Filmmaker C.J. Hunt was at the rally getting footage for a documentary about Confederate monuments when he captured the disturbing moment he "watched a Nazi disappear." Related: 'Sad' Donald Trump Criticizes The Removal Of ‘Beautiful' Confederate Statues! In a GQ article, Hunt shares the experience (and video) of a young man marching with Vanguard America, a small white supremacist group, one whose vague name and nondescript uniform -- white polo and khakis -- allows them to pervade college campuses undetected. They're also the same group with whom homicidal driver James Fields Jr. is affiliated. But when he was confronted by a group of counter-protesters while all alone, he quickly tore off his white shirt and said: "I'm not really white power, man. I just came here for the fun. Fuck. I'm sorry." After the police order the group to disperse, Hunt asked the guy what he was doing there if he wasn't a real white supremacist. The subject said he was "barely" part of the movement because: "It's kind of a fun idea. Just being able to say, like, hey man, white power." When the camera operator asks if he'll put the uniform back on, he says: "To be quite honest, I love to be offensive. It's fun." Ugh. Or a white supremacist trying to escape consequences? Is there a difference??? Watch and decide or yourself (below)! Hunt was deeply shaken by the experience, which serves as a reminder that these people can easily slip off their uniforms and walk among us with impunity. He writes in his article: "Since I'm a person of color, my identity is not a uniform I can take off when I am feeling unsafe—when I'm stopped by police or when my white girlfriend and I travel through southern towns where Confederate flags billow from porches and pickup trucks. Like all minorities, I've grown used to the way that difference marks me—the burden of being ever ready for the moment my skin turns me into a target for angry white men determined to take back what they think the world owes them." As we previously reported, the surgeon's husband was fatally shot while he was trying to save her during the mass shooting in Las Vegas. How awful. As Heather's tragic story has touched many people, NBC's Today show had her stop by for an interview on Wednesday. During her sit down, Melton spoke with Savannah Guthrie about the massacre and shared some memories of her husband, Sonny Melton. Related: Tom Petty's Daughter Mourns His Passing An emotional Heather related to Guthrie: "I lost half my heart. It was a love that I had never experienced before. It was the kind of love that fills you up every single day. We loved being together and people felt how much we loved each other. I will carry that with me forever. I don't know that I'll ever experience that kind of love again. But the days I had with him were worth every minute. I didn't want to do this [interview] at all but I did not want the negative person to outshine the souls that were lost." Our hearts are just breaking for her. Sonny and Heather were in attendance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival as part of their one year wedding anniversary celebration. Prior to Sonny's death, in addition to being husband and wife, the twosome worked alongside each other as the late Mr. Melton was also Heather's surgical assistant. On why she decided to do the TV interview following Sonny's passing, Mrs. Melton explained: "I wanted the whole world to know how good Sonny was. My son said to me, ‘Mom — Sonny's an international hero. He was always our hero when this happened.' So this didn't just happen that one night. He knows that his mother was saved by Sonny." Apparently, when the bullets first went off, the love birds thought it was fireworks going off. When Sonny realized what was happening, he immediately wrapped his arms around his wife to protect her. She continued: "I know he saved my life. When we realized that gun shots were going off and it wasn't just fireworks like everybody thought, I said, ‘Let's get down.' And he said, ‘No we'll get trampled let's go.' And he wrapped his arms around my back. As we started to run I felt him get shot in the back and we fell to the ground. At that point there was still gunfire all around us and people were still lying on the ground and I tried to perform CPR on him on the field." Related: Celine Dion Hesitantly Returns To Las Vegas Stage Oh, what a terrible situation. As Heather is a surgeon, she realized her husband was dying as she performed CPR. The doctor recalled: "He began to bleed from his mouth and I was just screaming for somebody to help me." Help eventually came as Sonny was carried on the shoulder of a stranger to a pickup truck where he was rushed to the hospital alongside other victims. The stranger then stayed by Heather's side during the whole ordeal: "[The stranger] performed CPR on Sonny the entire way to the hospital. And they stayed with me the entire time. They stayed by my side. I don't know their names — I was in too much shock to even ask. But I'm very grateful that I wasn't left alone." Even in