Andy Serkis Gets An Eyeful With ‘War For The Planet of The Apes’ Visuals

It's hard for Andy Serkis to top his work as Gollum in director Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, but he's reached similar creative heights as sheltered ape turned leader Caesar in the latest Planet of the Apes films. War for the Planet of the Apes puts a cinematic exclamation point on the trilogy as it’s the finest film of the lot. Part of the franchise’s success comes from director Matt Reeves who helmed War and 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. “He was very willing to take it as far as he could,” said Serkis. “And we completely connected. He’s all about discovering the scenes and properly rehearsing the scene with apes as actors and finding the beat and rehearsing scenes with the crew standing around waiting to shoot. He would always wait until the moment was right and . . . that  everybody (understood) what that scene was about.” Click on the media bar to hear Serkis talks about the incredible use of CGI in the film, especially when it comes to capturing the apes’ eyes. War for the Planet of the Apes, co-starring Woody Harrelson, opens July 14. Find Us On Facebook: Hollywood Outbreak Follow Us On Twitter: @Hollyoutbreak Posted by: Greg Srisavasdi.....»»

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Finds Empathy And Excellence With Andy Serkis

Though the first two installments were both excellent films, War for the Planet of the Apes may be the crowning achievement of the trilogy. This time out Caesar (Andy Serkis) is on a mission of both revenge and survival as a ruthless military leader known as the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) is focused on eliminating the apes from the face of the Earth. Though Serkis has been roundly praised for his work as Caesar, his work may be underrated due to the eye catching performance capture and CGI that’s infused in the franchise. “What (Serkis) is at the forefront of is being a great actor,” He’s one of the best actors in the world. The reason people respond so emotionally to Caesar is behind Caesar is Andy Serkis’ performance which is remarkable.” Click on the media to hear Reeves talk about how empathy is a huge theme that’s explored in the Apes trilogy: War for the Planet of the Apes opens nationwide July 14. Amiah Miller Audition For ‘Apes’ Leads To Wonderful Surprise

War for the Planet of the Apes has received excellent reviews, as its top notch storytelling and performances are pretty hard to beat. Hopefully Andy Serkis will receive an Oscar nomination for his work as Caesar, and Woody Harrelson also does fine work as Caesar’s adversary The Colonel. Amiah Miller should also receive her share of attention as Nova, the youth who is discovered by Caesar and his fellow apes during their search for The Colonel. Nova is unable to speak a word (due to a spoiler I’m not willing to divulge), but through her actions she gradually fits in with Caesar’s clan. Miller, who appreciated director Matt Reeves’ “soft spoken” yet focused approach to directing, was surprised when she was the final cut of the film. “It’s crazy because I pictured something in my head reading the script,” said Miller. “And it turned out 1,000 times better when I first saw it. Click on the media bar below to hear Amiah Miller discuss how, when she auditioned for the film, she had no idea it was an Apes installment!! War for the Planet of the Apes opens July 14. ‘CinemAddicts’ Podcast Reviews ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ And ‘Person to Person’

July should prove to be a strong month for films, and on the latest episode of CinemAddicts we review War for the Planet of the Apes, an excellent closing to the critically acclaimed trilogy. Andy Serkis once again delivers an inspired performance as the strong willed leader Caesar. Woody Harrelson does layered work as The Colonel, the leader of an intimidating army that’s focused on eliminating the world of apes, and Steve Zahn is also memorable as Bad Ape, a new member to Caesar’s family. War for the Planet of the Apes opens nationwide July 14. Although the official review for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is currently embargoed, we are allowed to officially give our reaction to the Luc Besson directed flick. Headlined by Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevigne, the movie fulfills Besson’s lifelong desire to make a movie that’s based on a comic book series he loved as a kid. Visually immersive in 3D, the picture is definitely worth a look when it hits theaters July 21. Magnolia Pictures’ Person to Person may not be a blockbuster like the aforementioned films, but if you’re looking for a smaller scale and more intimate experience, this Michael Cera comedy-drama is a memorable one. Shot in 16mm by Dustin Guy Defa, Person to Person centers on several New Yorkers as they go about their day. Cera plays an erratic, punk rock loving newsman in the picture, and he’s just one of the more memorable characters who populate the story. Check out the latest episode of CinemAddicts below!!
