Orphan Black‘s latest episode aired last night and revealed the death of Felix and Sarah’s beloved foster mother Mrs. S, played by actress Maria Doyle Kennedy. Mrs. S was shot by Ferdinand after he was betrayed by Rachel. The two were in a shooting match and while Mrs. S did get in some shots, she was ultimately killed. Creator Graeme Manson spoke with EW about the shocking death. “If you track the story and you track the story of Sarah and Mrs. S, we’re telling a generational story now. Ultimately, we’re telling that story about Sarah’s journey, and to step into those big shoes of her mother is really the strongest journey that Sarah can make. So, there was a drop in the writer’s room. There was one of those moments of deep breath when the idea came up because it’s our final season. Someone has to go, and this made sense. And the first phone calls that we made were to Tatiana and to Maria to talk about this, and everybody had the same reaction — that gut reaction that this was the gut punch the series needed,” Graeme told the publication......»»

Twitter Blasts Issa Rae For Race Jokes She Made In 2015 Book — But Her Fans Come In Strong With Support!

Twitter is divided by the words of Issa Rae — words, mind you, she wrote over three years ago! The comedian is getting heat for a passage in her 2015 book, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, which encourages black women to shack up with Asian men because they're more intellectual than black men. The comedian is getting heat for a passage in her 2015 book, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, which encourages black women to shack up with Asian men because they're more intellectual than black men. Related: Azealia Banks Blasts Kim Kardashian Over Kanye Defense While some Twitter users were quick to point out how Issa's jokes are racist, others argued that the entire publication was clearly satirical -- and even if it wasn't, there's nothing wrong with Issa stating her preference for Asian dudes! Who do U side with? See what Issa is getting heat for -- and the responses -- (below): What stands out to me is (1) how much more straight forward Issa Rae can be about Asian women (saying they are "ditching" Asian men for white) than Asian women themselves, and (2) how there is a similar, unspoken diss of black men here as less intellectual than Asian men. pic.twitter.com/9MBSGw9mhg — Five Alive (@Mont_Jiang) April 29, 2018 Also... Defenders came in droves to school Issa's critics, noting that she is far from the first comedian to make humorous observations about race: On Issa Rae. Because context matters. And because I read her book. And because I taught her book. The first pic is the intro to the book, which I’ll come back to. 2-4 are the whole section that’s been shared. pic.twitter.com/jffPNI5L1W — Fierce & Feminine (@DrRondreaMathis) April 30, 2018 Issa Rae is a comedian. She’s not a sociologist, anthropologist, or public intellectual. Her book isn’t hard science. It’s humorous observations about growing up Non-American Black with a weird name. — Fierce & Feminine (@DrRondreaMathis) April 30, 2018 People are really complaining about about Issa Rae’s book that she wrote years ago 🤦🏾‍♀️. Never mind the fact that she was being scarcastic or that she has been in a long-term relationship with a black man. This is the age where you have to be offended by something. — Jessica Pearson (@PurpleRaeen) April 30, 2018 While you all are trying to put #IssaRae on front street for liking Asian men... BBC Flawlessly Responds To The Sexist Snowflakes Upset Over Doctor Who"s First Woman Time Lord!

Keep weeping, snowflakes — the BBC don't give a fuck! On Sunday, it was revealed that Jodie Whittaker would play the first female Time Lord in the hit series Doctor Who, and most fans were jumping for joy. Of course, a few less-evolved fans were upset over a woman (gasp!) playing the 13th Doctor and criticized the network for ruining the sanctity of the sci-fi show. Such complaints questioned how a time traveling alien with otherworldly, regenerative abilities could possibly go from Peter Capaldi to the Broadchurch actress. QUIZ: How Long Would YOU Survive Game Of Thrones? Time-bending, sure. Age-bending, no problem-o. But GENDER-bending? How can one possibly wrap their heads around such a perplexing, doctor-ruining character trait like that? Thankfully, BBC issued a response to the haters, delicately explaining it has long been established in the show that Time Lords are able to switch gender -- and those who aren't on board can sit on a sonic screwdriver! The BBC Complaints page stated how "viewers contacted us unhappy that Jodie Whittaker has been cast as the new Doctor," before responding: "Since the first Doctor regenerated back in 1966, the concept of the Doctor as a constantly evolving being has been central to the programme. The continual input of fresh ideas and new voices across the cast and the writing and production teams has been key to the longevity of the series. The Doctor is an alien from the planet Gallifrey and it has been established in the show that Time Lords can switch gender. As the Controller of BBC Drama has said, Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor. She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role. She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor. We hope viewers will enjoy what we have in store for the continuation of the story." Translation: go fly a Tardis and time-warp the fuck over it! Whittaker will make her debut after Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffatt's departure following the Christmas special -- and WE. CANNOT. WAIT! [Image via BBC.].....»»
