Clocking in at 195 minutes, the documentary is a cinephile’s dream, as Tavernier gives his own perspective at French filmmakers who have made an impact on his own moviegoing life. “I wanted to grateful, to say thank you to a lot of people,” said Tavernier, whose own credits include ‘Round Midnight and Safe Conduct. “Filmmakers, writers, and composers who have given me so many joys and illuminated my life. This is not about French cinema. This is about my vision on some French films and filmmakers. Though the documentary has candid insight and personal reminisces on such luminaries as Jean-Pierre Melville, Jean-Luc Godard and Jean Gabin, it also spotlights lesser known (but just as talented) artists as actor Eddie Constantine (he starred in Godard’s Alphaville) and director Edmond T. Gréville (Secret Lives, But Not In Vain). Along with providing viewers an immersive look at French film, the documentary also gives us a deeper look into Tavernier’s continuing passion for cinema. “The more I went into filmmaking, the more I discovered things, my admiration grew (for cinema),” said Tavernier. “When I saw the difficulty I had making some films, I became totally (impressed) of how some people like Jacques Becker, Henri-Georges Clouzot or Jean Renoir really got their film made in spite of a lot of things. My Journey Through French Cinema is now playing in select theaters. Find Us On Facebook: Hollywood Outbreak Follow Us On Twitter: @Hollyoutbreak Posted by: Greg Srisavasdi.....»»

Here’s what the 28-year-old actress had to share with the mag: On what portraying Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes taught her: “I would say playing Billie Jean was a bit of a game changer. I am very nervous to communicate my opinions a lot of the time, especially publicly… She [Billie] is so direct and confident in the way that she communicates what she believes is right. To be able to step into that was a pretty powerful experience. It’s something that I still don’t feel entirely comfortable with, but it was also one of the great parts about playing her.” On speaking out for equality: “There is so much power to our voices, and we need to speak out. That’s something that I struggled with in the past, but it’s very hard not to feel galvanized right now, politically or consciously.” On what gives her hope during these uncertain political times: “Nobody is going down without a fight – for love and humanity and equality and coming together. It’s so inspiring to see marches and beautiful writing and creative work. There’s so much power and a grace coming out of so many people who have so much to lose, and the human spirit is incredible. That’s worth a fight every day. And I want to learn how to fight better.” For more from Emma, visit MarieClaire.com......»»

Related: Andrew Garfield Dragged For Queer Baiting In the interview conducted by costar Sarah Silverman for the September issue of Marie Claire, the La La Land actress admitted she's had difficulty in the past communicating her opinions: "I would say playing Billie Jean was a bit of a game changer. I am very nervous to communicate my opinions a lot of the time, especially publicly…She [Billie] is so direct and confident in the way that she communicates what she believes is right. To be able to step into that was a pretty powerful experience. It's something that I still don't feel entirely comfortable with, but it was also one of the great parts about playing her." That's something that I struggled with in the past, but it's very hard not to feel galvanized right now, politically or consciously." She went on: "Nobody is going down without a fight–for love and humanity and equality and coming together. It's so inspiring to see marches and beautiful writing and creative work.
