As we reported, Catt Sadler shocked fans when she announced she was leaving E! after learning cohost Jason Kennedy "was making double my salary and has been for several years." To add insult to injury, during negotiations, the network reportedly refused to give her equal pay. Sadly, not everyone is #TeamCatt in this drama. Related: Jennifer Lawrence & Jessica Chastain Support Catt Sadler! On Thursday, Kennedy's wife Lauren Scruggs wrote a lengthy post on Instagram defending her husband and the network against claims of sexism. The model reveals: "I believe in female empowerment and gender equality, but it's heartbreaking that a network is being deemed sexist when that is simply not true. At one time my husband had a female co-anchor on E! News who made 3 times his salary. Women are paid accordingly on this network, and the difference in his salary versus hers did not affect Jason. He knows there are always more components to consider when determining one's salary than gender alone." The fashion blogger then references an E! spokeswoman who told the New York Times that Sadler and Kennedy's roles were not comparable. According to Scruggs, Kennedy has been the permanent anchor of E! News for the past two years, while "a permanent co-host has never been named since the last one left 6 months ago." Even if there was an issue with "gender inequality," Scruggs says her husband would absolutely not stand for it. "If he ever heard that gender inequality was occurring at his workplace, he would take action. Instead, it's the contrary, and the numerous phone calls we have had these past two days from both current and former female employees at E! only support what he has seen in his time there. These women have assured us that they never felt gender inequality was at play at any time." Ultimately, the fashion journalist wants to clear Kennedy's name amid the mudslinging. "Jason is the most tender-hearted & respectful person and it's so sad to see him unfairly publicly shamed. His name has been dragged through the mud regarding nothing he did, except be a great friend & colleague. It absolutely breaks my heart to watch, & it is devastating & frustrating to see how this all played out. I will always stand on truth, & I cannot stand by and be silent when the foundation of a story that affects my family is not based on that. I am so proud of & inspired by my husband for constantly being prayerful, surrounding himself w/ wisdom, & being the definition of a class act even in unfortunate circumstances." It's important to note that Sadler has only said nice things about Kennedy, and even told her followers to stop "vilifying him" in a recent Instagram post. She wrote: "If I had one ask, it is to please not place blame on my friend Jason Kennedy. He has done right by me in every respect. It hurts me deeply to see that some are vilifying him. I repeat, his hands are tied on this matter and if you're angry - rightfully so - direct that emotion at the decision makers who failed us, not him." Read Lauren's full rant (below): I have always said that there are negatives and positives to social media, and these last 48 hours have proven that to be true. Ryan Seacrest Says All Sexual Misconduct Allegations Should Get "Fair Review" After Being "Wrongly Accused"

Ryan Seacrest reflects on a "gut-wrenching" period of his life… Back in November 2017, a former E! stylist accused the TV personality of alleged misconduct that took place over a decade ago. Back in November 2017, a former E! stylist accused the TV personality of alleged misconduct that took place over a decade ago. Earlier this month, the network's investigation "found insufficient evidence to support the claims against Seacrest and therefore could not be substantiated." Related: Kelly Ripa & Ryan Seacrest Go ALL OUT For Halloween! On Monday night, the Live with Kelly and Ryan cohost wrote a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter titled "What Happened After I Was Wrongly Accused of Harassment" where he opens up about the controversy. While radio DJ knew there "was no merit to the allegations," he says he was concerned with how the scandal would affect his longstanding career and reputation. He reveals: "To have my workplace conduct questioned was gut-wrenching. I've always aimed to treat all of my colleagues with honesty, respect, kindness and compassion. Yet, I knew, regardless of the confidence I had that there was no merit to the allegations, my name would likely soon appear on the lists of those suspected of despicable words and deeds. The pressures of our overflowing newsfeeds would insist on it." Though he supports the women who "sought to bring attention to the systemic gender inequality that has occurred for decades," he believes every accusation must be given "a swift and fair review." "Most of us agree that the presumption of innocence is an important standard. We are taught early on that it's essential to see all sides, to give everyone a chance to explain and to check for exculpatory evidence that may have been missed. At a time when improper interactions between men and women, particularly in the workplace, are part of a national conversation, we must find a way to ensure that everyone — the public, private and public institutions, accusers and alleged accused — is given the opportunity for a swift and fair review." Despite what he's been through, Seacrest wants "to be part of the change, the progress, that is coming." The American Idol star adds: "We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our gender, race, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or other status. We find ourselves in extraordinary times in American culture. We live with near constant change, disruption and public discourse. I realize the morals and values, the decency, we've perhaps taken for granted, individually and as citizens of the world, are in question. Worse, at risk. I do not take these things for granted." Read the full letter (below): "I do not take things for granted. Every day I am living my childhood dream because of the efforts of so many other people. I do my best to show and express my gratitude to my co-hosts, producers, guests, audiences, executives, partners and fans for the privilege of their collaboration and