Ben Affleck Failing Miserably At Rehab

Some of the greatest advice I ever received from an instructor in my life was to be the best at whatever it is you’re involved in. Even if you’re a terrible person. Everyone knows who Hitler is, but no one ever remembers the name of an inmate doing 20 years for half-assing a home invasion. […] The post Ben Affleck Failing Miserably At Rehab appeared first on WWTDD - What Would Tyler Durden Do?. Some of the greatest advice I ever received from an instructor in my life was to be the best at whatever it is you’re involved in. Even if you’re a terrible person. Everyone knows who Hitler is, but no one ever remembers the name of an inmate doing 20 years for half-assing a home invasion. That guy isn’t getting multiple movies made about him years later. That’s why I believe Ben Affleck is going for broke with this alcohol addiction thing. He’s trying really hard to be the best at being the worst. It’s almost impressive how much he’s Afflecking things up. He’s flushed every good thing in his life down the toilet. Meanwhile I can’t get the condom I used on the hooker at 7-11 to flush but somehow Ben slam dunked his acting career and a marriage to Jennifer Garner in there. Nothing but Sprite sponsored 10s across the board from me. He’s like Midas of excrement, everything he touches turns to shit. As you may have heard, Ben Affleck checked into rehab for the third time last month. The decision to seek treatment came on the heels of an epic bender and an intervention staged by Jennifer Garner. You know the situation is bad when your estranged wife you seems to want nothing to do with you feels the need to swoop in and save your life. She acted on behalf of her children because she really thought their dad might die. You may have heard the many reports about Ben leaving rehab. And you may have been confused by the subsequent reports about Ben returning to rehab. You’re right to be baffled, as no one has ever done rehab like this in the history of rehab. As it turns out Ben leaves the facility several times a week in order to work out at his home gym. He then heads back to the treatment center in time for lights out. It’s worth noting that during his time at home Ben is usually visited by Shauna Sexton, his 22-year-old Playboy model girlfriend. The extent to which Ben is half-assing what was supposed to be a life-saving rehab stint is so ridiculous that it’s hard to believe. But folks, this is no mere tabloid gossip — earlier today, Ben’s reps essentially confirmed that he spends the lion’s share of his “treatment” time just chillin’ out at home. Ben treating rehab like rehab needs Ben instead of Ben needing rehab won’t end well. He’s mistaking help for one of his women. You can’t just check-in whenever you feel like and sweet talk your way to sobriety. I guarantee if anyone cared to check the CCTVs within a four mile radius of his house they would see the only work Ben is doing on his biceps comes from lifting full pilsner glasses at happy hour instead of at his home gym like he promised. According to Us Weekly, the actor turned to his ex Jennifer Garner and brother Casey Affleck after realizing he was "spiraling" and "unhappy" before entering rehab months ago. The insider told the mag: "Ben reached a breaking point. He knew he was spiraling and was unhappy." Related: Ben Is Donating Residuals From His Harvey Weinstein Films Before things got worse, the 44-year-old confided in the mother of his three children: "Ben told her everything that was going on with his life. He was devastated but knew he had to change." Along with Casey (who is sober), Garner found a rehab facility in northern Los Angeles: "After everything they've been through, she is going to continue to be there for him when he needs her, no matter what the circumstances." Another source added of Jen's loyalty: "From the smoking to drinking and gambling, Jen has always been the person who can get through to him. She keeps Ben in line as much as she can ... No one ever told her she needs to stick around to help Ben, but she always will. They are both good parents and good people." The big step to get help came after a specific incident where Ben could feel himself slipping back into his old habits: "There wasn't a specific instance that made him check into a facility. It was more of a prevention. People in his life knew he needed a treatment that was more serious than what he was currently getting." Now, he's in "a great headspace": "He has learned that dealing with his addiction is an ongoing battle. He understands he cannot just wake up one morning and say, ‘OK, we're all done.' Treatment is like a job." The Justice League star is now participating in an outpatient program to help keep him on the straight and narrow: "He knows he can't get through this all alone. His slip-ups have affected his loved ones, but the good thing is that he's making strides toward recovery. Friends and family have never seen Ben so proactive and serious about wanting to get better. Ben will do whatever it takes to be a great parent." We're hoping he sticks with it! [Image via Ivan Nikolov/Guillermo Proano/WENN.].....»»

