in my boxers. It just looked gross. And I remember Gucci saying, ‘Don't do any more photos like that.'" It's far from the most embarrassing thing he ever did. No, that would be the 2011 Oscars, in which he served as host with Anne Hathaway. "At the time I justified it to myself. 'This will be an experiment. This will be weird.' Part of me was so uncomfortable with the attention of being nominated [for 127 Hours], but also fear of losing, because everybody was talking about Colin Firth [who did go on to win for The King's Speech]." Franco says he thought hosting would give him something else to focus on and also allow him to look OK when he eventually lost. "I mean, I shouldn't have been doing it. Honestly, I think the biggest criticism of me, it seemed like I was high or low energy. In my head, I was trying to be the straight man. I guess I just went too far or came across as the dead man. Well, we don't know if he'll get any award love for his new role, but he def took it just as seriously! Video: Watch The Disaster Artist Trailer! Franco describes the process for transforming himself into the role of The Room actor-director-producer Tommy Wiseau: "I had 2.5 hours of prosthetics. We used cheeks, because he has very severe cheekbones. A nose-piece not for the full nose but for the bridge. We did a little piece on the eyelid, because he has a lazy eye on one side. And blue contacts." He also transformed his body to match Wiseau's "very strange muscularity" by doing 300 sit-ups and pushups a day and eating only salad for lunch and dinner. Sounds like Franco is saving his mask wearing just for in front of the camera these days. And we can't WAIT to see it! The Disaster Artist hits theaters Friday, December 1. James Franco is being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women after winning a Golden Globe for The Disaster Artist. Although many actresses are pointing the finger at Franco, Ally Sheedy is the lady who got the ball rolling. I can think of no better time to ask these women “why wasn’t anything said before” but speaking out against such atrocities when they actually happen draws less attention to the victim. Timing accusations just right may mean the difference between a few celebrity blogs picking up the story or having your own E! TV special like Rose McGowan. There’s no doubt that allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment are turning into a sniper sport. It’s hunting season in Hollywood and all big names are big game. Ally Sheedy’s now deleted comments: Why is a man hosting? Why is James Franco allowed in? Said too much. Nite love ya. Ok wait. Bye. Christian Slater and James Franco at a table [at the] Golden Globes #MeToo. James Franco just won. Please never ask me why I left the film/tv business. It’s clear that all men in attendance who wore “Time’s Up” pins are under thorough investigation after the recent Franco outing. Men in “Time’s Up” pins are silently signaling to every women who has seen their penis to not ruin their career. Because the definition of sexual harassment is changing everyday and retroactively retracting your consent is now an option for elite women. If the allegations are true James pretending to be an ally of a cause to launder his past sins falls under being one of the oldest tricks in the book. Most Americans love a redemption story. Mel Gibson recovered. Give Weinstein a few years if he somehow manages to walk away a free man and TWC will reign supreme once more, rising like the Phoenix from the ashes. Cute #TIMESUP pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17 year old? — Violet Paley (@VioletPaley) January 8, 2018 Hey James Franco, nice #timesup pin at the #GoldenGlobes , remember a few weeks ago when you told me the full nudity you had me do in two of your movies for $100/day wasn’t exploitative because I signed a contract to do it? James Franco Wrote About Meeting "Young Girls" For Sex In Creepy 2013 Book…