participation, and for the unwavering support of my loved ones and team. In November, I received a letter from a lawyer representing a former show stylist. She claimed that I mistreated her more than a decade ago when we worked together. This arrived during an unprecedented public reckoning by women in our industry and beyond, courageously coming forward to share their stories, many of them heartbreaking. These women sought to bring attention to the systemic gender inequality that has occurred for decades. I was — and am — amazed at their bravery. To have my workplace conduct questioned was gut-wrenching. I've always aimed to treat all of my colleagues with honesty, respect, kindness and compassion. Yet, I knew, regardless of the confidence I had that there was no merit to the allegations, my name would likely soon appear on the lists of those suspected of despicable words and deeds. The pressures of our overflowing newsfeeds would insist on it. I absolutely want to be part of the change, the progress, that is coming. I did not want to be a postscript of evidence of its cause. After sharing the letter with the network, I publicly denied the claims against me, and agreed to participate in any inquiry the network deemed appropriate. On Feb. 1, I received notice that an independent third party found the claims to be unsubstantiated and that there was no evidence of wrongdoing on my part. Most of us agree that the presumption of innocence is an important standard. We are taught early on that it's essential to see all sides, to give everyone a chance to explain and to check for exculpatory evidence that may have been missed. At a time when improper interactions between men and women, particularly in the workplace, are part of a national conversation, we must find a way to ensure that everyone — the public, private and public institutions, accusers and alleged accused — is given the opportunity for a swift and fair review. My job is to listen. Beyond listening, which I will continue in earnest, I also will ask questions and try to help voices be heard. It isn't lost on me that my platforms — radio, TV, social media — can be powerful conduits for change. We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our gender, race, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or other status. We find ourselves in extraordinary times in American culture. We live with near constant change, disruption and public discourse. I realize the morals and values, the decency, we've perhaps taken for granted, individually and as citizens of the world, are in question. Worse, at risk. I do not take these things for granted." The Polish-American actress got some brutal backlash after claiming the reason she wasn't booking any roles lately was because she didn't look ethnic enough. The Grey's Anatomy alum posted a string of video confessionals on her Snapchat this week, in which she vented about the grueling auditioning process. Video: Stranger Things' Sadie Sink Clarifies Unscripted Kiss Situation Walking out of an audition room, the 37-year-old told her followers she was frustrated with the lack of roles she's been offered -- which, according to Marika, is because she's "not famous" and "not super ethnic." Going off that last part, she went on to say: "I only say that because I legit lost all these other jobs I've been auditioning for, to ladies of different ethnic backgrounds. I can't compete with that!" Yes, you disadvantaged poor thing! If only there weren't so many roles for black women on televisio-whatthehellisshetalkingabout... Marika tried to cap off her rant on a positive, don't-give-up-on-your-dreams note, but few could see past the part where she whined about black women stealing her roles. One critic in particular gave an appropriately shady response while sharing Marika's rant on Twitter: so where are all these "ethnic" ladies on screen who are getting these roles over you because you’re white? because i still see white women on tv shows CONSTANTLY... maybe you’re just not good? 🤷🏽‍♀️ @TheMeanChick pic.twitter.com/3idljShmbJ — Mo (@janeglorianas) November 8, 2017 Wow. As we reported way back in April 2017, the Olympian wrote in her memoir The Secrets of My Life she underwent gender reassignment surgery back in January of that year. On Thursday, in a clip from Piers Morgan's show Life Stories obtained by DailyMail.com, the transgender icon confirms reports she did not tell Kris Jenner and co. about the procedure before writing about it in her book. Additionally, the Olympian reveals she sent Kim Kardashian West a copy of the book "except for the last few pages when I talked about gender confirmation." Related: Caitlyn Jenner Confronts Piers Morgan Over 'Disrespectful' Question! When the British host asks, "They didn't know that you had actually had the surgery?" Jenner replies: "No, I didn't tell anybody. Why? It's none of their business." Additionally, the 68-year-old does not believe the family is "entitled to know before the world" as the surgery was "not that big a deal." "No, it's not that big a deal... Nobody knows... I had to be honest, the book is about honesty. It's called The Secrets of My Life... No, it really wasn't a big deal... I had already been living as Caitlyn for a year and a half, ok, nobody knows anything." Later in the clip, the star of the late I Am Cait admits she didn't want members of the family "to leak it to the press," as she "didn't trust them." "Because I didn't want them to leak it to the press. Ok. And there was no reason for them to know about it... Of course not - of course I didn't trust them, yeah." As seen on KUWTK, the book has been a source of contention between Caitlyn and rest of the family. In a June episode, Kim said: "If you turn on my mom and you continue to bash us, I can't — even for the sake of my sisters — spend time with someone who doesn't care about my mother. Like enough already … My mom has been so fair to Cait and Cait has no decency towards her whatsoever. I don't think my mom has to try anymore. It's time to move on." And Kendall Jenner recently confessed to her mom that she and her siblings "kept a lot of" Caitlyn's gender identity issues away from her. Oof. Sean Penn"s Debut Novel OBLITERATED By Critics! See The Roughest Reviews HERE!

