And people always said, ‘Oh no, it’ll never get remade! It’s a classic! They could never top it!’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’ll get remade. It’s a massive story! The characters are so beloved,” Sean added about his character. “When I saw the Amazon thing, that didn’t even occur to me. I just sort of thought, ‘What would it be like to see the next Sam there?’ I think it’s an intriguing idea [but] the devil’s in the details. How would they do it? How? Who?’”.....»»

Peter Jackson Responds to Harvey Weinstein"s Denial of "Lord of the Rings" Casting Story

Peter Jackson has released a lengthy statement in response to Harvey Weinstein‘s denial of blacklisting Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino during the Lord of the Rings casting process. The Weinstein brothers were involved with the fantasy franchise when their studio Miramax was helping develop the films. The studio didn’t end up green-lighting the movie and the franchise moved to New Line, where the final decisions were made. Harvey‘s rep claims that he had no input on casting as “all casting was done by New Line.” Peter says that during his initial conversations with Weinstein, he brought up Ashley and Mira as possibly casting choices and he was told to “steer clear” of them “because they claimed to have had ‘bad experiences’ with these particular actresses in the past.” “This type of comment is not unusual – it can happen with any studio on any film, when different actor’s names come up in conversation – but once you hear negative feedback about somebody, you don’t forget it,” Peter said in his statement to Deadline. He added, “The movies changed hands from Miramax to New Line before casting actually got underway – but because we had been warned off Ashley and Mira by Miramax, and we were naive enough to assume we’d been told the truth, Fran [Walsh] and I did not raise their names in New Line casting conversations.” Click inside to read the full statement… Read the full statement from Peter Jackson below: Aspects of Harvey’s denial are insincere. He is basically saying that “this blacklisting couldn’t be true because New Line cast the movie”. That’s a deflection from the truth. In the 18 months we developed the Lord of the Rings at Miramax, we had many casting conversations with Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and their executives. During this period, no offers were made to actors because that occurs after a film is greenlit, and Miramax never greenlit these films. However, many conversations occurred internally regarding potential casting. Fran Walsh and I recall that Morgan Freeman, Paul Scofield, David Bowie, Liam Neeson, Natascha McElhone, Claire Forlani, Francesca Annis, Max von Sydow, and Daniel Day Lewis were some of the names discussed with Miramax for possible roles in The Lord of the Rings movies. Amongst the many names raised, Fran and I expressed our enthusiasm for Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino. In fact we met with Ashley and discussed two possible roles with her. After this meeting we were told by Miramax to steer clear of both Ashley and Mira, because they claimed to have had “bad experiences” with these particular actresses in the past. Fran Walsh was in the same meeting, and remembers these negative comments about Ashley and Mira as clearly as I do. We have no reason to make it up. This type of comment is not unusual – it can happen with any studio on any film, when different actor’s names come up in conversation – but once you hear negative feedback about somebody, you don’t forget it. We were not in a position to offer Ashley or Mira a role in the movies, but we attempted to have their names added to a list, for when casting began. Each role can have many actors names listed for future auditions and meetings. In these film maker/studio relationships, there has to be consensus in casting choices – either side can generally veto suggested names for various reasons, and in pre-Lord of the Rings days, we didn’t have the power to override the studio on casting choices. The movies changed hands from Miramax to New Line before casting actually got underway – but because we had been warned off Ashley and Mira by Miramax, and we were naive enough to assume we’d been told the truth, Fran and I did not raise their names in New Line casting conversations. Nearly 20 years later, we read about the sexual misconduct allegations being made against Harvey Weinstein and we saw comments by both Mira and Ashley, who felt they had been blacklisted by Miramax after rejecting Harvey’s sexual advances. Fran and I immediately remembered Miramax’s negative reaction when we put their names forward, and we wondered if we had unwittingly been part of the alleged damage to their careers, at the hands of Miramax. We have no direct evidence linking Ashley and Mira’s allegations to our Lord of the Rings casting conversations of 20 years ago – but we stand by what we were told by Miramax when we raised both of their names, and we are recounting it accurately. If we were unwitting accomplices in harming their careers, Fran and I unreservedly apologise to both Ashley and Mira......»»

