Here"s Why People Are Pissed About Belle Of The Ball Sean Spicer"s Cameo Last Night At The Emmys

While we admit the former Press Secretary's cameo during Stephen Colbert's opening bit at the Emmys was pretty funny -- we feel some type of way about seeing Hollywood buddying up to this man who unapologetically spewed alternative facts in the name of Donald Trump to the American public. After Spicer made a crack onstage about the award show's crowd size, he stuck around to pose with pictures with A-list celebs like Alec Baldwin, Dolly Parton, James Corden, LL Cool J, Michael Kelly, and Gerald McRaney. Understandably, people watching at home were not thrilled that CBS was seemingly rewarding and trying to normalize an official who made a career out of lying to us. It wasn't so funny just a few months ago. Related: Emmy Awards 2017 -- Twitpics & Instagrams! Ch-ch-check out the negative reactions (below)! What pariah? Sean Spicer getting mobbed in #Emmys lobby. Related: Harvey's Younger Brother SLAMS Him In New Interview The Oscar winner has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by numerous women across his career, and now the Academy's 54-member board of governors has taken aim at him with a VERY pointed statement stripping all membership and industry ties from him. The Academy released a statement which read, in part (below): "[The board voted] to immediately expel him from the Academy. We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over ... What's at issue here is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society. The board continues to work to establish ethical standards of conduct that all Academy member will be expected to exemplify." According to the Academy, "well in excess of the two-thirds majority" needed agreed to expel Weinstein during the Board's vote. Related: Uh… Harvey Is Now Lying About Oprah?! Weinstein is now VERY firmly on the outs with Hollywood; he's also presently facing a possible expulsion from the Producer's Guild of America, ho will vote Monday on whether to keep Weinstein around. Following a memorable visit to the UN General Assembly, POTUS took to Twitter and wrote: I was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys last night - the worst ever. Smartest people of them all are the "DEPLORABLES." — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 20, 2017 *Eye roll* In typical Trump fashion, the Commander-In-Chief's account of Sunday's award show isn't exactly accurate. Although the ratings for this year's Emmys weren't spectacular, the audience figures didn't drop to any record low. In fact, the numbers had an uptick. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Stephen Colbert-hosted Emmy Awards brought in around 11.4 million viewers. The all time low was last year when only 11.3 million viewers tuned in. Sadly, Donnie isn't the only one who has criticized this year's Emmys. ICYMI, Trump lackey Kellyanne Conway laid into Colbert for making the award show "politicized." Trump apologist Bill O'Reilly also weighed in on the Hollywood bash as he shared on his podcast: "It was like, ah, you're just actors and performers. That's what you do. You're talented but then you have no right to radiate superiority and particularly when it comes to politics when most of you don't know anything." Wowwwwwwww. Could you kiss Donald's ass any more, Bill?? What did YOU think?? Were the Emmys too much this year?? SOUND OFF in the comments (below)! [Image via Instagram/WENN.].....»»

Could Harvey Weinstein Lose His Oscar Over Scandal??

We've heard it's unlikely Harvey Weinstein will face any criminal charges for the acts for which he's been accused — but he's losing everything else. He's been fired, his wife has left him, now he'll likely lose his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He's been fired, his wife has left him, now he'll likely lose his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Related: Alyssa Milano Waited Until Now To Comment Out Of Respect For Georgina Chapman If you weren't aware of Harvey's Oscars influence, his infamously relentless campaigning for his movies has made him the second most thanked person of all time. His companies count 75 Oscar wins; he personally won for producing Best Picture winner Shakespeare In Love in 1998. But now that could all go away, as the Academy released a statement condemning the alleged actions on Wednesday: "The Academy finds the conduct described in the allegations against Harvey Weinstein to be repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the Academy and the creative community it represents. The Board of Governors will be holding a special meeting on Saturday, October 14, to discuss the allegations against Weinstein and any actions warranted by the Academy." So what "actions" are we talking? Well, obviously suspending his membership in the Academy, as the BAFTA Awards have already done. That would mean no more attending the ceremony, no more voting, no more campaigning. Related: Léa Seydoux Describes The Night She Says Harvey 'Jumped On' Her But revoking membership in the Academy is a rare thing indeed. Even convicted rapist Roman Polanski was never kicked out. But what about his Oscar getting taken back? We mean, the Olympics strip people of their medals. Well, that's probably never going to happen. Only eight times has a nomination been revoked, and an artist has NEVER been stripped of a statue in the nearly nine decade history of the awards. Do YOU think they should change that policy, Perezcious readers?? Weigh in (below)! [Image via WENN.].....»»

