Heather Heyer"s Parents Preach Forgiveness At The Charlottesville Victim"s Memorial Service: "You Just Magnified Her"

Heather Heyer may be gone, but she won't be silenced. That's one thing the mother of the 32-year-old — who was killed on Saturday when a car plowed into a crowd of counter-protesters at Charlottesville's white nationalist rally — made clear at the activist's memorial service. That's one thing the mother of the 32-year-old -- who was killed on Saturday when a car plowed into a crowd of counter-protesters at Charlottesville's white nationalist rally -- made clear at the activist's memorial service. On Wednesday, Susan Bro received a standing ovation as she assured mourners Heather's death only "magnified" her voice -- and that continuing to have dialogues is the only way to "carry Heather's spark through." Related: Obama's Response To Charlottesville Rally Is The Most Liked Tweet Ever! She told the crowd of over 1,000 people: "They tried to kill my child to shut her up -- well, guess what -- you just magnified her… I want this to spread, I don't want this to die. This is just the beginning of Heather's legacy." The memorial was held Wednesday morning at Charlottesville's Paramount Theater and attended by many including Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Sen. Tim Kaine. Bro revealed that a public memorial is what her daughter would have wanted, adding Heather "had to have the world involved [in her death], because that's my child. Always has been." The Charlottesville native encouraged attendees to make Heather's death worthwhile by continuing her fight in advocacy for equal rights. She explained: "Conversations have to happen. That's the only way we're going to carry Heather's spark through… Find what's wrong, don't ignore it, don't look the other way. Say to yourself, 'What can I do to make a difference?' And that's how you're going to make my child's death worthwhile." Heather's grandfather Elwood Shrader also spoke at the service, remembering the activist had always shown passion for fairness and justice. Shrader said his granddaughter, who worked as a paralegal, was always willing to understand someone else's viewpoint even if she didn't agree with it. Related: Nazis Applaud Trump's Defense Of White Nationalists Heather's father Mark Heyer broke down during his emotional speech. While he also spoke on her lifelong battle for equality, Mark emphasized her fight to put an end to hate, adding: "She wanted equality. And in this issue of the day of her passing, she wanted to put down hate. And for my part, we just need to stop all this stuff and just forgive each other." We can't think of anything more commendable than parents at the center of civil unrest preaching about forgiveness at their daughter's memorial. After all, hate only leads to more hate. I was watching the news like everyone else, and you’re seeing Nazi flags and torches and white supremacists, and I was sick to my stomach,” the 42-year-old host emotionally expressed. Jimmy appeared to be fighting back tears as he talked about his daughters who “don’t know what hate is,” addressing aloud that it’s important for parents, teachers and “leaders who appeal to the best in us” to help children understand. “The fact that it took the president two days to come out and clearly denounce racists and white supremacists is shameful,” Jimmy added. As for the man behind the wheel who perpetrated the terror attack, police have arrested 20-year-old James Fields Jr., who had initially sped away from the attack and gone free. The 49-year-old talk show host addressed the situation during his opening monologue on Monday night (August 14). “We went into the weekend worrying about the fact that Kim Jong-un vowed to start a war by the middle of this month,” Jimmy said. “And we come out of it wondering if our president is cutting eye holes out of his bedsheets.” “As you know, this weekend in Virginia, the worst people in the United States went to the hardware store, bought tiki torches, lit ‘em up, and marched in Charlottesville,” he continued. “A non-violent protester was killed by a white supremacist and so the president – who is the president, by the way – went on television. He started with a prepared statement, and then he had to throw in ‘on many sides.’” “Let’s not lay all the blame on the Nazis and the Klan here, there were people who marched against them,” Jimmy joked, adding, “Then for two days [Trump] had no further comment. The one thing he decides to be quiet about is this! Of course, everyone went nuts because … there were two sides – not many – and one of those sides had Nazis on it.” “All he had to do was condemn the Nazis, which shouldn’t have been difficult!” Jimmy said. “It’s not exactly a controversial stance, not like we asked him to come out against puppies.” He also shared, “Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, called the rally ‘evil’ and ‘disgusting.’ You understand what that means? That means Germany is taking a stronger stance against Nazis than we are … and they invented them.” Watch his full monologue below. Jimmy Kimmel on Donald Trump’s Charlottesville Comments.....»»