On the one hand, he's a brilliant actor who seems to have matured before our eyes and is getting rightful acclaim for his work directing and starring in The Disaster Artist. On the other, a LOT of young women in Hollywood are talking about what a sleaze he's been, with five telling The Los Angeles Times the actor engaged in inappropriate or exploitative behavior while on set or in acting classes. Related: Here's Why James Franco Skipped Out On The Critics' Choice Awards! While the Golden Globe winner is so far denying any of the accusations are "accurate" he did talk about what could be seen as predatory behavior once -- in his book Actors Anonymous. The 2013 novel gives fictitious accounts of actors' lives in Hollywood. But given the recent news people couldn't help but read into some telling excerpts -- told in first person -- about a movie star's sex life with "young girls." Franco wrote (below): "One of my favorite approaches was to ask young girls that requested to take a photo with me to email me a copy of the photo; that way I can give them my info very quickly in front of a crowd of fans and later work out a way to see them. Usually this happens at an event, which means I am usually away from home, so I have girls all over the world. Usually they are ready when I go back to that city, whether it is Rome, Portland, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Asheville, or D.C." This is all meant to be in character, not autobiographical. But the photo method does bear a striking resemblance to that story of meeting and accidentally corresponding with an underage Scottish girl that the actor embarrassingly admitted to nearly four years back. Hmm. Related: The Deuce Co-Creator Responds To Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against James Franco -- or sorry, this one character -- goes on to describe one such meeting with an "okay-looking" girl whom he didn't have time to ask out when he first met her in Toronto. But after she emailed him the photo, they started communicating until eventually hooking up: "In the intervening months she had sent me plenty of photos of her body and especially her ass bent over in a G-string, so when she arrived at my Lower East Side apartment, I was ready and she was ready. Not only did she allow me to do everything I wanted to her, she let me film it on my phone." Other lines of note? "I had something going on with most of my female costars and worked up a routine so that I could see someone every night." and "Lots of actors like to screw the extras. It's pretty easy." and "You can usually score with your acting partner after the first make-out scene." and from the book's preface, presumably writing as the real James Franco... "Acting teachers are fucked up. They are unlike any other teachers because they deal with their students' emotions and bodies." We'd hate to set a precedent of judging people by their fiction -- goodness knows no one thinks George R.R. Martin is running around setting people on fire with a dragon -- but considering women came forward with complaints about Franco in his role as an acting teacher, this is not a good look. What do YOU think about these excerpts?? [Image via Daniel Deme/WENN.].....»»

Just when James Franco finally found a vanity project that connected with audiences, he was withheld Oscar consideration for alleged sexual misconduct. James Franco And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The actor nabbed the Best Actor Golden Globe for his performance as Tommy Wiseau in The Room-based flick The Disaster Artist, but is notably absent from the newly-announced Oscar nominee lineup. Earlier this month Ally Sheedy got the assailant-shaming started with cryptic tweets, and was quickly joined by other women claiming that Franco conducted himself inappropriately around them. One flash of Franco’s toothy smile makes me feel like I’ve been molested by a trusted uncle, but that alone doesn’t make him guilty of anything besides being foul to all the senses. While no hard evidence has been brought up against Franco, if you even so much as tangentially shame a victim, Rose McGowan will hunt you down and swallow you with her Sarlacc vagina, so Franco pretty much finds himself without any defenders. Either “innocent until proven guilty” just isn’t as headline-worthy as it once was, or Franco really did rape a bunch of women. Or make them feel uncomfortable. Or something. The nuances aren’t fun. Last year Casey Affleck – an alleged assailant who always looks like he just rolled out of a brothel where he stabbed three women – accepted his Best Actor award for Manchester By The Sea with only minor backlash. But that was before people cared about the widespread abuse of power in Hollywood. It’s almost as if Franco is paying the price for Affleck’s win, and while I don’t wish anything good for Franco ever, this whole thing would make a little more sense if we had more evidence. Oh wait, did you just fall asleep? Yeah me too. Hang the bitch! Photo Credit: New Line Cinema The post No Oscar Nomination For You, Alleged Assailant James Franco appeared first on wwtdd......»»

According to reports out this weekend, James Franco is not planning on shying away from tonight's SAG Awards, and he will be in attendance as a nominee even despite ongoing accusations swirling around him over sexual misconduct. Related: Franco Is Getting Death Threats Now, Too Franco's reps confirmed late this week that he will be one of the nearly 1,300 people in attendance in El Lay later tonight when the award show happens. It's a big deal because Franco is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his work on The Disaster Artist... and yet he's also been dogged recently by a LOT of chatter surrounding questions of possible sexual misconduct. This all comes after Franco skipped the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards, too, despite winning the award there for Best Actor in a Comedy. It sounds like SAG-AFTRA is prepared for this, though, with their executive producer acknowledging that they are going to handle this very delicately considering Franco's attendance and what's happening outside the show. Related: Actress Explains Her Refusal To Wear Black At Golden Globes Show EP Kathy Connell said earlier this week (below): "We're always conscious of relationships. We particularly like the positive ones, where we get to put people who might be in two different casts but might have a very positive relationship or be married or be engaged or be in love closer together. So, we're always cognizant of who's in our room." Hmm... Still no wonder on whether Franco will take Sharon Osbourne's advice and go to one of these award shows with his dick out. What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Do U want to see Franco tonight at the show? Should he have stayed home? Let us know in the comments (below). [Image via NBC.].....»»