The Academy Award nominations are out, and unless your thing is having a fifteen-dollar beer at an indie theater surrounded by twenty-year-olds decked in ironic aviator glasses and head-to-toe ironic Carhartt, the list of noms might look like a random collection of words that when deciphered spell out “The worst thing ever.” I don’t know what Ebbing, Missouri is, and I don’t want to. While #OscarsSoWhite is yesteryear’s moral conundrum in the industry and this year it all about #OscarsSoRapey, the Academy members aren’t about to have a plain yogurt repeat of 2015 and 2016, when all the major nominees were white. Most notably this year the popcorn flick Get Out is nominated under four categories – Best Actor for Daniel Kaluuya, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Jordan Peele, and Best Picture. By the laws of logic any movie with Allison Williams shouldn’t be nominated for anything ever or seen by anybody ever or even get made in the first place. so that alone means that something’s fishy. I saw Get Out in the theater and, as a Chicagoan who has friends with horrible ideas as to what constitutes as fun, actually attended the recording of NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me during which Jordan Peele called in and talked about Get Out. I took a bunch of drugs beforehand so don’t cry for me too much. But do a little. Because it was horrible.     My point is that I’m in deep enough to say that while Get Out was a fun watch, it was more a mid-tier Black Mirror concept (white people fetishizing black people to the extreme of inhabiting their bodies through surgery) then a movie intended to live on in Oscars infamy, and I can’t help but think even Peele himself feels this way deep down. Get Out was released in February – one of the classic dump months for flicks – and again, he cast Williams. Allison Williams. I mean, come the hell on. It’d be more compelling if someone just dragged Brunette Barbie around set Robot Chicken-style. Academy members are wiping the sweat from their brows knowing that they were able to eke in a movie about black issues, instead of creating an actual Oscar contender. Get Out’s headline-grabbing surprise nominations assuage #OscarsSoWhite guilt, but at the end of the day it’s a red herring, allowing people to celebrate walking ultra white paint chip Greta Gerwig while feeling that they hit inclusivity out of the damn park. If it wasn’t for the release of Get Out, the Oscars would have worked their way all the way down to The Carmichael Show if they had to. I wish I worked in Hollywood. Preaching about environmentalism while chartering private jets? Condemning an alleged sexual assailant post reaping the benefits of working with one? Celebrating racial inclusivity on a technicality rather than fostering the creation of actual Oscar-worthy inclusive movies? The morality Fast Pass reserved for the rich and famous. Here are the nominated movies that I hope you didn’t have to suffer through: Best Picture Call Me By Your Name Darkest Hour Dunkirk Get Out Lady Bird Phantom Thread The Post The Shape Of Water Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri   Best Actress Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Margot Robbie, I, Tonya Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird Meryl Streep, The Post   Best Actor Timothée Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name Daniel Day-Lewis, Phantom Thread Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour Denzel Washington, Roman J. Harvey Weinstein Expelled from the Academy

The move comes days after many allegations of sexual assault and harassment were made against the disgraced film producer, who won an Oscar in 1999 for producing Shakespeare in Love. “The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Board of Governors has voted well in excess of the required two-thirds majority to immediately expel him from the academy,” the group said in a statement. “We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over,” the statement continued. “What’s at issue here is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society. Fans weren’t impressed, and the box office numbers were disappointing. Everyone involved with the movies knew that changes would have to be made if the series was to survive. Well, it worked. Thor: Ragnarok has been getting the best reviews we’ve seen for a Marvel movie in years, and the fans have responded in a positive way, giving the movie an opening weekend nearly $40 million better than the last Thor film. Some of the changes made to the movie happened behind the scenes, but one of the biggest changes was pretty obvious — although it’s still Chris Hemsworth playing the character, he looks a lot different in the new movie, and he told us why they made those changes. Thor: Ragnarok, which is already closing in on $500 million in worldwide box office totals, is playing now in theaters everywhere.