A North Dakota father has publicly disowned his son after the 30-year-old took part in the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend. On Monday, Pearce Tefft penned a moving letter to his son Peter, warning that he will be ostracized from his family if he refuses to let go of his "hateful opinions." Video: Late Night On Trump's Inability To Condemn White Supremacists In a post on the Forum of Fargo website, Pearce wrote: "My son is not welcome at our family gatherings any longer. I pray my prodigal son will renounce his hateful beliefs and return home. Then and only then will I lay out the feast." Peter calls himself a pro-white activist who went to Charlottesville to protest against the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. The "Unite the Right" rally erupted into violence after "pro-white activists" clashed with counter-protesters demonstrating against the event. Peter was seen in news footage at the event and, days later, promoted his cause on CBS Minnesota, whining about how "white people deserve civil rights." Related: Jennifer Lawrence Encourages Unmasking White Supremacists! He also flipped the term "white supremacy" on its head, explaining: "As far as the term white supremacist goes, in my view, anybody that thinks white people don't need advocacy, they are the white supremacists." Uh... wut? Like most, Peter's family does Na-zi the ways of his bizarre logic. His nephew Jacob Scott has described the pro-white activist as a "crazy Nazi," telling the Forum: "He scares us all. We don't feel safe around him, and we don't know how he came to be this way… We reject him wholly — both him as a vile person who has himself made violent threats against our family, and also his hideous ideology, which we abhor." Pearce echoed the family's sentiments, making it clear his son's "twisted worldview" was not learned at home. In response to the multiple threats the family received, Peter's father added: "His hateful opinions are bringing hateful rhetoric to his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his parents. Why must we be guilty by association? Again, none of his beliefs were learned at home. We do not, never have, and never will, accept his twisted worldview." Yikes. How did we get here, again? But of course when Donald Trump opened his butthole mouth on the subject, it was to say that he felt police weren't brutal ENOUGH to the "thugs" they arrest! Video: Maxine Waters Take Trump's Treasury Secretary! POTUS spoke in front of law enforcement officers on Long Island, New York on Friday to discuss efforts to combat the violent MS-13 gang, and received resounding applause when he promoted police brutality. While thanking the officers on all the great work they do in keeping the streets safe -- something we all commend -- the president took a nose dive into Trumpsanity suggesting the officers should hit suspects' heads on the doors of their police cars. He mused: "When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, and I said, ‘Please don't be too nice.' Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don't hit their head and they've just killed somebody, don't hit their head, I said, ‘You can take the hand away, OK?'" The room responded to his remarks with applause: President urges officers to commit acts of brutality, officers laugh and cheer wildly. Beginning to think problem isn't a few bad apples. pic.twitter.com/o1sSgw6lGy — Matthew Gertz (@MattGertz) July 28, 2017 Though, to be fair, the suspect in Trump's hypothetical scenario HAD just killed someone. Not to mention, the MS-13 gang has severely affected the Long Island community recently, as civilians have been rocked by a string of high-profile murders in the area. Related: Trump Blindsided By Republican Senators! The Shit-Stirrer in Chief continued to say that his administration would be "changing" laws to no longer protect the criminals, adding: "For years and years, [laws have] been made to protect the criminal. Totally protect the criminal, not the officers. You do something wrong, you're in more jeopardy than they are. These laws are stacked against you. We're changing those laws… We're going to enforce our laws, protect our borders and support our police like our police have never been supported before." Yup, this all goes back to border protection. The president has often spoken about the "criminal cartel" MS-13 -- which has origins in Central America -- and its relationship to illegal immigration. No one is arguing that the MS-13 is a problem, though some experts have raised concerns about the Trump administration using the gang to justify its controversial immigration policies. As for Trump's police brutality comments, there's a huge difference between rallying officers and encouraging "rough rides" like the ones that killed Freddie Grey and Philando Castile. Charlottesville had voted to remove their statues of Confederate general Robert E. Lee, as people found them to be glorifying the side of the Civil War that fought to keep slavery. Related: Solange Deleted Her Twitter And Told Nazis To Go Fuck Themselves! That's why neo-Nazis, neo-confederates, KKK members, and other white supremacist subgroups banded together and descended on the town in the first place. Well, an unexpected voice has arisen to condemn the actions of the people protesting the statue's removal -- Robert E. Lee V, the great-great grandson of the Southern soldier. He told CNN on Wednesday: "Those sorts of acts on Saturday, that's just not to be tolerated. We feel strongly that Gen. Lee would never ever stand for that sort of violence." He also wanted to send a positive message to those hurt in the violence: "We just want people to know that the Lee family just really wants to send their best to the people in Charlottesville." As for the statues? Related: Former Presidents Shame Trump With Eloquent, Unequivocal Response To White Supremacists Lee thinks it's perfectly understandable to discuss taking them down without any violence: "Eventually, someone is going to have to make a decision, and if that's the local lawmaker, so be it. But we have to be able to have that conversation without all of the hatred and the violence. And if they choose to take those statues down, fine." He added: "Maybe it's appropriate to have them in museums or to put them in some sort of historical context in that regard." Seems totally reasonable to us. Not having to walk by tributes to men who fought for slavery every day is an important step in the healing of this country that's been long overdue. You know who else thought so? General Lee himself. After the war, he wrote on the subject of monuments: "I think it wiser not to keep open the sores of war, but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavoured to obliterate the marks of civil strife and to commit to oblivion the feelings it engendered." Something tells us these white supremacists won't honor the wishes of their "hero" when it doesn't align with their racist mission. [Image via Twitter.].....»»