The recent Vanity Fair cover making the rounds for its body positivity – namely for celebrating Reese Witherspoon’s three legs and Oprah Winfrey’s three hands – was originally supped to be even crappier with the inclusion of James Franco, Vanity Fair representatives tell The Hollywood Reporter. But recently Franco was labeled as a sexual assailant – in addition to being a narcissistic gay-baiting opportunistic walking canvas of smile lines created by cackling at his own jokes – and was axed at the last second, reducing the number of stars accompanying outgoing VF editor Graydon Carter on the cover to twelve. Or eleven if you take into account the fact that Nicole Kidman was replaced with a painting of 90’s Naomi Watts. Honestly it’s getting embarrassing at this point. Here’s what the spokespimp for Vanity Fair had to say about dropping Franco’s ass: We made a decision not to include James Franco on the Hollywood cover once we learned of the misconduct allegations against him. The films and TV shows represented by the actors in this year’s Hollywood Portfolio — which for the first time offers a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot — took the #MeToo movement in stride, offering strong women in leading roles, as well as strong men supporting them. You will know that this site has been hijacked by Russians if I ever start to defend Franco against anything, but I do wonder what his accusers have up their sleeves, because Franco sure is getting stage four shat on by the industry without having any hard evidence against him, as far as we know. The fact that Franco is simply able to live with himself every day already proves that he’s delusional and suffers from some sort of psychosis, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the rumors were true and he forced his Pineapple Express into some teen’s face. Allegedly. Not innocent until proven guilty is so much more fun. I wish we had been doing this all along.   Photo Credit: Pacific Coast News, Vanity Fair The post James Franco Removed From #MeThree! Related: SAG Awards 2018 Red Carpet Fashion! While Alison's Netflix hit is all about female empowerment, she's also incredibly close to husband Dave Franco's family. Thus, we can only imagine how torn the Mad Men alum feels during this time. Thankfully, Alison didn't dodge the question as she addressed the alleged misconduct with Giuliana Rancic. The 35-year-old shared: "I think that above all, what we've always said is it remains vital that anyone that feels victimized should and does have the right to speak out and come forward. I obviously support my family. Not everything that has been reported is fully accurate, so I think we're waiting to get all the information. But of course now is the time for listening and that's what we're all trying to do." Nothing could more accurately describe the moment Tommy Wiseau stormed the Golden Globes stage after James Franco won Best Actor for portraying the oddball filmmaker in The Disaster Artist. After Franco's name was called, Wiseau bolted from the far back of the room to meet James and his little brother/costar Dave Franco onstage -- and headed straight for the microphone. You could almost hear everyone in the room cheering him on! This was finally his moment of glory! Photo: Tonya Harding & Tommy Living Their BEST Lives At The Globes! But alas, Wiseau was mic-blocked by a grinning Franco at the last second, and the world was denied what could have been the best acceptance speech of all time. Needless to say, everyone (including Seth Rogen) was wondering just what The Room star would have said had he gotten the chance. Speaking to the LA Times, Wiseau said his message would have been: "If a lot of people loved each other, the world would be a better place to live." V profound, Tommy. Though we think the crowd would have preferred something more like, "Oh hai, Oprah!" Related: Women Call Out Franco's Predatory Past! As for Franco's portrayal of him, Wiseau only had glowing things to say -- except when it came to the Globe winner's ability to throw a football. He continued: "[James] did such a great job, talking as a director and an actor. I think he make a big effort, which sometimes from the outside is extremely difficult to understand that. He did good with accent. His brother Dave did good as well. They really studied character. But he doesn't know how to throw football, that's for sure!" Speech or no, Wiseau was finally able to be a part of Hollywood ceremony he always dreamed of -- a dream, he said, that anyone can attain. He added: "See ‘The Room,' have fun, and enjoy life. The American Dream is alive, and it's real." Honestly, we would've preferred a rambling speech from Tommy over James comparing himself and Dave to the Coen Brothers. But as we know, Hollywood can be a cruel place. [Image via ABC.].....»»