What He Looks Like Now Will Shock You appeared first on wwtdd. Sassy and near-death starlet Tara Reid jetted off the Tulum Mexico looking more like Gollum than ever, and made sure to flaunt every part of her melting candle body in multiple hot bikinis. If you like old house cats with bellies that seem completely detached from their bodies, or if you saw E.T. and thought “I’d love to know what his child would look like if he had sex with a sea monkey” then today is your day. Because Reid is all these things and more. The complete package. I’ve been following Reid’s gradual transformation from alive woman to corpse since way back in July of 2017, and I think I can safely that this look is her deadest yet. The worst thing about being an alleged bulimic whore and looking like this is that in many cases the combination of speed, coke, and eating disorders can make people look hot. Why just look at a 2000’s Kate Moss. But time is a fickle friend, and so is a plastic surgeon that you find on Groupon, and neither has been particularly kind to Reid. Even the firecracker editorial team at Backgrid, the same people who have the guts to call Laura Dern not a dried apple doll, had these two gems to say about Reid in their blurbs: The very thin and frail Sharknado star laughs it up with a girlfriend while hanging out at a bar on the beach. And: Tara is looking uncomfortably skinny as she continues to enjoy her New Year holiday. As always, I’ll leave you with the comforting notion that Reid is at least living out the rest of her years without shame or reservation. Her motto of “If you don’t got it, flaunt it” is ironically the same as the herd of progressive Dove water buffalo spin-offs like feminist icon Ashley Graham. Different means to the same tragic stomach-churning end. Photo Credit: Backgrid The post Remember Gollum? What He Looks Like Now Will Shock You appeared first on wwtdd......»»

Audiences are craving female-driven stories and nostalgia these days, so combining the two seems like a guaranteed slam dunk. But not every male-driven classic works with the opposite gender... specifically, when the entire premise of a story revolves around boys being idiots because they're boys. That's what people are frantically trying to point out after Warner Bros. announced plans to remake Lord of the Flies -- but with young girls stranded on the island instead of boys! Related: Patty Jenkins Responds To James Cameron's Wonder Woman Slam! Those who read William Golding's 1954 novel (or even Sparknoted it) say the story wouldn't make sense with all girls because it was meant to show the pitfalls of toxic masculinity. Many critics mused that instead of turning into barbaric animals, a group of stranded girls would either peacefully work together or just leave each other the fuck alone. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the remake will be written and directed by two men, Scott McGehee and David Siegel -- which is hardly a sign we're in for the feminist coming-of-age film of the decade. What do you think, Perezious Bookworms? Can Lord of the Flies be successfully remade with a group of girls? See what people are saying and comment (below)! On Wednesday, veteran casting associate Andy Henry was exposed by The Hollywood Reporter for manipulating actresses into disrobing during private, paid auditioning sessions. In fact, this behavior got Henry fired from his CSI casting gig and his own firm in 2008, as it was revealed that he used this strategy on up-and-comers seeking costarring roles on the crime drama. Related: Tom Sizemore Dropped From Horror Movie Project Sadly, some women fell for Andy's "coaching technique," as they felt compelled to please him since he was a key way to land entry-level parts. Man, oh man. To make matters worse, since the firing was never publicly disclosed, Henry went on to work on MAJOR motion pictures -- including Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, The Descendants, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Elysium. Tsk, tsk. Thankfully, five women have made the brave decision to come forward to detail their unsavory experiences with Andy. These women became connected thanks to the #MeToo campaign. Understandably, the actresses feel they were preyed upon. And it seems as though Andy thoroughly planned out his manipulation as the ladies' respective encounters with Henry were practically identical. Per the accusers, Henry used the same scene from a 2006 episode of the procedural, where a character struggles with a rare genetic disorder that causes excess hair growth. On meeting the casting professional at Reel Pros, actress Jenny Kern recalled: "His line was, 'It's a really challenging scene and I can tell you can handle it, but it