the darkest moments, humanity can shine through. In regards to how she is coping, Heather concluded: "Nobody teaches you how to do this. Life just happens and I don't know, I feel like at this point it's almost breath by breath. Sometimes it feels like you can't breathe and other times you just cherish the moments that you had together. But I have a very supportive family and so does he and you have to get through this, our community has to get through this." R.I.P., Sonny. A North Dakota father has publicly disowned his son after the 30-year-old took part in the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend. On Monday, Pearce Tefft penned a moving letter to his son Peter, warning that he will be ostracized from his family if he refuses to let go of his "hateful opinions." Video: Late Night On Trump's Inability To Condemn White Supremacists In a post on the Forum of Fargo website, Pearce wrote: "My son is not welcome at our family gatherings any longer. I pray my prodigal son will renounce his hateful beliefs and return home. Then and only then will I lay out the feast." Peter calls himself a pro-white activist who went to Charlottesville to protest against the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. The "Unite the Right" rally erupted into violence after "pro-white activists" clashed with counter-protesters demonstrating against the event. Peter was seen in news footage at the event and, days later, promoted his cause on CBS Minnesota, whining about how "white people deserve civil rights." Related: Jennifer Lawrence Encourages Unmasking White Supremacists! He also flipped the term "white supremacy" on its head, explaining: "As far as the term white supremacist goes, in my view, anybody that thinks white people don't need advocacy, they are the white supremacists." Uh... wut? Like most, Peter's family does Na-zi the ways of his bizarre logic. His nephew Jacob Scott has described the pro-white activist as a "crazy Nazi," telling the Forum: "He scares us all. We don't feel safe around him, and we don't know how he came to be this way… We reject him wholly — both him as a vile person who has himself made violent threats against our family, and also his hideous ideology, which we abhor." Pearce echoed the family's sentiments, making it clear his son's "twisted worldview" was not learned at home. In response to the multiple threats the family received, Peter's father added: "His hateful opinions are bringing hateful rhetoric to his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his parents. Why must we be guilty by association? Again, none of his beliefs were learned at home. We do not, never have, and never will, accept his twisted worldview." Yikes. How did we get here, again? POTUS [...] When it comes to violent rallies that result in the death of an anti-white supremacy activist, Donald Trump likes to blame "both sides." But when he's talking about the giant divide of the country he runs, the president knows only one entity is at fault: the crooked media! Video: Trump Supporters Are Creepin' In AHS: Cult Trailer! POTUS launched a new attack on the "sick people" in the media at a campaign-style rally on Tuesday night, labeling it as "the source of the division in our country." He told a pumped up crowd in Phoenix, Arizona: "These are sick people. If you wanted to discover the source of the division in our country, look no further than the fake news and the crooked media." The rant came as Trump defended his response to the deadly Charlottesville rally earlier this month, which began in protest of the planned removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. Related: Wife Of U.S. Treasury Secretary Ices IG Haters! Unsurprisingly -- and kind of impressively, tbh -- the president divided his supporters further from the other side in the same breath he blamed the media for the social and political divide, hissing: "It's time to expose the crooked media deceptions and to challenge the media for their role in fomenting divisions and yes, by the way, they are trying to take away our history and our heritage." Trump then spoke on how the media reacted to his responses to Charlottesville. After reading a version of his initial statement that left out the part that faulted "many sides" for the violence, he said: "They don't report the facts. Just like they don't want to report that I spoke out forcefully against hatred, bigotry and violence and strongly condemned the neo-nazis, the white supremacists and the KKK. I openly called for unity, healing and love and they know it because they were all there." To his credit, he did condemn the white supremacist groups -- after commenting that some "very fine people" were among the neo-Nazis and KKK protesting the removal of the Confederate leader. Related: Trump Supporters Cancel 37 Rallies Across The Country! The president faced criticism from the media and political leaders -- both Democrats and Republicans -- over his initial response to the violence. But in Trump's eyes, it was only his third statement on the incident that mattered. He complained: "I hit 'em with neo-Nazi. I hit 'em with everything. I got the white supremacist, the neo-Nazi. I got 'em all in there. Let's see. KKK? We have KKK. I got 'em all. So they're having a hard time. So what did they say, right? 