Ashley Judd Condemns "Binary Thinking" Following Unexpected James Franco Praise

As we previously reported, the industry vet shocked many when she applauded The Disaster Artist's response to recent sexual misconduct allegations. In a chat with BBC's HARDtalk, Miz Judd dubbed Franco's statement as "terrific." Related: Jamie Lee Curtis Vocalizes Support For Eliza Dushku This stunned several people as Ashley has been lauded as a silence breaker for publicly sharing her unsavory experience with Harvey Weinstein. Not to mention, the 49-year-old can be credited for contributing to the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. In response to the criticism she's received for speaking in favor of the Freaks & Geeks alum, the Double Jeopardy actress has penned an insightful letter about "binary thinking" amid this revolutionary time. Ashley started off her letter by penning: "Binary, dualist thinking misleads us. It lies to us. It tells us (most often convincingly), that to be, for one thing, we must be against another. In this case, to support survivors passionately, as I do, one must blanket condemn alleged abusers." Judd went on to explain to readers that people are allowed to both condemn abuse, while also hoping for change in the alleged predators. She continued: "We can believe folks who have been assaulted; we can condemn the unacceptable behavior, and create space for abusers to make authentic changes, amends, restitution, and ultimately to become of service to the movement toward the elimination of toxic masculinity and the fulmination of gender equity." In regards to her specific comments about James, Ashley noted that she completely believes the women who've accused the A-lister. In fact, the El Lay native declared that they have her "unequivocal, fierce support, and love." She further explained that her praise came before she understood the extent of the claims brought against Franco. Judd added: "I also believe that elements of his statement are hopeful (not the entire statement), specifically his expressed desire to set right all harms done and to make restitution. Time will tell if he does these things. I like that he said them. That is what I meant when I said 'terrific.' And of course, words are meaningless without action; Only time will tell if he makes this right." Excellent point. Ashley also suggested that men won't have the ability to change if we don't give them the chance to grow. The actress turned activist noted: "...when someone is wrong, we want them to stay wrong so that we can stay right. That is the binary that precludes space for people to change and for men (not just Franco, and not only men) to take an in-depth and moral inventory of themselves. Also, to do the work to make their unacceptable behavior something both of the past and that is redeemed for something that can be of service to another human being." Well said. And for those who doubt Ashley's dedication to the cause, Judd expressed: "That is the spirit of what I meant. I understand all of that cannot be conveyed in fifteen seconds. If some folks are going to be quick to condemn me for wanting to give space and have hope for boys and men, that is their binary, dualistic thinking in action. ... I will first and foremost always be with victim-survivor-leaders, and I will also try to understand and support men who are willing to be accountable and change." What do YOU think? Jason Kennedy"s Wife SLAMS Catt Sadler Over E! Pay Drama!

Shots. Fired. As we reported, Catt Sadler shocked fans when she announced she was leaving E! after learning cohost Jason Kennedy "was making double my salary and has been for several years." As we reported, Catt Sadler shocked fans when she announced she was leaving E! after learning cohost Jason Kennedy "was making double my salary and has been for several years." To add insult to injury, during negotiations, the network reportedly refused to give her equal pay. Sadly, not everyone is #TeamCatt in this drama. Related: Jennifer Lawrence & Jessica Chastain Support Catt Sadler! On Thursday, Kennedy's wife Lauren Scruggs wrote a lengthy post on Instagram defending her husband and the network against claims of sexism. The model reveals: "I believe in female empowerment and gender equality, but it's heartbreaking that a network is being deemed sexist when that is simply not true. At one time my husband had a female co-anchor on E! News who made 3 times his salary. Women are paid accordingly on this network, and the difference in his salary versus hers did not affect Jason. He knows there are always more components to consider when determining one's salary than gender alone." The fashion blogger then references an E! spokeswoman who told the New York Times that Sadler and Kennedy's roles were not comparable. According to Scruggs, Kennedy has been the permanent anchor of E! News for the past two years, while "a permanent co-host has never been named since the last one left 6 months ago." Even if there was an issue with "gender inequality," Scruggs says her husband would absolutely not stand for it. "If he ever heard that gender inequality was occurring at his workplace, he would take action. Instead, it's the contrary, and the numerous phone calls we have had these past two days from both current and former female employees at E! only support what he has seen in his time there. These women have assured us that they never felt gender inequality was at play at any time." Ultimately, the fashion journalist wants to clear Kennedy's name amid the mudslinging. "Jason is the most tender-hearted & respectful person and it's so sad to see him unfairly publicly shamed. His name has been dragged through the mud regarding nothing he did, except be a great friend & colleague. It absolutely breaks my heart to watch, & it is devastating & frustrating to see how this all played out. I will always stand on truth, & I cannot stand by and be silent when the foundation of a story that affects my family is not based on that. I am so proud of & inspired by my husband for constantly being prayerful, surrounding himself w/ wisdom, & being the definition of a class act even in unfortunate circumstances." It's important to note that Sadler has only said nice things about Kennedy, and even told her followers to stop "vilifying him" in a recent Instagram post. She wrote: "If I had one ask, it is to please not place blame on my friend Jason Kennedy. He has done right by me in every respect. It hurts me deeply to see that some are vilifying him. I repeat, his hands are tied on this matter and if you're angry - rightfully so - direct that emotion at the decision makers who failed us, not him." Read Lauren's full rant (below): I have always said that there are negatives and positives to social media, and these last 48 hours have proven that to be true. Stella McCartney Wants MeToo To Happen In Fashion