His debut novel, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff, is getting lambasted by critics for its casual misogyny and meandering, get-off-my-lawn grumpiness, yes. But mostly they can't get past the awful writing! Video: Sean Penn Lights Up Cigarettes & Says He's On Ambien On Colbert Reviewers couldn't help but include crude passages illuminating literary peccadillos like a preponderance of polysyllabic words and a litany of alliteration. (See how annoying that gets? Imagine it for 160 pages.) Oh, and it ends with a six page poem that trashes the #MeToo movement. Eesh. See some of the harsh responses for yourself (below)! Claire Fallon, Huffington Post: "Often when critics compare a novel to a "fever dream," they mean it as a compliment, conveying that the book creates its own otherworldly universe and dream logic. When I say that Bob Honey is reminiscent of a fever dream, I mean that it's nonsensical, unpleasant and left me sweaty with mingled horror and confusion." David Canfield, Entertainment Weekly: "As for the language, Penn tries to drive the points home in ambitious prose — but his stylistic flourishes feel sticky and overwrought. ("Scottsdale's dry climate contradicts the clammy calescent of New Guinean condensation" is a real sentence.)" Mark Athitakis, The Washington Post: "As an audiobook, "Bob Honey" had a certain unserious, busman's holiday charm. It got a lift from its variety of voices, though some of them were broad ethnic stereotypes... For the novel version of the story, though, Penn is relegated to being a maker of sentences. May he never quit his day job; Penn delivers prose as if he were gunning for a prize from the American Alliteration Association. "Dreams died like destiny's deadwood," he writes." Jeff Giles, The New York Times: "Still, for a wild ride, "Bob Honey" is conspicuously un-fun. For every perfect, plain-spoken sentence ("It is on that couch where Bob feels safest, almost embraced") there are dozens of linguistic traffic jams where you can almost hear the words honking at each other to get out of the way." Jonah Goldberg, National Review: "Somewhere there is a dog-eared, nicotine-soaked thesaurus with Sean Penn's smudged fingerprints all over it... It's the kind of thing you write when you don't have the confidence to say what you want to say the way you want to say it, so you follow a formula ("4 parts alliteration, 1 part wry masturbation references . . .")." Sian Cain, The Guardian: "Penn doesn't just swing and miss with his ambitious vocabulary; he swings and cracks a hole in reality as we know it, leaving us all unsure of the concept of a good sentence, how a novel should be structured and generally what makes sense any more. Words are not just misused, they are misplaced, to the point that Penn's prose is more reminiscent of bot than man. One can only emerge blearily from sentences such as "Bob hastily exited and breathed the new morning's Muslim air", or "Behind decorative gabion walls, an elderly neighbour sits centurion on his porch watching Bob with surreptitious soupçon", or "She sharted agave shimmering spirits and shifted shit-faced overboard." It's like beat poetry, just somehow worse." [Image via Timm/face to face/Media Punch/Simon and Schuster.].....»»

The show’s writer Steven Levenson explained to The New York Times why the creative team behind the musical decided to turn it into a novel. “We have felt a certain discomfort with the fact that it is so expensive to come see the show, we can only have 1,000 people a night, and there are so many people who can’t come to New York,” he said. “There were people responding to the show without having even seen it, and we did feel like, what are some ways that we can get this show to more people?” There will also be parts of the book that you don’t get to experience in the show, including moments that are only alluded to on stage. Here’s what the 30-year-old “Good as Hell” entertainer had to say… On sexuality and gender: “When it comes to sexuality or gender, I personally don’t ascribe to just one thing. I cannot sit here right now and tell you I’m just one thing. That’s why the colors for LGBTQ+ are a rainbow! Because there’s a spectrum, and right now we try to keep it black and white. That’s just not working for me.” On being considered a trailblazer of body positivity: “It’s bizarre to me that what I’m saying and doing is revolutionary, because it should be so innate and first-nature. Not even second-nature. We should love ourselves first. We should look at our bodies as vehicles for success, and not a signifier of who you are, how good your p–y is, if dudes like you or not, or if you can fit certain clothes…that’s not what your body’s for.” On her next album: “I know this is a really important time for me. I have a lot of eyes on me finally, and I’m in this place where this next album could potentially be something that goes really, really big, or it can go really, really calm…. The album has changed so many times. But the album I’ve gotten to in this moment is gonna be so unexpected, and so musical, but so me…. I want to drop it!” For more from Lizzo, visit TeenVogue.com......»»
