Get the latest TV casting, scheduling and development news. After months in limbo, CBS All Access has revealed that Star Trek: Discovery will debut Sunday, Sept. 24 with a broadcast on CBS before moving to the CBS All Access online platform. The network recently boosted the episode order, meaning that the show will now run in two installments with the first eight episodes to run on Sundays from Sept. 24-Nov. 5 and the back half picking up in January 2018. According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO have been discussing a possible Watchmen series with The Leftovers honcho Damon Lindelof. The project is still being developed. Zack Snyder directed a 2009 film based on The Watchmen comic, but is not expected to be involved with the series. Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner are reportedly in negotiations with Netflix to star in Highwayman, a drama about a pair of Texas Rangers who put an end to the crime spree of Bonnie & Clyde. A key figure in the first season of ABC’s Designated Survivor won’t be back for Season 2. Virginia Madsen confirmed via Twitter that her character Kimble Hookstraten will not be returning. Speaking of change, NBC is doing a massive overhaul of the freshman drama Taken. Clive Standen and Jennifer Beals will be the lone returning cast members, with Gaius Charles, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Michael Irby, Jose Pablo Cantillo and James Landry Hebert all exiting the show ahead of the second season.