Hollywood isn’t the only place where the oppressors are hands on with the harassment, according to Stella McCartney the world of fashion is ripe and ready for a purge. If MeToo occurred in the fashion industry I’m pretty sure it would cause more confusion than actually righting any alleged wrong. Fashion is a female dominated scene and the minority of men that include themselves aren’t exactly into what’s in-between a woman’s legs. There’s no way any heterosexual man is reaching the heights of success in fashion like Tom Ford. That fact alone eliminates any suggestion that a case of the MeToos are occurring anywhere near a runway. Stella McCartney: “It’s about time the fashion industry spoke up a little more,” said McCartney during an interview Tuesday at a Los Angeles concert event showcasing her autumn collection. “We are nearly 80 percent women in the company, but I also like men. So I’m a big believer in equality,” Fashion doesn’t take anything seriously and if MeToo were to catch on it would turn sexual harassment victimhood into a high fashion trend. Time would be up for Time’s Up before any brand could debut their 2018 spring/summer collections. Distressed denim inspired by a struggle to get away from sexual assault doesn’t sound good on paper or in practice. The entire movement appears to be suffering from a misunderstanding of the meaning me too. It doesn’t mean find clever ways to include yourself in something as serious as sexual misconduct just because you secretly hate men. Ryan Seacrest Says All Sexual Misconduct Allegations Should Get "Fair Review" After Being "Wrongly Accused"

