Not Only Did USC Dump Harvey Weinstein"s $5 Million Donation But BAFTA Suspended His Membership "Effective Immediately"!

Good riddance. After allegations of decades of sexual misconduct, Harvey Weinstein has now been dropped by both University of Southern California and BAFTA. As you may recall, in his statement responding to the New York Times exposé, the Hollywood exec touted his $5 million donation to USC as if that would make everything OK. Related: Harvey Blames His Brother Bob For Leaking Damaging Information He said at the time: "One year ago, I began organizing a $5 million foundation to give scholarships to women directors at USC. While this might seem coincidental, it has been in the works for a year. It will be named after my mom and I won't disappoint her." But in response to the explosive allegations, the University announced on Tuesday that it would not accept the filmmaker's contribution. A school spokesperson explained: "The USC School of Cinematic Arts will not proceed with Mr. Weinstein's pledge to fund a $5M endowment for women filmmakers." BAFTA followed suit on Wednesday by suspending the 65-year-old's membership "effective immediately." The academy denounced the defamed producer's behavior in a statement, saying: "In light of recent very serious allegations, BAFTA has informed Harvey Weinstein that his membership has been suspended, effective immediately. Whilst BAFTA has previously been a beneficiary of Mr Weinstein's support for its charitable work, it considers the reported alleged behaviour completely unacceptable and incompatible with BAFTA's values. This has led to Mr Weinstein's suspension, and it will be followed by a formal process as laid out in BAFTA's constitution. We hope this announcement sends a clear message that such behaviour has absolutely no place in our industry. BAFTA will continue to work with the film, games and television industries to improve access to rewarding and fulfilling careers in safe, professional working environments." Respect. One Of Danny Masterson"s Rape Accusers Calls Out Netflix For Renewing The Ranch — "Our Pain Means Nothing"

Apparently, allegations of assaults are not being treated equally. While Netflix has cut ties with the likes of Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K., one of Danny Masterson's accusers is wondering why nothing has been done to address The Ranch actor. As we reported, there is an ongoing investigation into four sexual assaults including rape stemming from incidents that happened in the early '00s. Even after Masterson was exposed, Netflix renewed the show starring Ashton Kutcher for a fourth season. As the streaming company remains silent, alleged victim Chrissie Carnell Bixler told The Daily Beast that she "can no longer be silent." Related: Daniel Franzese Accuses Bijou Phillips Of Mocking His Sexuality She said in a statement: "I was sick when I read Netflix's statement on continuing with The Ranch and continuing their working relationship with a man who has violently raped and abused so many women. Four months after the story broke, and the LAPD confirmed a criminal investigation, Netflix ordered another season of The Ranch. After the HuffPost piece, and the journalist reaching out 15 times to get a statement from Netflix, [they] ultimately said they will continue to work with Masterson until something develops. (Not the actual quote obviously.)" Bixler went on: "For me, what Netflix has done, feels like a continuation of how the Church of Scientology made me feel when I reported my rape to them, as well as how Danny Masterson made me feel when I would beg him for an apology, an explanation, anything. I was made to feel unimportant. I was made to feel like I didn't matter. Like what Danny Masterson did to me didn't matter. My body doesn't matter, because it doesn't belong to me. The trauma and emotional pain doesn't matter, because I just don't matter. ‘Danny Masterson is a celebrity. He flourishes and prospers in life. You protect that and reward that.' -direct quote from the Church of Scientology. I don't matter. The other women don't matter. Our pain means nothing, and we should be good little girls and shut our mouths. No! I'm going to be an amazing woman who will NOT shut my mouth when I find out my rapist raped countless other women. I will NOT shut my mouth when Netflix tries to make us feel like we don't matter. We DO matter. We ARE important. We will see justice for what was done to us, and is continuing to be done to us...and for all those who knew/know and are either actively helping this serial rapist or are choosing to stay silent...YOU don't matter. Victims are taking back the power that was stolen from us, and things are going to change. Netflix should write that down." So far, no word from Masterson -- but he was spotted out to dinner in Los Angeles last night with an unidentified woman. Why do U think Netflix seems to be dragging its feet?? SOUND OFF in the comments (below)! [Image via FayesVision/WENN.].....»»

In case you haven't heard, people are going just mad for the Stranger Things-themed bar which has popped up in Chicago, IL. The Upside Down pop-up, which launched in August, has been named after the supernatural universe from the hit Netflix drama. The only problem is, this business venture has no authorization from Netflix... Eek! Related: Location Scout For Netflix's Narcos Found Dead As seen in the snap (below), the hot spot features the light up alphabet wall from ST and sells cocktails named after the popular characters, such as Eleven's Eggos: Sunday Stranger Sunday! we're open in an hour & partyin til 2am... thx to @martharamette for the legit shot of our "Eleven's Eggo's" cocktail 👏🏼👏🏼A post shared by The Upside Down (@upsidedownchicago) on Sep 17, 2017 at 8:46am PDT As the bar has grown significantly in popularity, the owners decided to extend the theme to coincide with the season two premiere. Here's where Netflix FINALLY stepped in. Since The Upside Down pop-up never asked for permission to make this AH-Mazing bar, Netflix was forced to send a cease-and-desist letter. However, rather than send a dry legal document, the streaming company sent a pretty tongue in cheek note to the establishment (below): The themed bar will close on October 1 as originally planned. Per DNAInfo Chicago, the bar owners and manager have no hard feelings towards Netflix for putting an end to their pop-up. But they are scared of that demogorgon... After a mom spotted a crudely drawn penis in the background of a couple seconds of the children's show, there was a substantial social media backlash. There was no denying that the peen existed, so instead both companies are getting in front of it. First Netflix pulled the entire episode; now Studio 100 has officially responded with a promise of "legal action." Related: Everything Coming & Going On Netflix In October In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the animation studio explains that a single artist is going to pay for his "very bad joke": "An absolutely inappropriate image has been discovered in a four-second fly-by scene in one episode of the total of 78 episodes of the series. The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production. This is indeed unacceptable to the Studio 100 Group as owner of the brand and all its partners and doesn't reflect the quality of its work and its values. Legal action has already been started." Sounds like they already identified the perp. We wonder if Netflix used their American Vandal team to track him down... The statement concludes: "Studio 100 very much regrets this incident and would like to offer its sincere apologies to all ‘Maya the Bee' fans. At the same time the company is taking all suitable technical measures to remedy the situation." Sounds like that episode will be up again sans peen. We wonder if it's like covering up a tattoo? If so, we suggest turning it into a butterfly. See, isn't that better? [Image via Netflix.].....»»
