Fantastic Beasts Director Defends Johnny Depp — Do YOU Think They Should Keep Him In The Franchise??

Director David Yates is standing by his decision to keep Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. However, amid Johnny's initial participation in the Harry Potter spin off, he was hit [...] Director David Yates is standing by his decision to keep Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. In case you missed it, at the end of 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Colin Farrell's character transformed into a Depp-portrayed Gellert Grindelwald. However, amid Johnny's initial participation in the Harry Potter spin off, he was hit with troubling claims of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Related: Lady Bird Just Got The Best Rotten Tomatoes Score In History Thus, when it was re-confirmed this month that Johnny would remain on the cast list for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, there was quite the outcry on social media. In response to the backlash, Yates explained to Entertainment Weekly: "Honestly, there's an issue at the moment where there's a lot of people being accused of things, they're being accused by multiple victims, and it's compelling and frightening. With Johnny, it seems to me there was one person who took a pop at him and claimed something. I can only tell you about the man I see every day: He's full of decency and kindness, and that's all I see. Whatever accusation was out there doesn't tally with the kind of human being I've been working with." Huh. The seasoned filmmaker went on to note that many of the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor's past loves -- including Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis, and Lori Anne Allison -- have also defended his character. He continued: "By testament, some of the women in [Depp's] life have said the same thing — ‘that's not the human being we know.' It's very different [than cases] where there are multiple accusers over many years that need to be examined and we need to reflect on our industry that allows that to roll on year in and year out. Johnny isn't in that category in any shape or form. So to me, it doesn't bear any more analysis. It's a dead issue." It probably doesn't help that the Fantastic Beasts sequel is already in the middle of production. We're sure reshoots would be a HUGE headache. Regardless, we'd like to know what YOU think about this casting controversy. Be sure to weigh in on the issue (below)... [Image via Warner Bros./Jeff Spicer/Future Image/WENN.].....»»

Amber Heard Puts Warner Bros. On Blast For Their Defense Of Casting Johnny Depp In The Fantastic Beasts Sequel!

In case you missed it, at the end of 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Colin Farrell's character transformed into a Depp-portrayed Gellert Grindelwald. However, amid Johnny's initial participation in the Harry Potter spin off, the A-lister was hit with troubling claims of domestic abuse by his ex-wife. Despite the scandal, the 54-year-old kept his role in the Fantastic Beasts follow up. Both screenwriter J.K. Rowling and director David Yates have come to Depp's defense following the backlash. Warner Bros. also stood by the industry vet as they released a statement where they highlighted certain parts from Heard and Depp's joint words on their divorce. Specifically, the studio shared the line where the former flames stated "there was never any intent of physical or emotional harm." This, understandably, rubbed Amber the wrong way as she felt it was manipulative to quote her statement with Johnny out of context. The 31-year-old addressed her issue with Warner Bros. on Twitter as she posted: For the record, this was our FULL joint statement. To pick&choose certain lines & quote them out of context, is not right.Women, stay strong. pic.twitter.com/W7Tt6A3ROj — Amber Heard (@realamberheard) December 8, 2017 Warner Bros.' decision to stand by the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor must've stung Heard as she's a part of the WB family too. J.K. Rowling Defends Johnny Depp Casting in "Fantastic Beasts"

Now, the author of the “Harry Potter” books and the screenwriter for the movie, J.K. Rowling, is defending the choice to keep him on board. If you don’t know, Johnny was accused of domestic violence by his ex wife Amber Heard. Johnny and Amber later settled their divorce in court. Click inside to see the full statement made by JK Rowling…. FULL STATEMENT FROM JK ROWLING “When Johnny Depp was cast as Grindelwald, I thought he’d be wonderful in the role. However, around the time of filming his cameo in the first movie, stories had appeared in the press that deeply concerned me and everyone most closely involved in the franchise,” she wrote on her website. Harry Potter fans had legitimate questions and concerns about our choice to continue with Johnny Depp in the role. As David Yates, long-time Potter director, has already said, we naturally considered the possibility of recasting. I understand why some have been confused and angry about why that didn’t happen. The huge, mutually supportive community that has grown up around Harry Potter is one of the greatest joys of my life. For me personally, the inability to speak openly to fans about this issue has been difficult, frustrating and at times painful. However, the agreements that have been put in place to protect the privacy of two people, both of whom have expressed a desire to get on with their lives, must be respected. Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies. I’ve loved writing the first two screenplays and I can’t wait for fans to see ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’. I accept that there will be those who are not satisfied with our choice of actor in the title role. However, conscience isn’t governable by committee. Within the fictional world and outside it, we all have to do what we believe to be the right thing.”.....»»