Rolling Stone Founder Jann Wenner Accused Of Offering Up Career Advancement In Exchange For Sex

Writer Ben Ryan has gone on the record with Buzzfeed to accuse the Rolling Stone co-founder of sexual harassment over a 2005 incident. Apparently, when Ben was 27 years old, Wenner invited the unknown writer for a meeting. Understandably, the then hungry up-and-comer jumped at the chance to meet with the powerhouse. Related: Louis C.K. Breaks His Silence On Sexual Misconduct Allegations Although the invitation originally felt like Ben's big break, the meeting ended with an offer of career advancement in exchange for sex. How awful. Ryan recalled: "I felt like this was the beginning of me making it. That's how naïve I was at the time." Ben first met Jann for a sit down at the publisher's office, where he was given an assignment for the Men's Journal. Reportedly, Wenner would call and check in every now and then, until one day he invited Ryan to his Upper West Side townhouse. During the visit, the openly gay Jann made his guest a drink and then pounced. He continued: "I had Jann Wenner's tongue in my mouth. I went along for a second but then said something to the effect of ‘Oh please, I'm not that kind of girl.'" While feeling "totally grossed out," Ben tried to diffuse the situation by joking that his psychiatrist predicted this would happen. The realization that someone might know of their meeting allegedly spooked Jann. Ben explained: "It was like the entire temperature of the room changed in a flash... [Wenner] got very upset and was pseudo-threatening of how bad it could be if this got out. All of a sudden I was the bad guy and I felt like I was in the hot seat and being grilled." As Ben tried to leave, Jann hit him with the following proposition -- stay and he'd be given a writing contract. Whoa. In regards to the offer, Ben relayed: "I think there was that moment where it's like time stood still, and you're imagining how this could be the answer to all my struggles. All I would have to do is this one thing. But that's not me. I would never do that." Interesting point. A journal entry from that night reads: "Thursday, August 11, 2005. Last night Jann Wenner asked me to come to his townhouse for a drink at 10:30 p.m. I knew this would happen sooner or later, I just didn't think he'd take such a direct approach. It was the most pure form of sexual harassment: he pawed and groped and I insisted no but he persisted promising me a '25 article contract' in the most disingenuous voice. 'Preferential treatment.' I was forced to kiss him. His mouth was dry and he was a serpent-like kisser, lashing with his tongue. After 90 minutes I left dignity relatively intact." Man, oh man. Wenner has since acknowledge that the meeting took place, but refuses he offered career advancement for sex. In a statement, Jann defended: "I met him twelve years ago and did flirt with him. There was no quid pro quo. He refused my advances, but still went on to have his assignment from Men's Journal published." Ben's ex has defended the writer's account of what went down with Wenner, as he told Buzzfeed: "He was very upset about what transpired. It was one of those things, that he's a freelance writer, and these kinds of meetings and contacts are important for his career. He was hoping it would have been a big break for him." This encounter was certainly a "turning point" in Ryan's freelance career as he made a point to never see Jann in person again. He concluded: "I'm not saying he killed my dreams, but it was a discouraging part of the process." Oof. We're curious to see if other freelancers speak out with similar anecdotes... Almost 13 years later, Kellie Pickler has added a new gig to her already stacked resume full of music and reality -- Daytime TV host! Related: This I Love Kellie Pickler Clip Will Have You In Stitches! The blonde crooner is now 1/2 of the CMT talk show Pickler & Ben, and we have to say, it's loads of fun! Especially since she gave us EXCLUSIVE scoop on her zany cohost Ben Aaron, girl boss executive producer Faith Hill, a surprise welcome gift from Ellen DeGeneres, and so much more! When asked if any current Daytime hosts offered up advice to the budding TV personality, Kellie gushed: "Everybody's been so positive and encouraging. Ellen [DeGeneres] actually sent us a gift. A little surprise gift, when we opened it, confetti shot out to the ceiling." That's so nice to hear! Guess it's not as cutthroat