Related: Trump's Defense Of The Confederacy Just Lost Him America's Unions! George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, the 41st and 43rd Presidents respectively, released a statement on Wednesday about the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. And though it didn't mention Trump by name, it did serve to shame him by explaining how he should have reacted: "America must always reject racial bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred in all forms. As we pray for Charlottesville, we are reminded of the fundamental truths recorded by that city's most prominent citizen in the Declaration of Independence: we are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights. We know these truths to be everlasting because we have seen the decency and greatness of our country." LOVE the reference to the Declaration of Independence. We don't know if it's coincidental, but the mention of a piece of American history of which Trump supporters have already shown their ignorance is some classy shade. Or maybe just sincere patriotism? Related: Obama's Response To The Charlottesville Rally Is Now The Most Liked Tweet Ever Damn, when someone just being patriotic seems to be shaming the POTUS, you know we're screwed. And the Bushes weren't the only Republicans who released statements that seemed to exist to shame Trump's declaration that there were "very fine people on both sides." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote on Wednesday: "The white supremacist, KKK, and neo-nazi groups who brought hatred and violence to Charlottesville are now planning a rally in Lexington. Their messages of hate and bigotry are not welcome in Kentucky and should not be welcome anywhere in America. We can have no tolerance for an ideology of racial hatred. There are no good neo-nazis, and those who espouse their views are not supporters of American ideals and freedoms. We all have a responsibility to stand against hate and violence, wherever it raises its evil head." Again, no mention of Trump by name, but come on. No need. [Image via NBC/Twitter.].....»»

I don’t want to go quickly…I want to know the facts. During his press conference, Trump took questions from reporters, and was continuously calling reporters “fake news.” In addition, the President then placed some blame on the alt-left counter protesters. “What about the alt-left that came charging at…the alt-right, do they have any semblance of guilt? They do,” he said. Trump Can"t Stop Losing Manufacturing Council Members After Charlottesville! SAD!

Remember when Donald Trump told his supporters there would be so much winning, they'd get "tired of winning"? How's that going? When it comes to Trump's manufacturing council, not very well. How's that going? When it comes to Trump's manufacturing council, not very well. Related: Late Night Sounds Off On Trump's Inability To Condemn White Supremacists 45's failure to immediately condemn the alt-right Nazis and their violent actions in Charlottesville -- and continued failure to call it out as domestic terrorism -- has led to a fourth CEO leaving the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative, following execs for Merck, Under Armour, and Intel. This time it's Scott Paul of the Alliance For American Manufacturing, a nonprofit founded to help keep manufacturing jobs in the United States, who tweeted: I'm resigning from the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative because it's the right thing for me to do. — Scott Paul (@ScottPaulAAM) August 15, 2017 BTW, Paul is a Democrat who was unhappy with the difference between the trade policies of candidate Barack Obama and President Obama. Clearly he must realize by now that Trump is not the man to help anyone. Photos: Protesters Flock To Trump Tower After Charlottesville! How is Trump responding to all these companies publicly shaming him? He called them out as "grandstanders" on Tuesday, tweeting: For every CEO that drops out of the Manufacturing Council, I have many to take their place. Grandstanders should not have gone on. JOBS! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 15, 2017 Really? All-caps and monosyllabic. He sure knows how to woo his base. Meanwhile, several companies are staying. GE, Dow Chemical, Whirlpool, Campbell Soup, International Paper, and Nucor all released statements condemning racism and intolerance -- but said essentially that their participation on the council was too important to quit in protest. (Dell just said there was "no change" to its status quo with Trump.) This is the same problem as with Republicans during the election. Everyone is fine condemning the consistently awful things Trump says, but they're too afraid of losing a seat at the table to actually distance themselves from the POTUS. Well, it's time to take a stand, boys. Because if you're not going to expressly denounce this man and his actions, you're turning a blind eye and letting it happen. Sound familiar?