I mean day. I mean year. I mean face. Depp is in deep after allegedly punching a location manager, Gregg Brooks, working on Depp’s flick City of Lies – about the murder of Biggie Smalls – in 2017. Brooks is suing Depp’s ass for punching him after Brooks informed Depp on-set that he would only have one more opportunity to shoot his scene due to time constraints. TMZ reports that Depp initially became irate, screaming “Who the f*** are you? You have no right to tell me what to do.” When Brooks said he was going to get the LAPD involved, Depp punched him, and then when Brooks didn’t react, Depp allegedly stated “I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now.” Punch, Brooks smartly did not, and now he’s looking to cash in on the encounter with a lawsuit. He claims that he could smell alcohol on Depp’s breath, which I assumed would be a given for any encounter with Depp at any time of day over the past three decades. In a note that’s related only in that it’s another signifier that Depp is probably going to die any day now, he just inked over his second iteration of a tattoo that was originally inspired by Amber Heard. The cool letters tattooed across the one-hundred-year-old’s knuckles originally spelled out SLIM – Depp’s nickname for ex Heard. He then changed the tat to SCUM, and now, like any badass sk8er boi in the mid-2000’s, he’s changed it to SCAM using the anarchist symbol. Remember, he’s one-hundred-years-old and still pulling this shit. Hopefully his next iteration of the tattoo will spell out DNR.   Photo Credit: Instagram The post Johnny Depp Sued For Punching Man, Just Got Shitty Tattoo, Overall Doing Well appeared first on WWTDD - What Would Tyler Durden Do?......»»

First we were shocked to hear the accusations of domestic abuse from Amber Heard. Then his former manager claimed in court documents he was spending a literal fortune on wine. Now from the film set of his latest film, we have an accusation that seems to involve aspects of both: an insider on the set of Depp's new film tells Page Six he assaulted a crew member after drinking all day. Related: Depp Dumped Immediately By New Lawyers — Oof, Not A Good Look! LAbyrinth, a film about the Biggie Smalls murder investigation, had shut down a street in downtown El Lay for filming -- a very costly process -- when Depp allegedly "took over directing" and the set became "toxic." The insider claims: "Johnny's friends were in the scene, and it just turned into way more than it should have been." Apparently the star had cast two friends as a cop and a homeless man (Depp is playing real-life detective Russell Poole) and wanted to keep rolling well past when the filming permit had lapsed. After time could no longer be extended, the insider says a location manager told director Brad Furman they absolutely had to shut down: "Brad interjected, ‘Tell that to Johnny Depp!'" The location manager did just that, confronting the star who had allegedly been "smoking and drinking all day on set" and telling him: "This is the last shot." That's when the insider says Depp got right in the crew member's face, yelling: "Who are you? You have no right!" When he responded he was just doing his job, Johnny reportedly took a swing at him. Related: Amber Heard Donates Over $1 Million From Divorce Settlement To Children's Hospital According to the insider, he either didn't make contact or did but very gently. So it's unclear if he meant to hit him for real. The source does say Johnny yelled: "I'll give you $100,000 to punch me right now!" The crew member apparently just stood there -- what else could he do? -- until Depp was pulled away. Furman released a statement defending his star, saying: "Johnny Depp is a consummate professional, great collaborator and a supporter of other artists. He always treats the crew and people around him with the utmost respect. Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated. We all love stories — there isn't one here." Right. Fistfights and day drinking. Totally normal work stuff. What do YOU think of this latest Johnny Depp story?? [Image via Kento Nara/Future Image/WENN.].....»»