as some would think. Huzzah! Another person encouraging Kellie along the way is Faith, who just so happens to serve as her boss! On the country icon's hopes for the show, Miz Pickler shared: "She just wanted us to be ourselves. It's easier to be yourself than to try and be something you're not. And if you just tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything, right? She encouraged us to be us, have fun, do our thing, and that's what we do." On meeting her cohost Ben for the first time, she revealed: "Honestly, the moment that we met it was like Ben instantly became the big brother I never had. We were able to be ourselves and silly!" And keeping in the Ben theme, Kellie confessed there is one thing that sets Pickler & Ben apart from other shows: "Ben's dance moves. He's an incredible dancer, very flexible." Ow ow!! Besides dancing, they've done some crazy things so far for the cameras since the show's premiere on September 18: "We've done goat yoga, bungee jumping workouts, an America Ninja Warrior training. They built this course in the studio and I definitely have some battle scars from that. I'm pretty bruised up, but it was fun! Every guest we've had on the show is positive and uplifting. It's a feel-good show. And we get to be silly and it's safe for the whole family to watch, for kids. OUCH/Love it!! Read on for more interview HIGHlights (below): What is it like shooting in Nashville as opposed to NY and LA? "It's so wonderful. I mean, I love NY and I love LA. I think your vibe attracts your tribe so as long as I'm in good company, I'm blessed. This is the first talkshow they've ever done in Nashville and it's one of the fastest growing cities in the country right now. People are now coming to Nashville straight to our set to be in the audience." What does your real husband Kyle think of work husband Ben? "Oh my gosh, those two together is a mess. They get along so well. Kyle [Jacobs] loves Ben and Ginger [Zee] is so wonderful. We're so blessed to have each other in our lives." Your new song If It Wasn't For a Woman was written in tribute to your amazing grandmother. What would she think of the talk show? "I think my grandma would be so proud. Anything that's positive and uplifting. Anything that's going to be a safe place for people. She would absolutely love it. She was an incredible woman and I was so blessed to call her mom. I feel her with me today. I feel her wisdom and guidance." You can watch Pickler & Ben on CMT weekdays, check your local listing! The 45-year-old actor responded to Stephen Colbert‘s questions on The Late Show on Thursday night (November 16) in New York City. Ben was asked about the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which he called “hideous,” and then he was asked about the allegations made about him. “What I was accused of by a woman [Hilarie Burton] was of touching her breast while giving her a hug. I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it. I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up,” Ben said. “It’s just the kind of thing we have to as men, as we become more aware of this, be more mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution.’ And to not shy away from these awkward or strange encounters we might have have had.” Ben then brought up an interview he just did in which he felt uncomfortable and laughed awkwardly. “I think the most important thing to do is to support the voices coming forward, believe them, and create a business where more women are empowered and in place so less of this happens. And so that there is a way of reporting this stuff so that people can feel safe doing it,” Ben added. Ben also addressed the issue of male privilege. Click inside for the rest of what Ben Affleck had to say… “I thought I had a sense of the scope of the problem and I thought I understood it and the truth is I really didn’t,” Ben said. “I didn’t understand what it’s like to be groped, to be harassed, to be interrupted, talked over, paid less, you know, pushed around, belittled: all the things that women deal with, for me as a man, I have the privilege of not having to deal with. Part of this for me has been listening to people I really care about and love as they tell me stories of stuff that has happened to them, this is men and women, and recognizing it’s a real thing. I’m not spokesman, I’m not a superhero, I can’t change it by myself. I can just be accountable for myself and my actions.”.....»»