This weekend Scarlett Johansson took to the stage at the Los Angeles Women’s March to share words of inspiration with hundreds of thousands of women uniting to fight inequality and underrepresentation, but more importantly, she took the opportunity to SLAM the h8ers! Well, one h8er in particular, James Franco. Obsessing over a man at a women’s march. Ugh chicks amirite. While the sexual assault allegations against Franco are still just that, allegations, as far as the public knows, Johansson seems to have some behind-the-scenes knowledge that makes her pretty damn sure he’s a culprit, or at least enough of a culprit to publically SLAM: How could a person publicly stand by an organization that helps to provide support for victims of sexual assault while privately preying on people who have no power? She then brings the sass attack with: I want my pin back, by the way. If that slam fell flat, just know that Franco sported a Time’s Up pin to the Golden Globes even though at the time he was a freshly-minted assailant. Scarlett’s representatives further clarified the slam by confirming that she was indeed talking about Franco. Sneaky. Unfortunately for Scarlett the curse of the Soon-Yi fell upon her shortly after her speech, because as a woman who worked with Woody Allen on three different projects between the years of 2005 and 2008 –  Match Point, Scoop, and Vicky Christina Barcelona – she for many people has the word “complicit” stamped on her forehead. And now headlines detailing her possibly hypocrisy are all but superseding her original slamming of Franco. But if appearing in an Allen flick makes Johansson complicit, what about the other hundreds of actors who have worked on Allen flicks, including activist Meryl Streep? Certainly not everyone in Hollywood is somehow complicit – only shedding their blinders once they’re out of the gate and on their way to success? No that would be insane.    Photo Credit: Getty Images The post Scarlett Johansson Word Slaps James Franco At Women’s March appeared first on wwtdd......»»

James Franco Continues To Deny Sexual Misconduct Allegations — Only This Time On Seth Meyers" Late Night!

As we previously reported, earlier this week, The Disaster Artist actor stopped by Stephen Colbert's The Late Show and vehemently denied the sexual misconduct allegations that were recently brought against him on Twitter. Franco essentially repeated this entire appearance, only this time, he sat down and discussed the controversy on Seth Meyers' Late Night. Related: Here's What Tommy Wiseau Would've Said At The Globes… ICYMI, during Sunday's telecast of the Golden Globes, actress Ally Sheedy and countless others took to social media to drag James for wearing a Time's Up pin. Many took issue with James supporting the women's rights movement as, in 2014, the Freaks & Geeks alum attempted to pickup a 17-year-old via the internet. The conversation took a darker turn when a few women spoke out and accused the A-lister of being sexually inappropriate with them. Like he noted on The Late Show, Franco reiterated that the allegations made "were not accurate." He shared with Seth: "I was sent a couple of the tweets. So yeah, I did read them. I haven't responded. The ones I read were not accurate, but one of the things that I've learned is that this is a conversation that obviously needs to be had. There are people, women and others, who have not been a part of this conversation. I truly believe, and why I was wearing the pin, is that they need to be a part of this conversation. I support them." We have a feeling the 39-year-old's publicist had something to do with THAT answer. When asked about The Breakfast Club star's online shade, James once again acted baffled by the whole situation. The controversial filmmaker continued: "I had a great relationship with her. She took the tweet down. I don't know. I really don't... I don't know. It was so shocking. I don't know. I just...I guess I'm just letting it be." Again, just because someone deleted a tweet, doesn't mean they don't still stand by what they said. Perhaps Sheedy was just afraid of getting sued??? Meyers then asked Seth Rogen's bestie if he had taken a moment to "look back and question" his past behavior amid the accusations. Franco relayed: "I think what I really learned, and being here this week, and that show that we were [at]—it was so powerful in there. Like I said, there are stories that need to get out. There are people that need to be heard. I have my own side of this story, but I believe in these people that have been underrepresented getting their stories out enough that I will hold back things that I could say just because I believe in that much. If I have to take a knock because I'm not going to try and actively refute things, then I will, because I believe in it that much." WAIT. WHAT? Did James just label himself martyr?? It's safe to say that he's feeling V V V bold. Be sure to watch the whole interview for yourself (below). [Image via NBC.].....»»