Depp first states that the folks at Rolling Stone threw him under the bus, before taking matters into his own hands and throwing himself under the bus throughout the GQ interview. When denying that he ever physically assaulted Amber Heard, Depp refers to her as “that person.” Possibly intended as a dis, but comes off more as something a crazy person says: To harm someone you love? As a kind of bully? No, it didn’t, it couldn’t even sound like me. Why didn’t that person speak to the police [before Heard appeared in court with bruises on her face]? I mean, they spoke to the police, but the police saw nothing and they offered her an emergency medical technician. She said no. Police see nothing on her. Police see nothing broken in the place, no marks, and then they offer her an EMT to have a look at her and she says no and I don’t know if it was the next day or a couple of days later, but then there was a bruise. There was a red mark and then there was a brown bruise. Depp also claims that the viral video – which includes the choice quote “You want to see crazy? I’ll give you fucking crazy” – of him going into a blind rage in front of an alarmed Heard was distributed out of context. He was upset because he just found out he lost like a billion dollars: She wanted to make like it was recent. It was an older video and had to do with finding out that I had lost hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars. In addressing the paparazzi attention Depp and his family receive, he states: …if a paparazzo gets a shot, they’re far away and they get a shot of me and my kid, whatever, that’s their thing. But if I catch you, I will eat your nose. I will eat your nose, chew it up and swallow it in front of you and then you’ll fucking think about it next time. I fucking mean it. Overall Depp feels that Hollywood has shunned him, and that his new status as an insane (but hot) lesbian is completely unwarranted and part of a larger defamation scheme deployed his former management. In news related to not being crazy, Depp reveals to the GQ interviewer, relatively unprompted: You know what Texas Belt Buckle is? Well, a Texas Belt Buckle is where you have to pull your scrotum up over the top of your jeans without undoing them. All the way up and over. Oh, the horror of it all… You have to bring your cock back around and stick it through… Your cock has to go around the bend in a sort of semi fruit basket and then, well, then you’re fucked. You pull your testicles out over the top and leave them just resting there. That’s a Texas Belt Buckle. Then, of course, there’s a Dirty Sanchez, which is something else entirely. ‘Dirty Sanchez’, which I managed to sneak into Pirates… Honestly, the interview is full of stuff like this, so you’ll probably want to check the whole thing out. I’ll leave you with Depp’s declaration of independence that reads like a particularly pensive caption from one of Alexis Ren’s selfies: The truth will come out in all of this and I will be standing on the right side of the roaring rapids. I hope other people will be too. I know the truth and if I had to walk away from all of it today, the job, the career, all of it, and go toodle-oo, then fine. I’ll be there you sexy bitch. Thus far the filmmakers' defense of the accused domestic abuser hasn't made things much better. Related: Amber Heard Wasn't Too Happy About It Either... But Entertainment Weekly wanted to know what the Chosen One himself thought of the studio's backing of their new villain. And Daniel Radcliffe reminded everyone of another case from the Potterverse that shows a pretty big double standard, saying: "I can see why people are frustrated with the response that they were given from that... I'm not saying anything that anybody hasn't already said — and this is a weird analogy to draw — [but] in the NFL, there are lots of players arrested for smoking weed and there is other people's behavior that goes way beyond that and it's tolerated because they're very famous players. I suppose the thing I was struck by was, we did have a guy who was reprimanded for weed on the [original Potter] film, essentially, so obviously what Johnny has been accused of is much greater than that." Yep. In case you forgot, actor Jamie Waylett who played Draco Malfoy's toadie Crabbe (below, left) got busted for growing marijuana in 2009. The studio, in an effort to distance themselves from that notoriety, replaced Crabbe with Blaise Zabini (Louis Cordice) for the two Deathly Hallows films. Does seem like a big double standard for a movie star. Of course, Waylett was arrested and plead guilty -- a bit of a different situation. What do YOU think?? [Image via Warner Bros..].....»»