'It should have been sooner; he's a racist.'" The crowd at the Phoenix Convention Center seemed to agree, as some were reported to yell out profanities and spit out insults at reporters during the rally. We don't know if it's coincidental, but the mention of a piece of American history of which Trump supporters have already shown their ignorance is some classy shade. Or maybe just sincere patriotism? Related: Obama's Response To The Charlottesville Rally Is Now The Most Liked Tweet Ever Damn, when someone just being patriotic seems to be shaming the POTUS, you know we're screwed. And the Bushes weren't the only Republicans who released statements that seemed to exist to shame Trump's declaration that there were "very fine people on both sides." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote on Wednesday: "The white supremacist, KKK, and neo-nazi groups who brought hatred and violence to Charlottesville are now planning a rally in Lexington. Their messages of hate and bigotry are not welcome in Kentucky and should not be welcome anywhere in America. We can have no tolerance for an ideology of racial hatred. There are no good neo-nazis, and those who espouse their views are not supporters of American ideals and freedoms. We all have a responsibility to stand against hate and violence, wherever it raises its evil head." Again, no mention of Trump by name, but come on. No need. [Image via NBC/Twitter.].....»»

Donald Trump VS The NFL — Everything You Need To Know!

What could the President of the United States of America possibly have to gain by fighting with the NFL?? Well, when you're talking about Donald Trump, there actually are a couple good reasons. (And by "good" we mean horrific.) Let's rewind. Related: Like John Oliver Did Last Night For Megyn Kelly — OUCH! Well, when you're talking about Donald Trump, there actually are a couple good reasons. (And by "good" we mean horrific.) Let's rewind. Related: Like John Oliver Did Last Night For Megyn Kelly -- OUCH! On Friday night, Trump was holding a rally in Alabama -- yes, our sitting president who has been in office less than a year regularly holds campaign-style rallies to inflate his ego -- in which he made some inflammatory remarks about protesting football players. In short, he said NFL owners should fire the players who kneel during the National Anthem. And he said it in the crudest way: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He's fired. He's fired!'" Yep. Our president used an expletive in a public speech attacking private citizens who are peacefully protesting. Though he didn't mention Colin Kaepernick by name, he is at the vanguard of this controversy. So his mom responded to the "son of a bitch" comment with an AMAZING quip: Guess that makes me a proud bitch! — Teresa Kaepernick (@B4IleaveU) September 23, 2017 It should be noted in that same speech he also rattled off the opinion that penalties for hitting too hard, installed to protect players from concussions, are "ruining the game." Shortly after this, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was so offended by this (and presumably everything that came before) he decided not to attend the traditional visit by the NBA champs to the White House. In response, Trump officially, publicly disinvited him. CLICK HERE FOR MORE! Guy. Everyone knows you can't un-invite someone after they said they weren't coming! It turns you from a loser into an ANGRY loser. Even middle school student body presidents wouldn't make that mistake. Damn. Or as LeBron James put it: U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up! — LeBron James (@KingJames) September 23, 2017 Ha! But Trump had moved on from a feud with a specific player. He decided he wanted to take on the entire NFL. On Saturday, Drumpf doubled down: If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL,or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect.... — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017 ...our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017 If you haven't seen it, longtime sports journalist Bob Costas gave an epic response to this argument, pointing out that peaceful protest and dissent are some of the most patriotic things you can do in a free country. CLICK HERE FOR MORE After NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Trump's comments showed an "unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players," Trump responded: Roger Goodell of NFL just put out a statement trying to justify the total disrespect certain players show to our country.Tell them to stand! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017 On Sunday, he actually encouraged his followers to boycott watching the games: If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2017 This is clearly on very shaky ground ethically -- the POTUS directing people to boycott a private American business -- and he's already had a complaint filed against him with the Office of Government Ethics. Oh, and if you're like us and know to look for the tweet from Barack Obama's presidency that proves Trump is being a total hypocrite about this, look no further: President should not be telling the Washington Redskins to change their name-our country has far bigger problems! FOCUS on them, not nonsense — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 8, 2013 Every time. So on Sunday when it came time for football players to stand for the National Anthem, all eyes were on their reactions, which... varied. At latest count more than 200 players league-wide didn't stand for the anthem. Trump's friend Tom Brady doesn't have his back. The Pittsburg Steelers didn't show up on the field at all! CLICK HERE FOR MORE Trump was so unhappy about all this he may even have snuck a lewd gesture onto live TV. You can decide that one for yourself. Trump was undeterred. Obviously. But on Monday morning, he did tweet a clarification, as once again he didn't like being called out as a racist: The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 25, 2017 Except it DOES have to do with race. You can't say the intent of these players has nothing to do with race when they're flat-out saying it's about race. It's about injustice along racial lines, specifically when it comes to police brutality. Police keep getting away with killing unarmed black citizens. But the surge in players kneeling this Sunday was in unity AGAINST Trump's awful comments attacking players and their freedom of speech. We know because THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT IT! And they aren't alone. Many celebrities have come out in support of the protesting. CLICK HERE FOR MORE So with all of this support on the other side, for the NFL, for freedom of speech, for African Americans looking for justice, why would Trump take the position he's taking? Two reasons: 1. His Base We already know by Trump's inability to condemn the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, equating the white supremacists with those counter-protesting, that Trump is unwilling to go against his base. Let's be honest here. Trump ran on a platform of hate. He painted Mexicans as criminals as he threw his hat in the ring. He regularly fans the flames of Islamophobia. His wall, aside from being completely idiotic, is as xenophobic a policy as we've ever heard. The first time he even dipped his toe into the political world was to declare Obama wasn't really an American. So his core supporters, the ones he's courted from the beginning, are racists. And he can't lose them. They're all he has left. Besides the cowardly Republican party that let him hijack them we mean. 2. Ego Trump KNOWS so much of this is about him. He's the one who is embarrassing and demeaning our country, he's the one making us all look bad, he's the one emboldening Nazis. It's 2017, and we have a Nazi problem! Let that soak in. He's making every problem with our country worse. So as the leader of the United States, he takes it as a personal slight when players kneel during its anthem, when they don't stand for the flag. And we know how he reacts to criticism. And he's petty enough to start a war with an organization like the NFL over it. So there you go. [Image via Instagram.].....»»

Donald Trump Attacks Black Pharma CEO Who Resigned Over His Lame Response To White Nationalist Rally

Donald Trump didn't have a whole lot to say about the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend. Unsurprisingly, the president's initial non-response — a vague tweet condemning "hate" instead of denouncing white nationalism — caused a whole lot of backlash, which POTUS continued to stay silent for. Unsurprisingly, the president's initial non-response -- a vague tweet condemning "hate" instead of denouncing white nationalism -- caused a whole lot of backlash, which POTUS continued to stay silent for. That is, until Big Pharma mogul Ken Frazier publicly resigned from the American Manufacturing Council -- and you better believe that got Trump talking! Related: Too Little, Too Late, Ivanka Trump On Monday, the Merck CEO released a statement announcing his resignation to take "a stand against intolerance and extremism." But before the president got to denouncing the neo-Nazis and the KKK rallying in the name of white supremacy, he jumped at the opportunity to lash out at Frazier, who is black, with a boardroom-style dig, writing: Now that Ken Frazier of Merck Pharma has resigned from President's Manufacturing Council,he will have more time to LOWER RIPOFF DRUG PRICES! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 14, 2017 Frazier is the latest executive to step down from one of the president's advisory councils. In June, it was reported that Elon Musk and Disney's Robert Igor resigned from Trump's Strategic and Policy Forum after he pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord.