James Franco Says The Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Him Are "Not Accurate"

Stephen Colbert isn't afraid to ask James Franco the tough questions. On Tuesday, the Golden Globes winner stopped by The Late Show, where he chatted with the chat show host about the recent allegations brought against him on Twitter. ICYMI, during Sunday's telecast of the Globes, actress Ally Sheedy and countless others took to social media to drag James for wearing a Time's Up pin. Related: Here's What Tommy Wiseau Would've Said At The Globes... Why?? Well, several people referred to the A-lister's 2014 attempt to pickup a 17-year-old via the internet. However, a few women added to the conversation by implying that the 39-year-old acted sexually inappropriate with them. So, obviously, Colbert HAD to ask Franco about the allegations during their visit. On the damning claims, the Freaks & Geeks alum noted: "I haven't read them. I've heard about them." He went on to address The Breakfast Club star's shade first, seeming baffled by her decision to put him on blast. He continued: "Okay, first of all, I have no idea what I did to Ally Sheedy, I directed her in a play Off-Broadway. I had nothing but a great time with her, total respect for her. I have no idea why she was upset... She took the tweet down. I don't know. I can't speak for her, I don't know." Taking a tweet down doesn't mean Ally doesn't stand by what she said, rather, she might just be afraid of a lawsuit. Just sayin'... As for the sexual assault accusations, Franco addressed them by suggesting that the women's accounts "were not accurate." The filmmaker added: "The others… look, in my life, I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I've done. I have to do that to maintain my well-being. I do it whenever I know that there is something wrong or needs to be changed, I make it a point to do it... The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn't have a voice for so long... So I don't want to, you know, shut them down in any way. It's, I think, a good thing and I support it." James is certainly pulling out his best material for this damage control segment. Which makes sense as The New York Times JUST canceled an event which was meant to feature James and his brother, Dave Franco. On why they pulled Wednesday's slated TimesTalk, the newspaper explained: "The event was intended to be a discussion of the making of the film, The Disaster Artist. Given the controversy surrounding recent allegations, we're no longer comfortable proceeding in that vein." Since The New York Times has been leading the charges against predatory Hollywood powerhouses, it's smart that they've chosen to distance themselves from James during this scandal. Regardless, the California native is vehement that he is a genuine supporter of the Time's Up movement. The industry vet even defended why he chose to wear the campaign's pin on the Golden Globes red carpet: "Well, first, I want to say I wore it because I do support it. I was, you know – look, I was so excited to win, but being in that room that night was incredible. I mean, it was powerful... There were incredible voices, and I support it. I support change. I support 50/50 and 20/20 which just means, you know, people that are underrepresented, women, and people of color, people in the LGBT community get, you know, positions – leadership positions that they fill all positions that they have been deprived of, I completely believe in that." Be sure to watch James' entire sit down with Stephen for yourself (below). [Image via CBS.].....»»