Ben Affleck Still Battling Booze Addiction

Ben Affleck is all about the booze, Tom Brady, and blaming his personal problems on other people. A completely blitzed Ben went on a rant in 2016 on a show called Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons defending Tom Brady from deflategate. Within the first couple seconds of the video you instantly become aware that if he were to be given a breathalyzer he would blow over the legal limit allowed to sit in the passenger seat of a Prius driving in school zone. You can see the amount of focus on Bill’s face concentrating on not turning head while gusts of Tequila breath is blown in his direction from across the table. It was this exchange that alerted the world Affleck couldn’t handle his liquor and since his secret butt buddy Brady recently lost Super Bowl LII Ben is guaranteed to relapse and break the few days of sobriety he maintained at any moment now. His father Tim is blaming Hollywood. Back in December, Affleck checked into rehab for the third time in less than a year. These days, he’s out of treatment and reportedly sober, but after falling off the wagon so many times, Ben is no doubt aware that alcoholism is a lifelong battle. Ben’s father, Tim Affleck, has also struggled with addiction. It seems the elder Affleck believes his son’s struggles are mainly the result of the career he chose. “Hollywood is a disgusting place!” Tim told the outlet. “I’m not a big fan of the entertainment world. I know it’s taken its toll [on Ben].” It’s amazing how having loads of fame and money can drive a person to drink in excess everyday. I personally know people with the same problem who haven’t starred in The Town or set foot in Hollywood. So how much is being a celebrity to blame for making bad decisions? At the very least being a rich and famous fuck up is better than being the guy who smells like Smirnoff and soiled underwear outside of the bar. That guy doesn’t get the pleasure of divorcing women like Jennifer Garner so quit the belly aching and own your mistakes. As you may know, the 45-year-old actor is currently on a press tour for Justice League -- but interviewers would be remiss to not bring up Affleck's connection to the Harvey Weinstein allegations, as well as his own controversial behavior. On Thursday night, the father of three appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, who didn't hesitate to ask Affleck the tough questions about the clear abuse of power against women in the industry. Even though the celeb nervously quipped, "This is a comedy show, correct?" initially, we applaud him for not shying away -- and encouraging everyone to believe the women (and men!) coming forward. Related: The Justice League Reviews Are In When asked specifically about the disgraced producer who helped begin his career, Jennifer Garner's ex said: "You know, for me, it was awful to see the extent of these terrible crimes. It was hideous. I haven't worked for Harvey in more than 15 years, but nonetheless, I felt this attachment. I did movies like Good Will Hunting, Shakespeare in Love and Chasing Amy—early movies that I really loved doing, when I still was totally brand new. And so, it sort of tainted that a little bit to realize while we were having these experiences and making these movies, there were people who were suffering and dealing with awful experiences. I didn't really know what to do with that, you know? It's hard to know." As we reported, the actor has since decided to donate his residual money from Miramax movies to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and Film Independent: "I didn't want to sort of cash a check form the guy, and I thought, 'Maybe I can feel OK about it if it's going to a good cause.'" Colbert went on to give Affleck the opportunity to comment on his own allegations of "sexual impropriety" -- to which the Argo star said: "What I was accused of by a woman was of touching her breast while giving her a hug. I don't remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it. I certainly don't think she's lying or making it up. It's just the kind of thing we have to, as men, I think, as we become more aware of this, be really, really mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, 'If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution.' And to not shy away from these awkward or strange encounters we might have had where we're sort of navigating and not knowing." Referencing a clip that went viral earlier this week, Affleck said: "I just did an interview where somebody asked me a question—it was a serious question, and I kind of felt uncomfortable and didn't know what to say and laughed awkwardly. It's just a tricky thing to try to handle. I think the most important thing to do is to support the voices coming forward, believe them, and create a business where more women are empowered and in place so less of this happens, and so there is a way of reporting this stuff so that people can feel safe doing it." The Oscar winner also acknowledged the privilege he has as a male in the business, explaining: "I thought I had a sense of the scope of the problem and I thought I understood it, and the truth is I really didn't. I didn't understand what it's like to be groped, to be harassed, to be interrupted, talked over, paid less, you know, pushed around, belittled—all the things that women deal with, that for me as a man, I have the privilege of not having