Ryan Seacrest reflects on a "gut-wrenching" period of his life… Back in November 2017, a former E! stylist accused the TV personality of alleged misconduct that took place over a decade ago. Back in November 2017, a former E! stylist accused the TV personality of alleged misconduct that took place over a decade ago. Earlier this month, the network's investigation "found insufficient evidence to support the claims against Seacrest and therefore could not be substantiated." Related: Kelly Ripa & Ryan Seacrest Go ALL OUT For Halloween! On Monday night, the Live with Kelly and Ryan cohost wrote a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter titled "What Happened After I Was Wrongly Accused of Harassment" where he opens up about the controversy. While radio DJ knew there "was no merit to the allegations," he says he was concerned with how the scandal would affect his longstanding career and reputation. He reveals: "To have my workplace conduct questioned was gut-wrenching. I've always aimed to treat all of my colleagues with honesty, respect, kindness and compassion. Yet, I knew, regardless of the confidence I had that there was no merit to the allegations, my name would likely soon appear on the lists of those suspected of despicable words and deeds. The pressures of our overflowing newsfeeds would insist on it." Though he supports the women who "sought to bring attention to the systemic gender inequality that has occurred for decades," he believes every accusation must be given "a swift and fair review." "Most of us agree that the presumption of innocence is an important standard. We are taught early on that it's essential to see all sides, to give everyone a chance to explain and to check for exculpatory evidence that may have been missed. At a time when improper interactions between men and women, particularly in the workplace, are part of a national conversation, we must find a way to ensure that everyone — the public, private and public institutions, accusers and alleged accused — is given the opportunity for a swift and fair review." Despite what he's been through, Seacrest wants "to be part of the change, the progress, that is coming." The American Idol star adds: "We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our gender, race, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or other status. We find ourselves in extraordinary times in American culture. We live with near constant change, disruption and public discourse. I realize the morals and values, the decency, we've perhaps taken for granted, individually and as citizens of the world, are in question. Worse, at risk. I do not take these things for granted." Read the full letter (below): "I do not take things for granted. Every day I am living my childhood dream because of the efforts of so many other people. I do my best to show and express my gratitude to my co-hosts, producers, guests, audiences, executives, partners and fans for the privilege of their collaboration and participation, and for the unwavering support of my loved ones and team. In November, I received a letter from a lawyer representing a former show stylist. She claimed that I mistreated her more than a decade ago when we worked together. This arrived during an unprecedented public reckoning by women in our industry and beyond, courageously coming forward to share their stories, many of them heartbreaking. These women sought to bring attention to the systemic gender inequality that has occurred for decades. I was — and am — amazed at their bravery. To have my workplace conduct questioned was gut-wrenching. I've always aimed to treat all of my colleagues with honesty, respect, kindness and compassion. Yet, I knew, regardless of the confidence I had that there was no merit to the allegations, my name would likely soon appear on the lists of those suspected of despicable words and deeds. The pressures of our overflowing newsfeeds would insist on it. I absolutely want to be part of the change, the progress, that is coming. I did not want to be a postscript of evidence of its cause. After sharing the letter with the network, I publicly denied the claims against me, and agreed to participate in any inquiry the network deemed appropriate. On Feb. 1, I received notice that an independent third party found the claims to be unsubstantiated and that there was no evidence of wrongdoing on my part. Most of us agree that the presumption of innocence is an important standard. We are taught early on that it's essential to see all sides, to give everyone a chance to explain and to check for exculpatory evidence that may have been missed. At a time when improper interactions between men and women, particularly in the workplace, are part of a national conversation, we must find a way to ensure that everyone — the public, private and public institutions, accusers and alleged accused — is given the opportunity for a swift and fair review. My job is to listen. Beyond listening, which I will continue in earnest, I also will ask questions and try to help voices be heard. It isn't lost on me that my platforms — radio, TV, social media — can be powerful conduits for change. We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our gender, race, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or other status. We find ourselves in extraordinary times in American culture. We live with near constant change, disruption and public discourse. I realize the morals and values, the decency, we've perhaps taken for granted, individually and as citizens of the world, are in question. Worse, at risk. I do not take these things for granted." Ahead of The Thrill Of It All's November 3 release, the singer sat down for an honest interview with The Sunday Times to discuss sexuality, gender, and his new music! Related: Sam & Brandon Flynn Enjoyed A Broadway Show For Date Night Talking about coming out publicly in 2014 with the release of his first album, the 25-year-old confessed: "Looking back on it, it was the fear of saying the wrong thing and offending. And I was 19 when I started writing the first album. I'd just moved to London from a village—I was literally the only gay in the village. I didn't know what I wanted to say." Now, it sounds like Sam has become more comfortable with his identity. When asked if he feels like a cisgender male, he replied: "No. I mean, I've got these tattoos on my fingers. I don't know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man." The tattoos the Brit is referring to are of the male and female gender symbols. Smith also talked about his love for dressing up in drag, saying he checks out Australia's House Of Priscilla when he can: "Oh my god, I just buy everything – heels, dresses. We have a great time." He continued about his gender-fluid identity: "I love a heel. I've got loads of heels at home... People don't know this, but when I was 17, I remember becoming obsessed with Boy George and Marilyn. There was one moment in my life when I didn't own a piece of male clothing, really. I would wear full make up every day at school – eyelashes, leggings with Dr Martens and huge fur coats, for two and a half years." The star added he was bullied for it in school: "I got teased a lot for it. But there were also people respecting me for walking around like that in my school." We love that he owned it!! Also in his candid interview, the Oscar winner talked about how his new music is showing how much he's grown: "I think they show my growth, my confidence. I feel like they show me. They show the gay guy I've become." Beautiful! While he remained relatively out of the spotlight before releasing his new tracks, Sam explained he was "going out too much" the last year: "Last year...I'd say the entire year, I went out too much, I started drinking way too much and I started smoking cigarettes, stupidly. And I lost a little bit of control towards the end. I haven't drunk now in 2.5 months. I will drink again—it wasn't 'A Drinking Problem.'" Although, he's definitely aware of his "addictive personality." There's just so much to learn about him! [Image via Lia Toby/WENN.].....»»