Review: ‘The Disaster Artist’ Is The ‘Citizen Kane’ of James Franco Movies

The Disaster Artist is a show biz tale about the making of The Room, which is the worst movie ever made. Its absolute inept storytelling and abysmal acting has earned it with the distinction of being the Citizen Kane of bad movies. Director/actor James Franco turns that seeming dishonor into a much more sublime journey of friendship and perseverance. Greg Sestero (Dave Franco) is a struggling actor who is immediately captivated by Tommy Wiseau’s (James Franco) passionate yet absolutely out there performance during acting class. Wiseau beats to the tune of a different drummer, and Sestero is immediately captivated by his spontaneous friend (the pair drive to the spot where James Dean was killed during the dead of night). This bond eventually leads them to Los Angeles where they pursue their thespian dreams (Sharon Stone has a brief cameo as Sestero’s agent). Seeing Sestero’s frustration over the lack of opportunities coming his way, Wiseau decides to write a screenplay that will be toplined by both of them, thus leading into the formation of The Room. Armed with an impressively solvent bank account, Wiseau is determined to make a film that spotlights their mutual artistry. Other filmmakers would have taken this true story (it’s based on Sestero’s book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made) and turned it into a biting satire on the vagaries of movie making. Another storytelling approach would probably focus on Sestero and Wiseau’s lack of talent, humorously mocking them for their failed film. But Franco has deeper things on his mind, and he turns The Disaster Artist into a surprisingly evocative look at an unlikely friendship that can weather the harshest of storms. A substantial portion of the narrative centers on the making of The Room, and it’s filled with very funny moments with Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Ari Graynor, and Josh Hutcherson, just to name a few. Watching the cast and crew try their honest best to make The Room a good film, even with the well meaning but ultimately egomaniacal Wiseau controlling all aspects of production, is must see viewing that will garner its share of attention. The emotional anchor of the film rests on the chemistry between the Francos, as their affection for each other immediately pulls us into Sestero and Wiseau’s friendship. When their movie finally premieres to an unsuspecting audience, and the laughter unfurls, we hope these buddies find a way out of this ridicule, and without giving too much away, they both learn to appreciate The Room in an entirely different light. Franco’s diverse talents as a novelist, teacher, director, and actor have also been criticized over the years, and it’s easy to see why he sees a bit of a kinship with Wiseau. Both men are passionate about creating projects with the ones they love, and one would assume he poured his heart and soul into The Disaster Artist. Though it may not be considered the worst movie of all time, The Disaster Room is definitely the Citizen Kane of James Franco movies and one of my favorite films of 2017. The Disaster Artist, co-staring Alison Brie and Jackie Weaver, opens nationwide today. Find Us On Facebook: Hollywood Outbreak Follow Us On Twitter: @Hollyoutbreak Posted by: Greg Srisavasdi.....»»

Ashley Judd Condemns "Binary Thinking" Following Unexpected James Franco Praise

Ashley Judd is pleading her case for backing James Franco. As we previously reported, the industry vet shocked many when she applauded The Disaster Artist's response to recent sexual misconduct allegations. In a chat with BBC's HARDtalk, Miz Judd dubbed Franco's statement as "terrific." Related: Jamie Lee Curtis Vocalizes Support For Eliza Dushku This stunned several people as Ashley has been lauded as a silence breaker for publicly sharing her unsavory experience with Harvey Weinstein. Not to mention, the 49-year-old can be credited for contributing to the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. In response to the criticism she's received for speaking in favor of the Freaks & Geeks alum, the Double Jeopardy actress has penned an insightful letter about "binary thinking" amid this revolutionary time. Ashley started off her letter by penning: "Binary, dualist thinking misleads us. It lies to us. It tells us (most often convincingly), that to be, for one thing, we must be against another. In this case, to support survivors passionately, as I do, one must blanket condemn alleged abusers." Judd went on to explain to readers that people are allowed to both condemn abuse, while also hoping for change in the alleged predators. She continued: "We can believe folks who have been assaulted; we can condemn the unacceptable behavior, and create space for abusers to make authentic changes, amends, restitution, and ultimately to become of service to the movement toward the elimination of toxic masculinity and the fulmination of gender equity." In regards to her specific comments about James, Ashley noted that she completely believes the women who've accused the A-lister. In fact, the El Lay native declared that they have her "unequivocal, fierce support, and love." She further explained that her praise came before she understood the extent of the claims brought against Franco. Judd added: "I also believe that elements of his statement are hopeful (not the entire statement), specifically his expressed desire to set right all harms done and to make restitution. Time will tell if he does these things. I like that he said them. That is what I meant when I said 'terrific.' And of course, words are meaningless without action; Only time will tell if he makes this right." Excellent point. Ashley also suggested that men won't have the ability to change if we don't give them the chance to grow. The actress turned activist noted: "...when someone is wrong, we want them to stay wrong so that we can stay right. That is the binary that precludes space for people to change and for men (not just Franco, and not only men) to take an in-depth and moral inventory of themselves. Also, to do the work to make their unacceptable behavior something both of the past and that is redeemed for something that can be of service to another human being." Well said. And for those who doubt Ashley's dedication to the cause, Judd expressed: "That is the spirit of what I meant. I understand all of that cannot be conveyed in fifteen seconds. If some folks are going to be quick to condemn me for wanting to give space and have hope for boys and men, that is their binary, dualistic thinking in action. ... I will first and foremost always be with victim-survivor-leaders, and I will also try to understand and support men who are willing to be accountable and change." What do YOU think?