definitely requires more work than what we do here. Do you have any time to stay afterward to push a little harder with [the material]?' I was really flattered." Andy had Jenny perform the scene a few times before suggesting that, in order to achieve "more vulnerability," she should take her bra off. According to Kern, the industry vet became dissatisfied with the situation and "incrementally asked [her] to take [her] clothes off." Jenny eventually complied so that she could get the meeting over with. After manipulating Jenny into her underwear, Andy began to improvise a scene that was highly inappropriate. She continued: "He started saying things, improvising as this detective character: 'I can see your tits,' 'I can see you shave your pussy.' He did it until I finally cried." He ended the meeting by thanking Jenny for her performance. How awful. Tessa Goss had a similar run-in with Andy while at Culver City's acting center ITA. She added: "He prefaced by saying, as he'd playact frustration, running his hands through his hair, 'This is going to seem super-crazy, but don't think it's super-weird.' That he works with actresses all the time. His thing was that [the performance] would feel more authentic if you can feel your nipples against your clothes. I thought, 'I need to get out of here.' But there's also this sick actor part of me that thought, 'I need to get out of here as friends.'" Tessa chose to leave the meeting, as she was pregnant with her third child and not eager to show her baby bump to a stranger. Goss later emailed ITA about Andy's behavior and later received the following reply: "Dear God! Just tell me that no one asked you to disrobe!!!" SMH. Andy's advances left quite the impact on his victims as many began to doubt their talent following the upsetting invitations. Catherine Black, who rebuffed Henry's request at AIA Actor's Studio, shared: "It really planted a seed in my head, that maybe I wasn't good enough. Of, what did I do wrong? It made me feel ashamed." Through AIA, Andy met another victim, whom he allegedly groped. Mandy June Turpin, who claims Henry touched her shoulders and breasts during their session, relayed: "I thought, 'Thank God, somebody said something.' You're afraid to speak up. You're someone without credits. And he went on to work again in the business anyway." Andy also preyed on an intern at the casting firm where he worked, named Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer. Reportedly, Henry offered to give aspiring star Jacqueline Mueller private acting advice back in 2008. Using the same CSI scene, the casting expert advised the intern to take off her bra, a request she followed. When Andy told her to unzip her sweater, Mueller realized the situation had become one of misconduct. Related: Sixth Woman Accuses Roy Moore Of Sexual Assault Jacqueline remembered: "Then he asked me to unzip my sweater. If I'd unzipped it, I would've been topless. I felt disgusted and bamboozled." In order to "loosen" her up, Andy then offered Mueller a glass of whiskey. She quipped: "I don't remember him reaching out to the men in the office to 'help' them." Ugh. Andy has since responded to the allegations with the following statement: "Nine years ago, I tried what I thought was a coaching technique, but which I learned very quickly was foolish and foolhardy. It was brought to light almost immediately, and as you were correctly informed, I was terminated from my employment in 2008 as a result. I was then, and remain to this day, profoundly sorry about these incidents. I took responsibility right away for using nudity as a technique to explore the vulnerability portrayed in a scene, without being cognizant of the potential damage to the human being in the room. I was not aware of the allegations of fondling until now, and do not believe or recall that such a thing happened. I never meant to make anyone feel pressured into doing anything, nor did I ever consciously intend to hurt anyone. My job was gone, my standing in the entertainment community was greatly lowered, and my career options were severely curtailed. I lost my marriage and declared bankruptcy as a result. I was punished for my actions, but I have spent the last nine years rebuilding myself into a person who could never do such a thoughtless and careless thing again. I have formally converted to Judaism, I have dedicated my life to the service of God and to trying to make some repair in this world. And I have striven to live and work every day as honorably and as honestly as possible. I am, again, inexpressibly sorry for the pain that these incidents caused." Looks like someone is REALLY trying to downplay this controversy. Is there a way to fast track his ousting??? [Image via YouTube.].....»»