As we reported way back in April 2017, the Olympian wrote in her memoir The Secrets of My Life she underwent gender reassignment surgery back in January of that year. On Thursday, in a clip from Piers Morgan's show Life Stories obtained by DailyMail.com, the transgender icon confirms reports she did not tell Kris Jenner and co. about the procedure before writing about it in her book. Additionally, the Olympian reveals she sent Kim Kardashian West a copy of the book "except for the last few pages when I talked about gender confirmation." Related: Caitlyn Jenner Confronts Piers Morgan Over 'Disrespectful' Question! When the British host asks, "They didn't know that you had actually had the surgery?" Jenner replies: "No, I didn't tell anybody. Why? It's none of their business." Additionally, the 68-year-old does not believe the family is "entitled to know before the world" as the surgery was "not that big a deal." "No, it's not that big a deal... Nobody knows... I had to be honest, the book is about honesty. It's called The Secrets of My Life... No, it really wasn't a big deal... I had already been living as Caitlyn for a year and a half, ok, nobody knows anything." Later in the clip, the star of the late I Am Cait admits she didn't want members of the family "to leak it to the press," as she "didn't trust them." "Because I didn't want them to leak it to the press. Ok. And there was no reason for them to know about it... Of course not - of course I didn't trust them, yeah." As seen on KUWTK, the book has been a source of contention between Caitlyn and rest of the family. In a June episode, Kim said: "If you turn on my mom and you continue to bash us, I can't — even for the sake of my sisters — spend time with someone who doesn't care about my mother. Like enough already … My mom has been so fair to Cait and Cait has no decency towards her whatsoever. I don't think my mom has to try anymore. It's time to move on." And Kendall Jenner recently confessed to her mom that she and her siblings "kept a lot of" Caitlyn's gender identity issues away from her. Oof. There was one moment in my life where I didn’t own a piece of male clothing, really. I would wear full make-up every day in school, eyelashes, leggings with Dr Martens and huge fur coats, for 2.5 years,” Sam explained. When asked if he felt as though he felt like a cisgender man, he showed his finger tattoos to the writer – two Venus symbols – and said no. “I mean, I’ve got these tattoos on my fingers…I don’t know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man.” Sam‘s new album, The Thrill of It All, drops on November 3......»»

Donald Trump Puppet Jeff Sessions Calls For LESS Protection Against Transgender Discrimination

Guess Caitlyn Jenner's GOP influence didn't help that much after all… If you thought from a few offhand comments during the election that Donald Trump would at least be forward-thinking when it came to transgender discrimination, we're pretty sure he blew that out of the water with his ludicrous announcement of a military ban. If you thought from a few offhand comments during the election that Donald Trump would at least be forward-thinking when it came to transgender discrimination, we're pretty sure he blew that out of the water with his ludicrous announcement of a military ban. Related: Trump Tells Puerto Rico: 'You've Thrown Our Budget A Little Out Of Whack' But it isn't going to stop there. Buzzfeed News obtained a memo by Trump's Attorney General Jeff Sessions to his Justice Department staff basically reversing Barack Obama era discrimination protection. He wrote: "Title VII's prohibition on sex discrimination encompasses discrimination between men and women but does not encompass discrimination based on gender identity per se, including transgender status." WHAT?? He elaborated: "Although federal law, including Title VII, provides various protections to transgender individuals, Title VII does not prohibit discrimination based on gender identity per se. This is a conclusion of law, not policy. As a law enforcement agency, the Department of Justice must interpret Title VII as written by Congress." So you can't be fired because of what it says on your birth certificate, but you CAN be fired because of your actual gender identity?? That's going to be legal now?! HOW IS THIS MAN IN CHARGE OF INTERPRETING LAW?! Related: Sessions Once Said Grabbing Women By The Pussy Wasn't Necessarily Sexual Assault Notice he says it's not about policy, but make no mistake -- this is a directive to his DOJ to allow MORE discrimination. Sessions can feign adherence to the wording of the law all he wants, but that's total B.S. Just look at what Eric Holder, AG under Obama, wrote about the EXACT SAME LAW in a 2014 memo: "I have determined that the best reading of Title VII's prohibition of sex discrimination is that it encompasses discrimination based on gender identity, including transgender status. The most straightforward reading of Title VII is that discrimination ‘because of ... sex' includes discrimination because an employee's gender identification is as a member of a particular sex, or because the employee is transitioning, or has transitioned, to another sex." So don't act like your hands are tied, you racist puppet. Just send a memo saying you and your Nazi sympathizing boss hate anyone you don't understand and be done with it. It’s that time of year again where Liam Neeson needs you to go see the same movie that he always stars in just with a different name. It’s called The Commuter this time. You know what’s going to happen before you even buy the tickets. Liam’s got a gun and some fancy mma moves, kicking ass first and taking names later. This time in an effort to look like a great guy and obviously fill some more seats he’s decided to kick gender wage pay gap’s behind. Liam: “There’s a lot of discussion about it, and a lot of healthy and necessary discussion about it because the disparity sometimes is f–ing disgraceful,” he said. He didn’t know who the men were, he didn’t know what they wanted, but now that Liam is aware women are being paid less for the same work his set of special skills will save every underpaid actress. Or at least be sufficient enough to save his new movie from being a bust. If men in Hollywood start taking a pay cut there will be way more elite couples going dutch at Wolfgang Puck establishments. Procreation of the higher ups may even come to a halt when women have to decide between taking her potential A-list husband that makes less than her out for dinner or the new coat made from imported African ostrich at Miu Miu. Female celebrities sort of have a long track record when it comes to impulsive unnecessary purchases. Men with lots of money get married or spend a majority of their funds on hookers and cocaine. Sometimes both. Either way most of the extra money made by males in the industry always flows back into the hands of a woman.