to deal with. Part of this, for me, has been listening to people I really care about and love as they tell me stories of stuff that has happened to them—this is men and women—and recognizing it's a real thing. I'm not spokesman. I'm not a superhero. I can't change it by myself. I can just be accountable for myself and my actions." LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK, BEN!! You can watch the full segment (below): Ben spoke about the same issue on Friday morning with Savannah Guthrie by talking about the current cultural shift because of the courageous #MeToo movement: "It certainly feels like a really important moment. It feels like a time when survivors are finding their voice, and people—and I include include myself in this—are really discovering the terrible extent of this problem here in our country. I certainly don't think it's just limited to Hollywood. But I expect if you see it this prevalent in this industry, it must extend to finance, tech and all those other places, and it's really disturbing. It's also inspiring to see people come forward and assert themselves. That's very moving." As for whether he knew about Harvey's disgusting behavior, the director said: "I knew he was sleazy and kind of a bully, but unfortunately that wasn't that uncommon. I was brand new to Hollywood. I was 24 years old. I had never made a movie. I didn't know much of anything, really. It really is a shame, because although I stopped working with Harvey a long time ago, those movies hold a special place in my heart. To now look back on it and think, 'Gosh, some other people were going through something really ugly, difficult and terrible and disturbing and terrifying while that was happening,' is kind of...I don't know ... The only thing I can think to do is give my residuals from my Harvey movies to a couple of organizations that I think are making a difference, and try to reconcile that. It's a way for me to feel better about that early stage of my career, when I made those movies with him." When Guthrie asked Affleck to set the record straight about Rose McGowan's claim that she told Ben in the past about being attacked by Weinstein, he replied: "I don't really want to get into other people's individual stories, because I feel like those are their stories and they're entitled to tell as much or as little of those as they want. I believe Rose. I support her. I really like and admire her tenacity, and I wish her the best." Related: Jennifer Garner & Casey Affleck Helped Ben Check Into Rehab Ultimately, Ben said he's dedicated to "looking inward" and being accountable for his actions: "That's all you can do, certainly as a man in my position and recognizing how fortunate I am, recognizing the privilege that I have. I'm also really trying to open my eyes and hold myself accountable, because that's all we can really do. It's a lot harder than pointing a finger at everybody else, really asking, 'What have I done that's crossed the line? How can I do better? How can I be more respectful, more inclusive, more mindful of this?' That's the kind of person that I want to be." As for what he would have done differently, the A-lister admitted: "There's plenty of jokes I wouldn't have made, or things I wouldn't have done. It's a time when—and it's happened almost overnight—there's a heightened level of awareness. One of the good things about that is the self-consciousness of, 'How am I fitting into the world here? How are my actions affecting other people? How is this interaction going to leave this person feeling?' It's easy to sort of gloss over that stuff and get self-involved. The hard thing is really, as I said, to be mindful and live in the present moment." Watch his interview on TODAY (below): While we think Ben's past actions are inexcusable, we do appreciate him stepping into the dialogue and acknowledging his wrongdoing head-on, while calling for empowerment of women. These are the tough conversations we should all be having! P.S. to end on a light note, watch Ben reveal that Donald Trump would demand to appear in any movies filmed at his properties (lol) (below)! Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Selena Gomez, Ava DuVernay, Sylvia Earle, Nikki Haley, Ilhan Omar, Lori Robinson, Katharine Jefferts Schori, Mo’ne Davis, and Janet Yellen were all photographed by Brazilian photographer Luisa Dörr with her iPhone. “Our goal with this extraordinary project…is for every woman and girl to find someone who moves them, to find someone whose presence in the highest reaches of success says to them that it is safe to climb, come on up, the view is spectacular. They were candid about their challenges, aware of their responsibilities, eager to tell the stories that will surprise and inspire. We hope everyone, at every life stage, will encounter an insight here that will open a door to new ambitions,” editor-in-chief of Time Nancy Gibbs said about the new project. “It’s already difficult to get up every day and just feel good about yourself without seeing the highlights of everyone else’s life. That’s why I like being vulnerable with my fans on social media. I like that they’ve seen my mistakes. I try to use that as a way to connect with them. That’s all I can do. I hope that they know that strength doesn’t mean that you have to put on a facade. Strength is being vulnerable,” Selena said during her interview. For more from the women, visit Time.com......»»