Andy Dick Hits Back After Being Fired From Indie Movie Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations — "People Are So Sensitive"

Hollywood's war against sexual misconduct is very much on! Andy Dick has learned this the hard way as he has just been fired from the independent movie Raising Buchanan over sexual harassment claims. Andy Dick has learned this the hard way as he has just been fired from the independent movie Raising Buchanan over sexual harassment claims. While The Hollywood Reporter was unable to reach any of the victims for comments, two sources close to the situation detailed the comedian's allegedly inappropriate on-set behavior. Related: Rose McGowan Links Arrest Warrant To Recent Activism Efforts According to the insiders, Andy has been accused of groping people's genitals, licking and/or kissing others without consent, and sexually propositioning at least four members of the production. It's currently unknown if those propositioned were Dick's fellow actors or crew members. In an attempt to get control of the story, the 51-year-old industry vet spoke with THR to tell his side of the firing. Although he has intensely denied the groping claim, he has noted that it's "possible" he may've licked people. Oh, and Andy has admitted to coming onto his coworkers on Raising Buchanan. Sadly, these allegations aren't necessarily shocking as Dick has made a name for himself by participating in outlandish comedy. The controversial funny man is VVV aware of his reputation, as he told the publication: "...my middle name is ‘misconduct.' They know what they signed up for." Nonetheless, Andy was vehement that he did NOT grope anyone on the set of the indie flick. He continued: "I don't grope people anymore. I don't expose myself anymore... I do understand that the temperature in the world right now is delicate." Dick is clearly referencing the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which has led to several other prominent men being exposed as predators. Supposedly, Andy antagonized those on the film by bringing up Weinstein in conversations. Per his chat with the mag, the Dancing With The Stars alum implied that he had been defending Harvey -- with whom he has made two films. Andy relayed: "Can I tell you my side of it? They were so incensed by what I was saying. People are so sensitive." For those readings this, word to the wise, it's NOT worth defending Weinstein. We mean, dude is a straight up predator. Other instances may've also contributed to Andy's firing as it's said the comic arrived a day late to production, didn't know his lines, AND brought along a friend who caused issues during filming. Specifically, the pal kept falling asleep and snoring while others filmed. Andy has since confirmed that the friend was his "sober companion," named Paul Ryder. The Happy Mondays bassist said he did not see Andy grope anyone. Related: Spacey Will No Longer Be Honored At The International Emmys On the many accusations listed (above), Dick defended: "I didn't grope anybody. I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That's my thing — I licked Carrie Fisher at a roast. It's me being funny. I'm not trying to sexually harass people... I didn't grab anybody's genitals,. Of course I'm going to proposition people. I'm single, depressed, lonely and trying to get a date. They can just say no, and they probably did and then I was done." Eh. It isn't "funny" if other people aren't in on the joke. Andy's sobriety was also questioned during production as one of the tipsters said Dick acted as though he was intoxicated. For those who may question Andy's sobriety, he clapped back with: "I overtook my medication and took too many Xanax and I was a bit loopy (on set). That didn't make me rape people. I really don't get it. I'm always trying to be funny and trying to get a date. I still don't have a date. I am on Tinder and I'm looking." Oof. To make matters worse, Andy attempted to excuse his bad behavior in the exact same way Weinstein did, by blaming his age: "I don't know the difference between sexual harassment and trying to get a date. In the '70s, all the girlfriends I got was by kissing and licking their cheek. I don't know anymore. There were beautiful women and beautiful guys on the set. I flirt with them. I might kiss someone on the set and ask them to go to dinner. They are the ones that took it south." Rather than kissing them up front, ask them to dinner first?? You know, keep your hands to yourself and all of that!! Andy has since promised that if other sexual misconduct allegations come to light, he will retire. Whoa. [Image via FayesVision/WENN.].....»»
